I come here every so often, when I need to get away from the usual scene and feel pampered. The staff is courteous and attentive to your needs. The renovation is fabulous and the service continues to climb higher and higher in excellence. The location is perfectly situated for downtown activties and events. Highly recommended for in-laws who are visiting, romantic evenings and bachelorettes. All fit this unique hotel!
Pros: Serice, location, amenities
Cons: No room service

What a great experience! The service was ridiculously good. I've never met a friendlier staff and felt more at home in any other hotel. This boutique style hotel is beautiful! The decoration from lobby to room was like stepping into a Interior Design catalog...I walked through the hotel eyeing every corner for decor ideas! From the front desk to the valet guys down below, everyone went out of their way to chat with us, offer directions or places to see, and were just generally nice. Coming from Los Angeles, this felt like another planet! Great place to stay, especially for the money. A hotel like this should cost $300-$400 in any other big city! I highly recommend!
Pros: Beautiful, great location, terrific service, great value

In portland last week and stayed at the hotel. While it is slightly off the Main Drag it appears that everything in Portland is within walking distance. Very close to Powells Books, the Pearl District and the Waterfront. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable and the service was friendly. The hotel Concierge did a great job at directing to some great restaurants in the city and we will be back because of it.
Pros: service, rooms
Cons: slightly off the main street

We love this hotel and stay here whenever we come to town. The rooms are spacious and the staff is SO helpful and kind. Book the romance package, they deliver champagne and sprinkle rose petals on your bed...LOVE IT!
Pros: recently renovated, great customer service
Cons: ?

This hotel is up there with the best of them. Not only is the decor fun and funky while maintaining class, the service is unbelievable. The staff bend over backwards to make even the most mundane of hotel stays something to write home about. I recently stayed for a business meeting and found the entire experience (meeting not included) delightful. My dealings with the sales/conference people went smoothly and they worked hard to accomodate my group's every need. The front desk and bellmen, etc. really made the stay special by remembering my name and making genuine, friendly conversation with me throughout my time there. The wine hour is also something else; during my stay the hotel brought in Voodoo Doughnuts to compliment the wine! It was kitcshy and cute--not to mention delicious. One last thing is Art, the hotel Lobby Dog. His big personality is like icing on the cake. The special touches this hotel is committed to are why I will look for Kimpton hotels whenever I travel.
Pros: Service, charm.
Cons: None that I saw.

I've been to Portland many times and this hotel knocks all of the other ones out of the park!! The staff is fantastic, the rooms are beautiful, the wine hour is so great. Also, what a great LOOKING staff from the front desk to the bellmen and valets...oh my! And they have a dog named Art who's sooo cute!!! I recommend this hotel to everyone!
Pros: CUTE staff
Cons: None

Planning a wedding long distance is hard enough without the extra headaches from hotel monaco. We planned to use this hotel for out of town guests for our wedding, but regret the day we contacted Hotel Monaco. They drafted a contract and blocked in our rooms based on PRELIMINARY conversations. Then showed no flexibility and were unwilling to accomodate us for a larger number of guests. we needed to increase the number of rooms and they REFUSED. they also refused to allow guests to come the night before. Reservations, sales, and the director all told me the only choice we had was for guests to pay full price for friday night and get the discounted rate on saturday. Wrong there was another choice, we booked our block of rooms at the Westin.
Pros: nightly wine tasting
Cons: unprofessional customer service, inability to be flexible or adapt

The last weekend of Spring Break, my boyfriend and I decided to take a weekend away for ourselves and stay downtown. We found Hotel Monaco through Citysearch and decided to try it out. We got a great deal from their website by making reservations 14 days in advance. When we got there, the people were great, but discovered that we did not have a plasma TV and DVD player in our room, which the site stated we should (and what we reserved for). After my boyfriend mentioned this on our way back to our room before dinner, the front desk person was great. She stated that some of the renovations were done, but that was one that wasn't. They had the TV's and DVD's but didn't have the furnature yet to put them in. For our trouble, she gave us a complimentry contential breakfast for our room, and free Valet parking (which at $27 was great!). We had a wonderful nights stay, and great service all around. Not only that, but dinner at the Red Star was wonderful! We would love to stay there again for weekend get aways, not to far from home. It's a great hotel to stay even if you just want a place to crash downtown after a night of partying!
Pros: A very attentive and accomedating staff

A true Portland gem. Fifth Avenue Suites is one of my favorite hotels in Portland. I held my 35th birthday a few years back and booked out 5 rooms for friends and myself. The staff was fantastic, the room decor amazing, and we were all extremely comfortable.
