don't go here!
by sonali
horrible experience. I made an appointment here to get my eyebrows done. On the day of the appointment, from my car I called the Hawthorne location to confirm that is where I had my appointment, as there are two locations in the area. The Hawthorne location people told me the appointment is in Bethany. I called Bethany location to tell them I was going to be a few minutes late. They told me my appointment was in Hawthorne location. I called the Hawthorne location again and they confirmed that the appointment was with them.
I was 10 minutes late due to all this driving back and forth (I was calling from the car). Then they told me that the person who was supposed to help me had left for the day. (In their final call, Hawthorne location had assured me that it was fine that I was going to be a few minutes late.) They told me to wait for 15 minutes so someone else could help me. I waited.
Then they gave me a form to fill out. Please be absolutely sure you do not value your privacy, if you plan to have even your eyebrows done in this place. You are asked your email, date of birth, robe size, shoe size among other things. Also the questions below - I am going to take the time to type them out, it is entertaining to think why they need to know all of this in order to do my eyebrows. The person at the place told me I *had* to fill it all out. I refused and declined the service. (In keeping with their "policy" :P when I called back to confirm their policy, they told me I only needed to give out the name and address, and answer all the 27 entertaining questions below.)
1. Are you currently under a doctor's care? (Most questions are followed by something like "if yes, please describe)
2. Are you taking any (citysearch won't let me type this word) d***s or medications?
3. Have you had any recent (acute) injuries or illnesses?
4. Have you ever had a dislocated joint? (This was probably the question that made me refuse. I refuse to answer whether I had a dislocated joint in order to get my eyebrows done. )
5. Do you have any chronic injuries or illnesses?
6. Do you have any open cuts or sores?
7. Have you ever had cancer? (If yes, please describe location)
8. Do you have any circulatory problems such as bruising easily or vericose veins?
9. Do you have high or low bl pressure?
10. Do you have diabetes?
11. Do you have heart disease?
12. Are you allergic to any oils, lotions, or fragrances?
13. Do you have any special concerns pertaining to your body?
14. Do you smoke?
15. Have you had chemical peels?
16. Do you use Retin-A?
17. Have you ever used an acne (citysearch won't let me type the actual word, let's say - ) medicine?
18. Do you wear contact lenses?
19. Do you have any special skin problems?
20. Do you ever experience skin breakouts?
21. Do you blush easily when nervous?
22. Are you currently due for your menstrual cycle?
23. Have you had recent dental x-rays?
24. Are you pregnant?
25. What type of massage do you prefer? light/medium/firm
26. What level do you consider your pain tolerance to be?
27. Have you ever experienced claustrophobia?
There they are! I might have tried to convince myself that they were just trying to do an excellent job at protecting me by being extra extra careful, if they had not told me I could fill out the form *after* I had my eyebrows done. :)
What is happening to our privacy? Are you ready to answer these questions just to get your eyebrows done? Change begins with us - take a minute now, and call the management of this company to let them know it is unacceptable to ask for such irrelevant private details - their number is 503-640-6404.
Gift Card was Best Present Ever!
by HappyCarol
I had never been to The Pointe until my boyfriend surprised me with a gift card. Having never been before, I called to inquire what service they might recommend. The pedicure and facial sounded good, but this time of year, I decided to go for the chocolate/mud papaya wrap and the massage. Thank you to whomever I spoke with for the great recommendation and taking the time to educate me. After my visit, I felt totally rejuvenated and beyond relaxed like they said I would. The different showerheads were cool (5 different heads...waterfall, fountain,sprayer...etc.) and the shea butter massage was the perfect ending. The staff treated me like a queen and the atmosphere was totally relaxing. I will definitely plan to go back. I would highly recommend this Spa.
- Pros: Service, Atmosphere, Chocolate-Papaya Wrap, Massage
- Cons: I didn't go sooner!
Amazing Everything.
by foodie89
This place is fabulous. The service was completely wonderful. They were helpful, attentive, caring and always there for the customers, like we were their #1 priority. I have received two services there, one the massage... amazing I was completely in a daze after from being so relaxed. I had Victor as my masseuse and he was fabulous. I also had a bronze and glow which is amazing. Their shower room is possibly the best shower ever invented. I could live in it. Oh and their shampoo and conditioner smells to die for. They don't rush you in any way and it feels as though they are doing everything in their power to make your day better. Their was a schedule mishap during my massage and in return they gave us two peices of their delicious cheesecake as a token for our inconvenience. We still did not wait more than ten minutes for them to fix the problem. I highly recommend this fabulous spa.
- Pros: Fabulous staff, great facility, really good service and spa
- Cons: Little pricey but totally worth it... trust me
Great atmosphere- you are treated like a queen!

