Best Co-op preschool in Portland-Great new location in the Southwest!
by otismeow
When I moved to Portland 3 years ago, I researched all the Cooperative Pre-schools. This one can't be beat for so many reasons! Fantastic teachers! Great outdoor space! Great hours (9-1)! Hugely supportive families and teachers! When I found this one, they were moving to a new location in the Southwest right beside Pendleton Park! I was on the waitlist for 6 months and finally got in when my daughter was 2 years old. They have a 1 year old class, a two year old class, and a 3-5 preschool class. This will be our 3rd year and my daughter couldn't be happier! She couldn't wait for school to start this year! I always look forward to my shift day!
- Pros: Wonderful new location (6053 SW 55th Drive Portland, OR 97221)
- Cons: My daughter never wants to leave!
THE best preschool in all of Portland
by jsvobo
I have had my children at SWPCC for four years and have commuted from NE Portland the entire time. The teachers, the community, everything is more than I could have ever asked for in a preschool for my children. If you are looking for a preschool with an amazing community and great teachers, this is the place for you.
- Pros: Great, nurturing teachers, an amazing outdoor space, a real community to raise your kids in.
- Cons: None!
Fantastic preschool environment
by ELgroth
This is a great cooperative preschool. Not only do I get to see my son in his learning environment, I've learned a lot of skills that have improved my parenting at home. And, we have all made good friends here. The members and teachers are very committed to a high-quality learning environment for the kids. On my shift days, I feel like my time contribution is valued and put to good use and I really enjoy playing with the kids. It's much less stressful than I thought it would be (the teacher is in charge!).
- Pros: great teachers, curriculum and members
- Cons: it takes a lot of parent volunteer work to run a good preschool

I have two children enrolled in this cooperative preschool and we have found supporative community to raise our children in. The classes start as early at 1yr old, and the parents are all extremely involved. We couldn't be happier with our school!
For extra bonus points, it is also certified eco-friendly.
- Pros: Very happy supportive atmosphere
- Cons: Closed for summer
