I've been active and athletic for most of my life. Before going to to recreate fitness I cycled or ran almost every day, but lacked all around fitness. This is the reason that I sought out a personal trainer and was not let down by the staff at Recreate Fitness. After going to the gym for four months I'm in as good or better shape than after finishing a triathlon two years ago. The workouts are always different and, surprisingly, I pretty much always look forward to them. I just cancelled my membership to 24Hour fitness and hope I never have to go back. The group workouts are are great and a really good value. I couldn't speak more highly of this gym.
Pros: Personal attention, fun workouts
Cons: Distance from my house

After seeing their sandwich board at NW 19th & Overton, I decided to try a small gym vs. my usual procrastination of going to 24 Hr Fitness. I made an appointment to try one private session. After the friendly, personable attention to me and my fitness goals, I knew I had to stick with it. It takes time to get past the initial soreness, but your body will thank you. It has been five months, and I go four days a week: 2 private half-hour sessions & 2 group classes. The shape of my body has changed and my confidence in setting goals has surprised me. I am not a competitive person, and Recreate is a team environment. Everyone wants to see each other succeed. This is far better than a giant gym or home gym because you have the best fitness professionals teaching and encouraging you every minute. They know your body's limits better than you and will mix up the routine every visit. You will never get tired or bored on an exercise machine because Recreate brings back the things we all did as kids with extras like bands, jump ropes and kettlebells.
Pros: A value for the personal attention & facility. No membership required.

I"m a regular at the 24 hours fitness in the Pearl. I lift weights, eat right and run sprints and thought I was in great shape. Everyday Athlete gave me a chance to really improve my fitness level in a fun and challenging way. After working out there a short time I have a bigger chest and shoulders and am much leaner. This is a gym for all fitness levels and the folks that work there are pleasant , open and friendly. Every one from the very fit to newbies can benefit from the crossfit style of working out. The gym is small and has simple equipment, but it will get you in the shape you want to be fast.
Pros: Great way to work out. Friendly, low key environment, but a greeat kick a** workout

I am really impressed with this place - not your average gym. The trainers are knowledgeable and take interest in me, coaching me through every workout. They always teach me something new so I have never been bored yet! I don't think I have done the same workout twice! Great place to get in shape and feel good
Pros: Personal attention from trainers

When I started private training sessions at Everyday Athlete I did it because I knew that I needed to work out for my health and to lose weight. I am not a person that enjoys exercise but I really look forward to my workouts now and am so pleased with my progress. I have lost 12 pounds and am so much stronger than when I started. The workouts are fun, challenging and unique. The Crossfit style workouts are great because I'm done with my workout in 45 minutes and I've gotten my cardio and strength training done all at once. In the past I always thought that I had to spend an hour on the treadmill and then still have to lift weights as well. Everyday Athlete workouts are fun fast and intense!
Pros: Personalized service, great facility, friendly staff
Cons: can be hard to find, they are in the back behind another business
