He wandered in the '60s, alright--wandered right into Oregon to grow grapes.

In Short
Dick Erath is one of the pioneers of Oregon wine, having planted his vineyard in 1967. He opened his winery in 1972 and remains a pillar of the industry. Over the years Erath has produced a wide range of wines, including a well-made Cabernet Sauvignon. Erath also makes up to four versions of Pinot Noir. An intense Pinot Gris has become a major focus for the winery, and Dolcetto has been added. The Pinot Blanc, dry Riesling and Gewurztraminer are among the best in the region.
Enjoyed Erath

Had a very down home feel to the place with super helpful staff who went out of their way to help us and tell us what to pair with each wine. Enjoyed the wine which was very reasonable in price as was the tasting. Worth a stop by every time.
A Charming, Rustic Stop on the Wine Trail
by mingcat
Nestled on a hilltop in Dundee, the Erath tasting room is a popular stop in North Williamette Valley wine country. The rustic, woodsy room has lots of room for many folks to sample Erath's many varietals, although it can get busy on weekends. Its beautiful views of the countryside make this place perfect for a picnic.
- Pros: Lots of variety, Friendly staff, Beautiful views
- Cons: Can get crowded on weekends
