Are you kidding me?
by dangrmous
I ordered a meatball sub for lunch and was amazed at what I got. An open-faced sub on supermarket bread with a thick, greasy, rubbery layer of melted cheese. What did I find underneath? Meatballs? Frankly, I have no idea what it was. Spongy gray discs of some kind of meat product. No meatballs. I took several out and ate them on their own, and they tasted like... nothing. The so-called salad was nothing but clearly old green leaf lettuce (it was browning) and five little pieces of purple cabbage. The only thing that was passable was the bottle of soda and maybe the sauce. Never again.
- Cons: the food
Big Disappointment
by 66stang
After reading the reviews I took a group to try Giovannis out. We were sorely disappointed. Service was slow. Food was marginal. We were looking for a new experience and what we learned was stick with what we know. Don't waste your money or time here.
Not bad, but nothing special

I ordered a three-meat pizza from Giovanni's for take-out after reading the rave reviews, but was somewhat let down. The pizza was certainly large, and the crust was thick, making for a filling meal, but the flavor was lacking. The beef and sausage were almost indistinguishable from one another, the sauce was non-existent, and the cheese was flavorless.
Overall, the pizza was edible, and didn't taste BAD, but it is not something I would recommend unless you have a large group of very hungry people.
- Pros: Free parking, Very filling
- Cons: Not open late, no delivery, mediocre food, slightly expensive
Best Pizza in the Area.

This place has awesome Pizza, Only other Pizza that Compares is Nonna Emilia's in Aloha,
(Nonna's It has more cheese on it and is a little more greasy, but still good IMO)
Like others have said, this Place has been around for ever, and the reason isn't the Atmosphere, it's the FOOD, In the 80's I started going here, the place looked like a Old Soda Shop with the sparkle booths, and the service was from people who'd looked at you and you'd say to your self, I'm swearing they are saying "Here's your darn FOOD!" under their breath.
Back then Service was Crappy and Decor was Crappy.
However Food was AWESOME!
Not much has changed, the service is better, and the decor, well slightly better.
Don't go to this place if you want a flashy place with people running to your table every three seconds to see what you want.
WHY? Like others say they are busy with Takeout, Get a House Special, have it DOUBLE CUT (They cut pizza slices big here) and order it go go.
The reason this place has survived for over 30 years (I don't know how long they have been there) Isn't because of their Service or Decor, it's because the Food is AWESOME.
Call A head your Order, get it take out wait 20mins pick it up and you WON'T Be sorry.
The Pizza sauce has the right amount of spices, it's a thicker crust than normal, they put a generous amount of toppings, so even thought a large is like 22bucks it's well worth it..
And Unlike Large from Pizza Hut, it is a LARGE!
People who are concerned about decor, really don't belong in this place, But if you love food this is the place!
And after 30 or more years, with the Odd Decor it's obvious it works.
Thier Focus is on Food as all resturants should be.
Nonna Emilia's in Aloha (About 3miles West of This place is another great place to eat.)
- Pros: Best Pizza and Italian food in town, Call Ahead and order TO-GO
- Cons: If you want Ambience this is not the place, if you want good food this is it.
I LIKED IT!

Went there in August 2006 for lunch. The place was pretty empty. More people getting take-out than eating in. It was also pretty outdated but that was okay-just more casual-like a pizza place, not an itailian resurant. The service was friendly and fast. Started with salad which was...plain, but fresh. I had the lasagna which I loved and will have to go back for. My sister had the pesto pasta which she thought was really good but not great. Place was clean. I liked it. I thought it was refreshing to go to a place that didn't try to be something they're not.
- Pros: clean, casual, lasagna
- Cons: plain, outdated
I don't know about this place.

The service was good. The decor, come on it is a low priced restaurant. I would say it is better than a bunch of cheez set pieces like at the chain restaurants. The sauce tasted like green peppers which was more reminiscent of that served at a Baptist Church pasta dinner than what I'm used too. Did I mention that I grew up in St. Louis eating good Italian food.
The pizza on the other hand was pretty tasty. If you go get the Carbonara or the Pizza, leave the meat sauce to somebody else.

Good food, bad service
by rhp71
My wife and I have been to Giovanni's many times. We really like the food, and the atmosphere is cheezily pleasant. But, we've stopped going there because of the service. The last 3 or 4 times we've been there, we've had to wait more than 30 minutes just to place our order. Nobody seems to care that we are just sitting there, waiting to order. And what's odd is that we normally eat at odd times, when there is nobody else in the restaurant. After finally ordering, getting the food seems to take forever as well. Granted, the food is good, but for us, the wait isn't worth it.
- Pros: Good food
- Cons: , Long waits
Big Night Wannabe
by Dine_N_Dash
This once-solid staple of Beaverton dining is hanging onto past glories, but is on the downward spiral toward "mall food". Refusing to let go myself, I keep going back in vain. You can only hope that the dated, plain decor belies hidden gems coming from the kitchen. Or that maybe there's a table of "distinguished Italian gentlemen" dining in the back who know something you don't. It's neither. The pizza, not deep-dish mind you, is bready, and good luck searching for cheese or sauce. While the sauce shows hope, I can only assume the mushy pasta is coming from a steam tray. Boxed wine and iceberg lettuce salads just complete the picture show you that Giovanni's has given up. The one culinary redemption is a homemade chicken soup that you'll cry for when you have a cold. Otherwise, head to Sbarro's.
Yummy Food

The decor leaves a lot to be desired, however the food is great! It's a bit spendy but you usually get to have leftovers the next day. One of our favorite places for italian munchies! Kudos to Giovanni's Restaurant
- Pros: Giid Food, casual
- Cons: expensive, decor
