Everything was awesome. Really laid-back, great service and a wide range of food. We had cod and ox tail and both were amazing. Though the ox tail scared me at first after I tried it I wanted more and more and more!

  • Pros: Service (Andrew), environment, location, people, menu
  • Cons: nothing at all

The cajun fish sandwich was NOT very good AT ALL. but everything else has been wonderful. Fish baskets are awesome, and the cioppino is to die for! the coleslaw is good. but the cioppino and clam chowder are the number ones!

  • Pros: service, food.
  • Cons: cajun sandwich needs less spices. yuck

What doesn't look like much from the outside is a great surprise inside. They have a great selection of fresh fish dishes and an always rotating menu of Oregon beers. The wairstaff is always friendly and curteous. It is a little pricey, but definitely worth it. I make a point to eat there at least once a month. The Cioppino soup and fish baskets are always a good choice.

  • Pros: fresh ingredients, friendly staff, great beer selection
  • Cons: crowded tables

I ordered a blackened fish sandwich and coleslaw yesterday, and was pretty disappointed. The fish was a mess of bright red oil and spices, there was absolutely no distinguishable fish flavor to be found. I'd might as well have been eating bologna or tofu. This was served on a bun, covered with melted cheddar, making this one of the greasiest sandwiches I've ever eaten, and I just got back from eating tortas in Mexico! Red oil was literally running all over the plate.

The coleslaw it came with was also some of the worst I've ever had. It seemed to be a thin mix of cabbage and mayonnaise. Unbelievably bland.

Perhaps their mains are better, but I'm not sure I'm going to bother.

  • Pros: Fresh produce on the sandwich
  • Cons: Can't taste the fish

We visited the Fishwife for lunch today. Nothing fancy here, just cleanly prepared seafood, crinkle-cut fries that were obviously cooked in fresh oil, and some nice sides - - we tried the cole slaw and it was quite good. We opted for grilled cod and grilled oysters; both were cooked in butter but were not drowned in it, and both were just right - - cooked but not overdone. Bottled beer prices are reasonable - - in fact, ALL the prices are very reasonable. About the only fancy touch was the incongruous white cloth napkin, since the basic atmosphere is more or less diner, but it is clean and comfortable, and we were knocked out by how friendly everyone on the staff was. We'll be back for dinner and are looking forward to trying out the chowders.

  • Pros: good fresh seafood that's not cooked to death, highly affordable
  • Cons: not for those nights when you're looking for elegance

My boyfriend and I go to the fishwife normally once a week. We love the fresh seafood specials that are always changing. There is at least a new type of seafood to try every week. The service is always great, and the staff friendly. If you are looking for good clam chowder, look no farther! The crab cocktail is always excellent (it's what I have every time). One downfall would have to be the water is normally not iced, so it's not cold, but if you can look past the water you won't be disappinted!

  • Pros: Fresh seafood, quality meals
  • Cons: Water not iced, small restuant so not great for large crowds

Every Saturday nite I go to the Fishwife for my weekly treat to myself. It's become like my weekend kickoff mantra. The service is always friendly and down to earth, they have an impressive list of quality brews, and the food is consistently excellent. My favorites are the fresh Dungeness crab cocktails and the Cod fish & chips; which is a huge serving and a steal at under $7! Their halibut is great too, but the Cod is my favoite, so light & moist. If Im feeling a little more outside the box, i usually go for the dinner specials; which change from week to week based on what fresh seafood is available. Last Friday I tried the chef's choice, a classic sauteed mussell dish made with bacon, apples, brandy & cream...it was pretty much in the top 5 meals of my life! The specials at the Fishwife are always impressive, and I was pleased to notice an addition of a naturally raised meat special to their menu. Finally I can talk my best friend who hates seafood into enjoying my Saturday nite tradition!

  • Pros: some may think Fishwife lacks ambience; but it more than makes up for it with unpretention
  • Cons: its a smaller place, so on busy friday nights expect a short wait

I have been going to this place for years. The atmosphere is comfortable and homey...the prices are a bit high for my taste but the food has always been worth it. The chowder is so thick and yummy. Their grilled Halibut is my favorite, it is so good and perfectly cooked and seasoned. Their clams strips are bigger than I have ever seen and so good. The owners are nice people too. I took a friend there yesterday to introduce her to the best clam chowder in town. She was nervous to try it b/c she is so picky, so the owner gave her a free taste, which was more like a free cup of chowder. My friend loved it! I highly recommend this place.