This was the best spa experiece i have had in quite a long time! I had Lisa as a massage therapist and she was great- she was very professional and very friendly. I liked having the club to use before the workout- I had a great day overall!
this is a definate must for a day at "the spa".
Tune out from the world for an hour and come out refreshed!

From the time I got there to the time I left, it was a great experience! I was taken in right at appointment time, the room was quiet with very relaxing music, I had heated blankets, and the European facial done with Susan's hands was fantastic! You'd think she'd used feathers the whole time! There was soft music in the background and I truly felt like I was nowhere near civilization. My skin felt great after and I'm going back in two weeks! Oh, and the complimentary mimosa was great too! Next time I'm going early so I can use the athletic club facility's beforehand - it's free for the day for spa clients!!
- Pros: All good
- Cons: Really no negative to report
Magic hands

I went to this spa for my birthday and all I can say is WOW!! What a great setting and thoughtful staff. I had a facial with Christine Kruse, and I have never feelt so relaxed and pampered. I can say this was the best facial I have ever had( and I have had plenty) Christine is gifted and truly knows her stuff. I allready pre booked my next appoitment with her and am getting 10% off. I am so beyond pleased, I needed to let everyone know.
- Pros: Best facial ever
- Cons: it had to end
A Spa at the Gym
by vlcgoddess
My husband and I enjoyed a nice couples massage here. The service was friendly and very professional, and our massage therapists (Victor and a shorter, cheerful woman whose name I can't remember) were very good. However, I was put off by the gym-like atmosphere. Once you dress down, you're in your robe and waiting in the hallway with everyone; not exactly relaxing. Our massage room was right off the main hallway, and we could hear everything going on, from children running to carts of equipment being wheeled. The noise was very distracting, making it more difficult to relax. The locker rooms are stocked with amenities, but the squealing teenage girls in it detracted from them. Additionally, children were playing in the hot tub as we tried to relax after the massage, which is simply inappropriate. There was plenty of room for them to play in the pool, with plenty of toys; a hot tub is not an appropriate place for a child to play! In summary, the service was great; the atmosphere was not.
- Pros: Amenities, complimentary mimosas, cheerful staff
- Cons: Noisy, children playing, not much privacy
Great hands on service from Ken
by yqnielsen
Ken is the one who keeps me going for the repeat visits. He has the best hands on massage technique - by combining the strength of swedish flow (overall area) and Japanese Shiatsu (focused area). I feel like a different person after I have received the treat. I had an auto accident in July. By having his massage regularly, the pain has been reduced quickly.
This athletic club and spa is a citadel of calm in a sprawling, suburban setting.

In Short
Located in the posh, modern Hawthorn Farm Athletic Club, this serene haven provides services for club members and nonmembers seeking relaxation. The building resembles a high-tech campus, but after signing in at the concierge desk, visitors are led to a place where sweatshirts and fluorescent lights give way to white robes and soothing scents. A variety of aromatherapeutic and herbal massages and body treatments are available, and services include the full use of club facilities.
Shower Room was INCREDIBLE
by batifem33
To the SPA.. It was my very first experience and I had the chocolate body wrap. The technician was very nice and I was very nervous and chatted the whole time. Next time I will definitely TRY to be QUIET and relax. The wrap was really nice and it wasn't just thrown on.. it felt like a massage, too. I LOVE massage. She wrapped me up like a mummy and let me rest for a bit which was really nice.
The best part was the rinse! I was escorted to a private room which was the size of a GIANT walk in closet.. there were three different shower heads: a waterfall, a rain fall, and regular. The entire room was not a "shower" though.. no curtain, just beautiful natural rock type landscape and a huge plant made it feel very tropical. It was SO nice.
- Pros: shower room, free chocolate
- Cons: whirlpool?, sauna?
