This place is fantastic!!. So this is my first review on citysearch but I had to make sure that no one believes the review about bong water and rap music. Seriously, that person must have walked into the wrong place and got all types of confused from their own three day old bong water. I have been going to Aroy's for over ten years. I went to high school downtown and have been working downtown for the past six. I regularly call an order in and it never takes more than fifteen minutes. I have turned crazy amounts of friends, co-workers and ex-boyfriends onto this amazing food! My best friend lives in Florida now but as soon as she comes home we go to 'thai food' as we've called since our sophomore year of high school. I have tried many other places but this by far is my favorite!! The hot and spicy noodles are on the dinner menu but they are terrific!! By far my favorite, but the yellow curry, pad thai, pad see ew and fried rice are all exceptional as well!!  View Less View More

Fantastic food on a budget. I see one person gave it one star, complaining about no veggies (a more usual complaint about Asian restaurants would be too much veggie, not enough meat!) and rap music. I've been there many times and have never noticed music, which would mean that any music was either Thai or not there at all. As for the food, ignore the troll, this is by far the best Thai food bargain in town. The only downside for some is that it's "dry" (no alcohol). Since I go there for lunch mainly, this doesn't really bother me. If you want a curry to start with, I'd recommend the Red Curry (probably the most popular Thai curry and one many people would use as a benchmark) or the Panang, which is actually my own favorite. If you don't want curry, their Thai Basil and Pad Thai are almost without compare.

Don't let their lower-than-average prices fool you: this is Thai food at its best.  View Less

Low quality. You know your meal is going to be bad, when you can't even drink the water. Three day old bong water... The food was ok, but had no veggies in it at all. It may be cheap, but you get what you pay for here. To top it all off they had really offensive gangster rap playing from a boom box on the counter. Really people?! Save yourself the disappointment...  View Less View More

Great no frills low priced lunch thai place downtown. The atmosphere is casual and "no frills," but all the staff is friendly, fills your water, and makes some great classic thai dishes. The prices are also quite stellar for the amount and quality of the food.  View Less View More

PAD THAI!. Order the Pad Thai.. With Chicken or veggies.. It's great! I get it once a week. You will be full after your huge portion, I guarantee it. The cook and waitress are super nice. Good people.  View Less View More

Best Pineapple Fried Rice. This is a great lunch place. My coworkers and I stumbled onto it one day at lunch, and are so glad we did. It's a little hole in the wall with very little sitting room - but it's worth waiting for a table. The fried rice is what I go back for, and ask for pineapple to be added to give it extra flavor. It's wonderful! The service is great too. There is only the hostess and the cook - the hostess is so sweet and helpful.

I strongly recommend this place for anyone who likes Thai food - and for anyone who is knew to the area, you get a good "flavor" of the downtown lunch scene by going here. The servings are good portions for the price as well.  View Less

Best eat for the buck!. I have been in love with this resturant since I was in high-school, when I seldom had much spending money. It has stayed a favorite through my starving college student years and I still visit whenever I am in the mood for tasty Thai that I don't have to break the bank for. My favorite combo remains pad thai and an order of yellow curry. This $14 order can easily stuff three people with hearty appetites.  View Less View More

A definite find. I am writing this review strictly because I never want this place to close. Some advice: Best thing to get is the coconut soup. Hands down. We have tried many - from Typhoon to E-san. This stands out, other dishes are good, but get this if you want a new favorite dish in Portland. The waitress (same one always) is super, super nice.  View Less View More

Thai-rific!. Great, authientic thai food at prices you won't believe! You definately won't overpay for Americanized food like you do at most places. The owners are some of the nicest people around, and did I mention the food is unbelievably good?!  View Less View More
