Hair in food. I ate here a couple of weeks ago and I found a short, coarse, black hair in my food. It looked like an animal hair or an animal whisker. Luckily, I found this when I started eating. I brought my food back and they refunded my money. Needless to say I won't be going back.  View Less View More

Do not order delivery from them!!!. I have never written a review of a restaurant before (and honestly I usually look at scathing reviews with some skepticism), but I feel inclined to actually spend some time writing this one so that I may save you a headache in the future.

I have never been treated so poorly by a restaurant in my life. Here is the short version, place order at 615, they tell me they are busy so it will be 45 min (fine with us); 700 rolls around tell me it is on its way be there in 15 min. 730 rolls around call ask where it is, she hangs up on us, call back she says its coming. 745 comes and goes we call back saying if the food hasn’t left the place we are canceling she mumbles and hangs up on us again. We call back at 8 and cancel the order , she hangs up with out confirming if she had cancelled the order or our credit card transaction we provided...the short of it...I hear the food is decent, but I will never know bc I will never eat there.  View Less

WORST DELIVERY SERVICE EVER!!!!!. Rudest service I've ever experienced on the phone, complete lies as far as delivery time - was told 30 to 40 mins, it took 90. Then the delivery person called and said she could not find a parking spot, that I needed to come down and get the order. When arrived downstairs, there she was sitting in a parking spot - so not only the slowest delivery ever, the laziest driver ever. I will NOT oder from August Moon ever again, I'm going back to Ling Garden in NW - MUCH better food, price and prompt delivery. Booooooooo August Moon!  View Less View More

Best Chinese Food Period!. After four long years of searching for decent Chinese take out in Portland (I'm originally from the east coast), I have finally found what I was looking for. Amazing food, fast delivery, and great service. I can stop searching because I will never order Chinese food from anywhere else.  View Less View More

Sad lunch. Can I tell you about the saddest lunch I have ever had? I was torn whther to get the baby bok choy w/chicken or the fried rice. I even thought about getting them both. So I called in the order for baby bok choy with chicken and they said "would you like fried rice or white rice?" Imagine how happy I was that fried rice was an option. I was going to get exactly what I wanted when just seconds before I thought I had to sacrifice one for the other. I go down the street, pick up my food and head back to the office. I get to my desk, open the bag and I find baby bok choy w/tofu and white rice!!!

Damnit!!! I am so sad, like really sad about it. I eat it anyway and think, "well at least I have that spring roll". I bite into the spring roll and it cold!!! Not just that it has lost its heat, but it is actually cold. Cold, like from the refrigerator cold. So so sad.  View Less

A pleasant experience.. I recently had the pleasure of dining at August Moon, a Chinese food restaurant on 1st and Clay in Downtown Portland. August Moon is a nice little place without a lot of ambience (at least, not near the window seats where we sat) and the place seemed to be a bit too dark for my liking as you moved further in to the dining area, but there was nothing particularly unpleasant otherwise. The food was absolutely great -- I had the Sesame Chicken and my wife had Beef and Broccoli -- and didn't cost an arm and a leg (expect to pay somewhere around $10 per person, plus tip, drinks, etc.). Their selection of soft drinks was rather limited (only Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, and 7-up), but there's always plenty of water. Service was pleasant -- about on par with any other CHinese restaurant I've been to -- albeit it a bit slow on the food side. We were some of the only people in the restaurant but it still seemed to take a while to get our meal. Howeer, the portions were large (easily enough to have seconds) and the meals came with steamed rice, so it was well worth the wait (especially considering how good the food was). This isn't a super-fancy place, so you won't need to worry about dressing up if you don't want ot, and it seems decent enough for bringing family and small groups. I'd recommend August Moon to anyone who plans on being in the downtown area and is looking for some delicious Chinese food that won't break the bank.  View Less View More

Great Chinese - Great Price. Very comparable to their other NW location. However, this place is much nicer inside. New seating, carpeting, wall decor, etc. Food and portion size is just a slight notch under the NW location. But, you can't beat the FAST carryout window. Everything is awesome and only $4. I've eaten here over 300x. No exaggeration since I used to work closeby and ate lunch their almost everyday! String bean pork is my favorite.  View Less View More

Thank you August Moon!. I've only gotten takeouts from August Moon...never eaten at the restaurant, but in my opinion they are easily one of the best Chinese Restaurants in Portland. Their food is consistently delicious, and their price is very reasonable. Try anything on the menu, and they will impress you. On a hot summer night, nothing is better than their Cold Sesame Noodles to keep you cool, full, and your wallet happy ($6).  View Less View More

August Moon-That's some beautiful food. I've been to August Moon several times, and even ordered out from them. Each time I make the same remark-the food looks gorgeous. The colors are vibrant and it tastes as good as it looks. The waiters there are very eager (maybe a little too eager during slow times) and very friendly. The price is right and the lunch is a real steal with most plates under $10. A great place to take friends before attending events downtown (especially at the Keller since it's so close by). Overall a great restaurant and the best American Chinese food around.  View Less View More

Lunch is better than Dinner.. I've eaten here on a few occasions for a quick lunch, which was excellent. That is the reason I decided to try it out for a quick and romantic dinner. It was like a completely different place for dinner. The service wasn't as efficient or friendly, and the food just wasn't as good. Lunch menu's are large and very quick, excellent for a quick stop. The setting is nice, quite, clean, and somewhat romantic. I would recommend.  View Less View More
