I am pretty hard on hairstylists usually & Lord knows I've never subscribed to a site JUST to write a review before (!!), but I had to offer another review for this place. I'm one that knows exactly what I want, but in not knowing proper hairstyle terminology :), I generally have a VERY hard time conveying it to the stylist. I said my usual blonder, but not too blond; take a chunk off, but not too much - the type of wording that usually confuses a stylist & leaves their hands pretty tied. I was highly impressed with how my stylist (Aubrey) read into what I was asking for... I was blown away by the cut and can honestly say it's the best & most stylishly edgy cut I've had in many, many, MANY years. I grew up in the Los Angeles area, going to some trendier salons, so I just had to take a second to say thanks to Aubrey for helping me feel like me again!

A good choice

I am a 30 yo professional woman who just moved to Portland. After many moves, I know it's hard to find a good stylist in a new town. I had a referral from a buisness associate and tried out the Ritz. I thought the salon was excellent... nice atmosphere, friendly staff and I got a great haircut and style for about 40 dollars, which was just about what I wanted to spend. The salon atmosphere felt clean and crisp and professional, yet laid back without a lot of attitude... and it smelled great, which I like in a salon. Plus the stylists lease space there, so they actually get the haircut money you pay them.

I will definately be going back (I saw Marjie).
