better things to come????
by shelber
I must say, when I first went to envy back in september I was not impressed and vowed never to return, but recently ( last weekend) I went with a friend for her birthday, What a change from last time I was there, the line moved faster and I only waited about 10 min. the staff seemed friendlier than I remember, the door guy still seemed grumpy put polite, the atmosphere seemed alot better and I felt comfortable to hang out there untill close, I noticed a few different faces than last time, maybe that did it who knows?? whatever they are doing to change I feel it's working, I will be back, keep doing what your doing envy and you will see me for a long time!!
- Pros: better service, better attitudes
- Cons: lines at the bar,
classy, chill club

I've been to Envy Lounge a handful of times and have always enjoyed myself. Friendly bartenders, luxurious VIP sections and great music--this club has a different vibe than anywhere else i've been in Portland. The line can get a little long but showing up before 11 is an easy way to avoid the wait. Every time I've been its poppin but not sweaty and crowded like a lot of nightclubs. I definitely reccommend it.
cool place

I've heard bad things about ENVY but I think it's all just from people who are p*ssed off for the wrong reasons. The bartenders were chill and the atmosphere was cool. Good sound system, hot people, as long as you go in with the right attitude you'll probably have a great time. If you're self-involved and argumentative, you'll probably end up b*tching about how horrible your night was, trying to get everyone else to feel as victimized as you insist on being. I had a great time.
- Pros: service, atmosphere
- Cons: busy
Not worth waiting for and definitely not worth the cover. Avoid in general
by sundidi
Long wait in line when they were clearly not busy at all but just wanted to stall until it was time to pay for cover. We were on the "list" but it apparently didn't matter. Bouncers were rude and unnecessarily so.
- Pros: Bartenders were quick
- Cons: Lines, bouncers, prices
Other clubs do it better

The best I can say about this place is "what a joke." A friend and I ordered a VIP room for our friend's birthday. My friend had some connections and so we made a list of people to submit to them for our “list.”
When we got there, we were pretty much the only people in line. They made us stand there and wait while they told us that they couldn't find our list, all the while avoiding eye contact with us and trying to pretend we weren't standing there. Apparently, someone on their end dropped the ball and we have to sit there while they don't do anything to solve the problem and proceed to let boisterous, drunk idiots that aren’t in the VIP line go inside.
On top of me paying over 50 dollars for "part" of the VIP, they have the nerve to rudely tell me they need to charge me 5 additional dollars cover because I'm a guy. What great service for people who are spending a lot of money.
Anyways, I get inside to our "VIP" table (so they call it)… right in front of a high traffic area of the bar and the bathroom! Didn't feel too important, since that’s what VIP is supposed to mean. But we'll take it because it's the only place to sit besides the toilet in the entire place. It's a DANCE CLUB, where people's legs get tired and they want to SIT.
NOW, here's the biggest joke... It's 10:30pm and I look at the dance floor and it's less than 1/4 full. I look back outside and the line is HUGE! This place is ALL about looks, but low and behold, NOBODY is having any fun! You have to let people inside to do that. But I don't know why everybody is dying to get inside to be greeted with overpriced drinks ($6 well whiskey and coke?) and if they're lucky, the club paparazzi.
Make sure NOT to bring a credit/debit card in less you have intentions of buying $20 or more of drinks... In short, there are plenty of good clubs around town, I wouldn't waste time here with a bunch of impersonable a**holes.
- Pros: Loud music, decent atmosphere
- Cons: Below-par service, everything WAY overpriced, too many d-bags
Some of us are just to ugly I guess.

Great place to go if you have some money, a tan and good looks and a superiority attitude. Not good if you are just a normal guy.
Bouncers were cool, I used to be one so I know the game.
Club was crowded, bartenders working hard to keep up with the orders. I made the mistake of ordering a Pabst ... soon had a vodka tonic going, forgot were I was for a second. Saw many patrons complaining about the service, mine was fine though. Again, I know the business so the patrons that frequent this place are the kind to complain about service.
Saw a big dude getting short with a male bartender. Thought it was rather rude myself. He told the bartender to never mix him such a weak drink again. I felt like jumping in and suggesting that the patron front-load his tip and that may get him better service but this 'aint my house so I stayed out of it. The bartender kind of kissed hiney so I am going to assume this is "the way" at this establishment. To get a bartender to risk over-pouring you, all you have to do is threaten them - nice.
I was also getting some stares too - obviously I did not belong here. I gussied up and all but still dod not fit in. I'm one of them "SE Snobs" that likes cheap drinks and dive-bars. I was meeting some friends though so stuck around to oblige them.
A lot of posturing by men there and women on cell-phones or being overtly wasted. So not my scene, but again, I'm meeting friends.
They arrive, I begged them to leave and eventually we did.
Envy seems fake - like it's trying to be somethng it 'aint. Not my cup of tea and too pricey for a middle-class guy like me. A lot of orange tinted people with shiny shirts or tube-tops.
I guess some folks like this stuff; so if you are into people kissing your hiney for the sake of kissing hiney, looking like you are something you are not, bad techno music, spending money, quasi machismo... Envy is for you! Good luck and enjoy.
- Pros: Meh
- Cons: patrons are a bit too "Fratty"
PRETTY people. GREAT food. PRETTY GREAT!

I wasn't sure how my night was going to end up. Had one of those days. Can only get better, right? Well. .It definitely did. I approached the club w/ the best of attitudes, and it paid off. The energy i was feeding off the staff was so positive and welcoming. At first, only a few people were there (it was about 945pm. early for night club i guess.) but all of the sudden... i turned around, and there was a pool of good looking people walking through the door. Soon, the club was filled with some of the best looking people ive ever seen in a portland club. Dj was spinning all of the right music. Towards the end of the night, i started to get hungry so i ordered their spring rolls, and seared ahi. Yum! Recommendation? Heck yes! Ill be back very soon!
- Pros: atmosphere. staff. food.
- Cons: parking.
hottest Portland club ever
by kingofportlandparties
Portland's number 1 club right now. I knew the line was going to be long so I went there at 9:30pm, when I got there I was treated very well by there staff and also enjoyed myself an appetizer. Once more people arrived, the dj started picking up the pace and I made my way to the dancefloor. Before I knew it the place was packed full of beautiful people and I ended up staying till the end. Envy definitely suprized me as it offered the best of everything, the music, atmosphere and people working there. I'd definitely recommend everyone to go to this spot extra, extra early!!
not recommended ever

I heard bad things about Envy from a lot of people, but i ignored them and went there last night. Got there around 10:50, there was a huge crowd out there. I ended up waiting for a hour before getting in . It seemed like they wanted the huge line there so it would look poppin. Random people would walk up (girls mostly) and get in before anyone in the huge line. Well when i got in, it was soooooooooo crowded, i kept getting run into, drinks split on me. The drinks small and watered down. I do not plan on going back and am going to spread the word!
Great Spot to Party

I'm a local here in the PDX area have gone out quite a bit in these past few years. I do have to say that my first time at Envy was probably one of the best times I have had a club in a long time. I like that they have a dress code and that they actually enforce the dress code. It's a clean safe environment with the best music of HIP HOP. I personally can't really dance to anything else but HIP HOP. The food there is amazing a combination of Thai and other asian dishes, well priced, good portions, great service. A variety of cocktails and martini's, and what's best is that once you are on there email list you can always be on there guest list which means no waiting no cover. They have affordable VIP areas, and packages they put together. I have had my birthday party thrown there and again it was all worth it. So if your from out of town and you love HIP HOP grooves you will love ENVY.
