Best Dinner Ever
by richgirl44 at Citysearch
My husband and I had dinner on Valentines Day at the Old Mill Cafe and it was wonderful. I had the Nut Encrusted Salmon, my husband the Filet Mignon and both were fabulous, as was the appetizer, soup and the dessert. Prices were reasonable. They had an awesome singer ( who apparently will be comming back regularly) and the ambience and service were also great. We will be spending many a Saturday night here as well as every Valentine's Day. Keep up the good work OLD MILL!!
- Pros: All
- Cons: None
Hidden Secret of Clackamas
by beth666 at Citysearch
I just went to the Old Mill cafe for the first time since the new owners took over ( about 1 year ago). Many people had recommended it to me but it took me some time to try it. I couldn't believe how it had changed and couldn't believe the quality and quantity of food. Their fish and chips are the freshest and best I have ever eaten and my friend tried their Manhattan sandwich which was served on a homemade roll and had probably 2 lbs of meat on it. We saw their dinner specials that came out and were impressed with the presentation of the food and we overheard the reviews of the taste which were great!! We noticed the homemade cinnamon rolls and had to have one for dessert - it was fresh, delicious and the best we had ever tasted. Don't hesitate like I did...we will go back often and will try their nightly special next time.
- Pros: Food the Quantity & Quality, and ambience
- Cons: Don't realize the beautiful restaurant inside from the look of the outside.

We really like the Red Barn bistro but its spendy, so we went to the pub side of the establishment and its ok--but for the tvs.
- Pros: Cool location especially in summer when you can sit under the big oak tree!
- Cons: too much tv, hard to understand which place is which, bad parking

Recently I went to the old mill cafe and they have a incredible new menu!! I ordered a blackened prime rib dinner and it was amazing!!! The spices where not like anything i have ever tasted. It was acompanied by red potatoes and roasted vegetables. The server was extremely knowlegable and very friendly. My food arrived very quickly and everything was fresh and delicious. I highly recommend this resteraunt. I could not have asked for a better experience. And i also ordered a few drinks from the bar and they were absoulutly perfect. Overall i was very impressed I give them two thumbs up!!!!

Imagine a family restaurant where the Chef will take the time to make you a one of a kind meal. That's what happened at the Old Mill! I asked some questions of the waitress and the next thing I knew the Chef was there - asking me how and what I felt like having - I had a meal of my very own that catered to my preferences and avoided my many food allergies. It was amazing and picture perfect as well. My friend had their coconut shrimp and stated it was the best she ever had. The couple sitting next to us state they eat here at least twice a week and most weeks even more.. They already have a following of fans and we have joined the crowd.
- Pros: They cater to your needs
- Cons: None that I could see
Our Favorite Restaurant

If you haven't eaten at the Old Mill Cafe yet you do not know what you are missing... The food is incredible, the service is great, and the atmosphere wonderful. Fresh home baked rolls start the meal and from there begins a culinary delight. I had the Filet Oscar - a filet mignon topped with crab meat, topped with another filet and then topped with shrimp, all with the most incredible bernaise sauce ever. My wife had the halibut stuffed with crab. Both of these were under $22.00 and were served with fresh roasted vegetables and roasted potatoes. The presentation was beautiful - with real flowers and fresh mint. You can't get this downtown Portland and the owners and Chef Bob make sure everyone is more than happy. When the construction is over you will not be able to get a reservation. Try it while you have the chance!
A real period experience and service to match

Since taken over by new owners Bob & Debbie I love this place. The rough sawn timbers & remants of the mill machinery in the dining room creat a comfy ambience that is unique to the area. They try hard to please here and they succeed. The owners and staff have bent over backwards for me to help with meetings and special events.
Then there's the food! Fresh baked pasteries (and they taste that way, too, contrary to an earlier review), a Reuben that is my favorite anywhere, and wonderful breakfast combinations.
This is a jewel of a place in contrast to the ubiquitous grocery chain strip malls.
- Pros: beer specials, breakfast, reuben sandwiches
- Cons: traffic and parking, but that should be temporary
Wonderful New Restaurant

We have just found this wonderful place -it is an old flour mill converted into a pub and fine dining restaurant - we enjoyed a fantastic dinner on the fine dining side with music and wine and the most wonderful ambiance. The food is great, reasonable in price, and the owners and employees friendly and helpful. We will be returning often to try their wonderful nightly specials and everything else on their varied menu. It all sounds great!
- Pros: ambiance, friendliness, food
- Cons: construction

This restaurant is recently under new ownership and wow have things changed! The sandwiches are huge, on homemade bread. the Reuben is to die for. Great gumbo, chili and steaks. They have specials nightly and great soups. Breakfast is served everyday- all day. Very friendly staff with both a pub room and dining room and they love kids. Try it now - they will soon have long waits to get in.
- Pros: great food , great atmosphere, nice staff
- Cons: parking
