They have box lunch and dinner which you can choose from different items, great value and lots of food. I ordered the the tokyo steak in ginger sauce, ordered Med. rare came out med. well to well but had good sauce. over all we will go back.

Truth be told, my fiance and I can be a bit pretentious when it comes to sushi. We moved up to the Portland area a little over a year ago and were certain we'd be blown away by the sushi up here, with Portland's close accessibility to fresh fish and it's "Foodie" reputation. Suffice it to say, we were more than a little disappointed with what we found. We had searched diligently all over the area for a satisfactory restaurant, and found ourselves quite flabbergasted that the best sushi we had previously was in Reno (great fish in the desert, who'd have thought). Then, we found Tokyo. We've only been there once, but the experience much exceeded that of what we expected. The food was amazing, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere was comfortable. Either our standards have dropped since moving up here, or we truly have discovered a gem.
- Pros: location (walking distance from our house), food, service, ambience..
- Cons: A little expensive, but I usually expect to drop a few bills when I'm out getting sushi
Wasn't expecting much and was unimpressed

My girlfriend and I were looking for a quick fix for sushi on sunday afternoon. When we walked in to see the place completely empty we should have taken the cue. The staff was fairly attentive - but again, we were the only people in the place.
Being a little skeptical of the establishment from the start we ordered a pretty safe meal - spicy pork domburi, a mixed tempura bento and side order of maguro and spicy tuna roll. The maguro was decent - a little small cut for the price but fresh. The spicy tuna tasted a little off to me - maybe too much mayo.
We received a little salad that was wilted the soy beans cold. The Domburi was awful - the pork was overcooked and chewy. Spicy??? not so much - very bland. I ended up eating about 4 bites and then couldn't take anymore.
My girlfriend had the tempura bento and seemed to like it more than I liked my meal - but she did comment that she expected more than 1 shrimp in a "mixed" tempura (her's had 5 veggies and one shrimp). Her box also had california rolls which had way too much mayo mixed in.
I think the most telling sign of the quality of this meal is the fact that we left with having eaten less than half what we were served (and we were starving when we entered). To add to this restautants problems in the kitchen, the food is pretty expensive; especially for what we got. $30 lunch for two people with no alcohol.
I would not recommend this place to anybody.
- Pros: none
- Cons: food quality and prices
Fresh sushi, a lot of choice, friendly staff

Randomly stopped in this restaurant. Had a sushi roll and some Ramen. I was pleasantly surprised that I was brought an appetizer salad for free, and enjoyed it. Staff were very friendly, and menu had alot to choose from. Sushi was fresh and delicious, and the sushi chef made sure I was okay with sushi, even though I wasn't at the sushi bar. Ramen was pretty good, although I wasn't offered typical Japanese pepper for it. Staff and sushi chef were Koreans and not Japanese, though most Americans might not realize this. Still was pretty authentic and worth a stop.
- Pros: fresh sushi, alot of choice on menu, free appetizer salad
- Cons: not entirely authentic... in Hillsboro
What sushi is supposed to taste like.

I?ve finally gotten my man into trying new things. Sushi is the latest and greatest. I?ve taken him to a few low profile sushi go round joints in the area, but decided to try and step up to something more. We went to Tokyo last night, and it was some of the best sushi I?ve had in a looong time. The service was fantastic, as was the presentation. Still learning, we asked quite a few questions and the staff was so helpful in descriptions and choices. They were trying to get a little more exposure for something called "jimbo" which basically had a little bit of everything. Thin sliced tuna, avocado, prawn, and freshwater eel. We decided on that, as well as a golden California roll (a fried version of an the old classic). The Jimbo was fantastic! I would order it again even when its off the special board. The golden California roll was excellent as well. I would highly suggest this establishment to anybody with a love for all things sushi. We are hoping to go back and try more of their menu, including the tempura, and udon.
Pricey, but delicious

Okay, my wife and I have a guilty pleasure, we eat a lot of sushi. We are constantly looking for new places, so we heard about Tokyo from a friend and decided to try it. When we walked in I was a bit afraid. The place is nicely decorated, but the fish in the bar looked less than fresh. We decided to give it a shot anyway, and we were surprised several times. The first was with the friendliness and experience of the Chef. There is only one Chef, so he may be slow, but his work is quality. I think he uses different fish than what you find in the bar window, because the sushi came out beautiful and fresh. The miso soup was a bit salty, but the rolls and nigri were spot on. The last surprise came with the bill. This place is more spendy than our other haunts, so I cannot give it my full recommendation...but if you don't care too much for coin, give it a shot. I still suggest traveling down the road a bit to check out Sushi & Maki instead, but Tokyo can do.
- Pros: Fresh fish, competent chef
- Cons: More expensive than others
Great food, if you have the time
