This was my 2nd time to Assagio, first was about 2 years ago.. that visit wasn't as bad as this one.. just a bland boring meal. On to this visit. made a reservation for sat night for 4 people at 8pm. showed up on time, restaurant was half empty, we were seated fine, and ordered a nice bottle of sicilian wine ( good wine list ). we then ordered apps .. and we ordered about 8 of them... like to mix things up.. first.. grilled shrimp wrapped in proscuitto... absolutley the easiest dish to make.. proscuitto was burned and the shrimp were scorched and dry... olives and cheese were good.. but small portions ( oh well ). salads were greasy, loaded down with too much oil and not much flavor. Wait staff were standing there with our entrees before we had finished our apps.... I waited tables in college and never rushed anyone.. especially when the restaurant wasn't busy like this night. for entrees, pasta was good.. everything else was weak.. we skipped dessert. all in all.. a weak restaurant.. ginos and portofinos in the neighborhood are about 1000% better.

Ate here last week and it was nice. Food was great, my pork loin and my wife's chicken polenta were both delicious. The place has a warm, comfortable atmosphere that we both enjoyed. Our server was very nice, but not at all intrusive like many other places we have been to recently. I'll definitely be back.

Pros: Food, Service, Wine Selection, Atmosphere

Cons: Sometimes a wait on weekends, can be a bit dark for me

I have dined at Assaggio for years, I always enjoyed my experience there, and I still do! I ate at Assaggio last night, it had been some time, at least 4 months. At first I was supprised by the changes on the menu, the prices are higher, and their are fewer pastas. However, I noticed more meat options and specials of the night. I had the stuffed chicken special and it was wonderful. My friend had the ravioli, and he loved his dinner as well. The ravioli was in a light broth, and it was a nice change from a heavy cheesey cream sauce. Also, we loved the dessert, it was the best cannoli I have ever eaten, no kidding! After dinner last night, I will be back and It will be sooner than 4 months!

Pros: great food

Cons: dont have any

We were very excited about going to Assagio for my birthday, we had gotten a babysitter, we had been there before, we even talked about what we were going to order on the way there. Much to our dismay the service was HORRIBLE. We ordered salads and 20 minutes later our server came back and asked us if we were having the soup. We brushed this off, but as we waited we heard the table next to us speaking with the manager about the service that table experiened. As we ate our salad our server came over once more to fill our wine glasses and then finally brought our main dishes. I had thought about my pasta with lemon grass sauce for the week prior to us actually getting there, and what do I get served, but lingune with shrimp (the dish is supposed to be spegetti w/ scallops). They did fix the dish, but all in all the taste was different and the pasta was not what it used to be. I was very disapointed. We had heard there was new ownership, and it was not as good, but we kept the faith and went anyway. What a disapointment! I would recommend NOT going to Assagio until whomever owns it now figures out how to cook and how to hire wait staff. Sellwood needs a new Itailan go to! Any takers????

After having three amazing experiences dining at Assagio, my husband and I decided to celebrate Valentine's Day with them. What a dissappointment!!! They decided to switch from serving their unforgettable bread and rich, infused olive oil to incredibly unsubstantial "air" bagette. The olive oil? It was virtually tasteless and certainly not infused with anything! Assagio is known for their fabulous wine selection, so we were truly excited for this part of the meal. I was horrified when I was served a dirty glass of wine that had sediment on the sides of the glass. When the server put the glass onto the table, drips from the bottom of the glass splashed off. When I picked the glass up, my had was covered in wine that was coating the stem. I know this sounds picky, but when you pay $45 a person, you expect clean service. Unfortunately, the food was also pretty disappointing. I ordered salmon which was overcooked. My husband ordered a steak which contained too much fat. Assagio! What happened!?! Are you trying to cut corners to make more profit? Are you under new ownership?!?! You used to be our absolute favorite spot to dine, but unless things change, we will not be back.

Pros: wine selection

Cons: cleanliness, service, and food

Hey Sellwood you got what you wanted...Bring your bratty kids and throw the pasta ..oh don't worry its not home-made were're the new Assaggio's and if you don't like it then" go " " yourself. We don't need to achieve or aspire to old school techniques let's just hinge on our reputation that we didn't build...but hey we own it now so....give us your money...do you Sellwoodians now the difference..? Oh for the previous reviewers who so-called proclaimed it's greatness please go back to school and not stand up for you buddies..thats self-mutilation And for the reviewers who are bummed no love lost here. The neighborhood deserves this restaurant..a perfect fit to a high blue-collared society. These accolades of the new Assaggio seem to have a somewhat cultured love, similiar to Anna Nicole Smith, and the so-called genuine hospitality along with the experienced 25 year old chef...can you believe it.... I can, especially the snooty pretentious nature of mediocrity, or better yet just take the bribe, it's evident that the structure still inhibits the cry of why..why..why...and the relief of I'm out of Sellwood....A blessing in disguise and a bitter payback for those who go nowhere and believe that they are a legend in their minds. Please welcome the new Assaggio's. And hey bring the kids....you'll here them scream ..it could be the future generation cryin out ...

Pros: A ghost of the past

Cons: Cocky
