Good pizza and drinks, felt very unsafe
by ezseven7
I only saw one security person during my visit on the 3rd, may have seen another couldnt tell by his actions. For as many people as were there, i would be feeling more comfortable with more secirity!! ,
- Pros: underage drinking not monitored !!
- Cons: crappy shows
Best shows that come to Portland

There are so many great acts that play at the Aladdin, that I could go there for any show that I've never heard of!
Run-down movie theater turned rockin' live-music venue.

In Short
The Aladdin has retained its movie-house setup with comfy, bolted-down seats and a small balcony in the back. There isn't a bad seat in the house, and the sound is always great. If you miss dinner before the show, no worries--the Aladdin offers pizza by the slice and microbrews on tap. It's usually a relaxed crowd and concerts are almost always general admission, but be prepared to stand during danceable shows.
Great place for a show
by theclotheslady
A little out of the way for a traveler but the taxi knew where it was and only took about 10 minutes from the benson hotel. the show was good and it was well organized. The sound was a 7 out of 10, all you can expect out of an old building.
- Pros: close to downtown, fun building
Ouch!
by raylene_v
We couldn't last through the opening act. The bar downstairs sent me upstairs to get a mojito. It was so crowded up there I had to push my way out to get back downstairs. There was very little seating and that was all taken up when we got there. The music was so loud when the opening act started up that I wasn't sure I wanted to stand there long enough to see the main act. Then it got louder! We left without getting our money back. We will never go there again and would recommend against it to any one who asked. Why can't the small venues get that it's the quality of the sound not the quantity? Do they have a one size fits all sound set up? You'd think they were trying to fill the Rose Garden!
- Cons: Parking?, Loud!, next to no seating
best place to see live music in Portland!!!
by aruback
Besides the Schnitzer Hall, this is BY FAR the best place to see a live show in Portland. the acoustics of the room make the Crystal & Roseland look SILLY! although this venue is geared towards more of a sit-down show, I have seen the place sold-out and dancing as well. I can not say enough GREAT things about the Aladdin Theater. go check it out!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Pros: great line-up, great sound, friendly staff
Tight Quarters
by alegna32
Really great place, but if you're tall, or wider, you'll find the lower rows of seats tight and cramped. I like the fact they serve beer, wine and pizza, and there is a restaurant attached, Paola's, that opens the door to the Aladdin at just about the same time as the street door opens. Handy.
- Pros: Intimate, Sound Quality
- Cons: , Small seats, Small seats!
The Perfect Music Venue!
by debd
My first visit to the Aladdin was just last night to see Pink Martini. What a perfect music venue - not a bad seat in the house (2 levels, best seats downstairs), not too big, room up front to dance and, food and drinks if you missed dinner. Great value, too. I'm all to eager to see another great concert performance at the Aladdin!
great all-ages shows
by decembre
All shows at the Aladdin are all-ages, but to keep the older crowd happy, they do serve beer. I love how the place has a small venue feel even though it accomodates a lot more people than some of the other clubs in Portland. Although I have only seen 5 shows here, every one of them was great!
