Damn Good Sandwiches

by alexcwilliams

Gotta love the Chicken Parm Sub, the Chicago Beef, and the Geraldi Torpedo.

This place is for serious east coast style sub lovers, no posers allowed.

  • Pros: Food, Ambiance, Service
  • Cons: A tad Expensive

Best Italian Sandwich Shop in Portland.

by Brucie

Thankfully, with the death of the owner his wife is willing to continue with the business. The sandwiches are all great and a large for the money.. Top quality.

If you've tried the Geraldi's in suburban locations and weren't happy, please don't pass this establishment by based on those experiences. The sandwiches are of the highest quality as are the hot plates.

  • Pros: Friendliness, down home feeling
  • Cons: a bit more expensive.

Good Eats

by jdabkowski

Tasty grub, but the prices seem to be getting a bit to high for the fare. $7.45 for a half sub (6") seems a bit steep. I'll still go and visit every so often, just not as much as I used to. Still great eats and service though!

  • Pros: Food, service
  • Cons: Price, limited seating

THE BEST SUB ANYWHERE

by centercci

Well, I just have a few words to describe Geraldi's. The Best Subs Heros around Portland. You can't find the same kind of heros anywhere around Portland, not even at the other Geraldi's (Beaverton or Flanders) I 'm a busy person but i don't mind to deal with the traffic to be able to go to get a hero at Geraldi's on 4th. I work on SE Portland just about 15 miles from downtown, and is just plain simple, there is no other sub shop that makes you wanna come back to get one more during the week, I have taken other friends and co-workers with me to Geraldi's and We all say the same, their subs are AWESOME. to make you want to return many times a week no matter how long it takes to get there and to go back to to the SE side. We enjoy the owners conversation too. Thank you for the great food.

  • Pros: Great Food and Service. And the prices are just for what you get.
  • Cons: None.

Great subs

by pdxdonk

I was checking Citysearch for a good sub shop downtown and this had lots of recommendations. I went there and was not disappointed. The "Spicy Geraldi" was a wonderous pile of meats and cheese on a fresh sub roll topped with lettuce, onion, tomato and, of course, italian dressing. That's the sub for me. On other visits I have tried the meatball and sausage subs, and the ravioli and garlic bread. They were good but the spicy sub is still my fave. Good place for quick business lunch.

  • Pros: Great little sub shop.
  • Cons: Limited seating.

Awesome Subs

by jaimenicolec

I've been eating at Geraldi's for 10 years now and have NEVER been dissapointed. They even kept me happy through my vegetarian years (the Big Cheese is soooo good). Don't forget to order a side of garlic bread!

  • Pros: bread, service, price
  • Cons: not on the east side

A little piece of the East Coast

by markdaman

I have never been one to eat at a restaurant and couldn't wait get back to my computer to write a review, but I have also never ate at a place like Geraldi's...In one word...WOW!!! This has got to be the best italian food I have tasted since my trip to NYC 5 years ago. The meatball sandwich literally melts in your mouth, the spices are just right and the cheese is plentiful...I also recomend the Chicago Beef and their lasagna...in fact, I haven't tried anything yet I wouldn't give my highest rating too. Very affordable, large portions, BIG taste...5 STARS!

  • Pros: Inexpensive, Fast Service, Excellent Quality

Displaced New Yorkers, homesick for their corner Italian sandwich deli, can find solace here.

by Contributor

In Short
For more than 10 years, Portlanders have enjoyed the sandwiches here which feature fresh-baked Italian bread and all the traditional Italian deli meats. Try a Torpedo--hot roast beef with peppers, onions, pepperoni and mozzarella cheese; or have a meatball sandwich with spicy tomato sauce and gobs of melted cheese. Pastas and salads are also available.

Mmmmmm....

For a great taste of East Coast deli at a great value, Geraldi's on 4th is a must visit on anyone's lunch list. The selection is fantastic (the Italian Beef is my favorite!), and the service is second to none. The restaurant itself is quaint, has a great atmosphere, and serves up their Italian fare hot and quick. Most days it's even served with an authentic Boston accent! :)

Whether you get you food to go, or eat in, either way it's a great meal. You'll be back!

  • Pros: Great value, Great food, Great service
