Mixed experience
by madhatter84 at Citysearch
This reviewer gives Straight to the Point 3/5 stars. I had a very mixed experience.
I came to Straight to the Point because I have a lot of friends who recommended it to me. On the possitive side, the shop was clean. Everything looked really sterile. A guy in white scrubs with "apprentice" across the back greeted me and was very nice and friendly while I waited. Next I met Nick my piercer. He seemed a little agitated and kind of upset, which made me a little uncomfortable, especially because he was about to pierce me. In the piercing room, he seemed to get more and more impatient with my many questions, but soon caught himself and began calling me pet names such as "sweety" to calm me down. Unfortunately, I do not take very kindly to complete strangers calling me pet names, so this only made me more nervous about getting pierced. I was glad when the piercing was finally over, and then I went to the counter to pay. The piercing was a lot more expensive then other shops I called told me it would be and I remember feeling like Nick had been unclear about pricing before I got my piercing done on purpose.
To be fair Nick could have been having an offday, which I think is true, considering all the other rave reviews on this site. I'm a possitive person and I like to focus on the possitive, so things I like about STTP include how clean the place was, the spray after care I was given, and the visual appeal of the shop. Despite my experience with the actual piercing process, my new piercing is healing really well and was clearly done by a professional.
Thanks to all at Straight to the Point. I'll come back for my next piercing to give the shop and its employees one more shot.

I went in a day ago and got some microdermals done by gorge, GREAT service. He was quick, and made it as painless as possible by talking me through the process. Everything was clean and sterilized. It's a very professional, yet friendly environment. Best piercing experience I've had yet.

I had my belly button pierced by George at the Tanasbourne location. He let me pre-buy the jewelry two weeks before the piercing because I wanted to make sure they had exactly what I wanted when I came in on my birthday. When I got the piercing, I received 5-star treatment. Everything was very clean or new and I was very comforatable and confident I had made the right choice with Straight to the Point. Thank you George and Straight to the Point. I will recommend you to anyone and I will return :o)
- Pros: Clean! Professional!
Wonderful

I went with my friend to get my navel pierced. I was so nervous because the last thing I'd had pierced was my ear lobes, and that was at least 10 years ago. Everyone in the shop was really friendly though, which was awesome and very reassuring. I was a bit blown away by the price since I'd been checking out different shops' sites to get an idea of the price range and STTP doubled some prices I'd seen, but I know with piercings and tattoos you don't want to go cheap or you'll pay for it one way or another so that wasn't a real big problem.
The piercing process itself was very quick and not as painful as I'd expected. They were really good about cleaning everything up and spraying down all the counters and cabinets before and after each piercee, which was nice to see and made me feel even better. Everything about it was great, although I was surprised my friend and I weren't given anything to use in the aftercare. We got a pamphlet detailing some of the basics for taking care of our new piercings, and I'm glad I have a physical page I can refer to; I know I'd be worried I'd forget something otherwise. When looking into other shops they all seemed to give at least a little sample of H2Ocean or other piercing/tattoo products, but we didn't get anything here which seemed strange, especially considering how much we payed. Looking through older comments on here it sounds like products used to be given out... If nothing else it would have been nice to have some available for purchase so you don't have to worry about running to a store right away and finding something that'll work and not harm your new art. Thankfully my friend still had some from a recent piercing that she let me take, and so far so good! It's not nearly as tender as I expected. I feel silly having been so nervous before! I'm glad I got it and I'm glad we chose to go to STTP :) If I'm ever back in the area and in the mood for something new, I know where I'll be going for sure.
*The only other mild complaint I'd have is scrolling through the portfolio. Everything looked amazing in it, and it was, as usual, really neat and inspiring to see the work that's been done in the shop, but there wasn't a page letting you know that the next turn would have you face to face with people's genitalia... That was shocking for my friend and I. We still appreciate the work of the artists, and the tolerance of the people who can go through those procedures, but it would have been nice to know there were actually those pictures in there so we could have stopped before arriving at those pages... :/
- Pros: Clean; friendly staff; quick piercing
- Cons: Pricey; Not much aftercare

i am new to town and just happen to be walking by STTP. i decided to peek in and get my nose pierced. now that i have experienced the STTP difference, i understand what everyone on city seach is bragging about. if i had done my research (rather than the impulsive drop in), i would have landed at the same studio!
george is absolutely fabulous. there is no pretentiousness about him or the studio. i did not feel out of place or awkward (with no visible tattoos or piercings). i was treated courteously and respectfully by the entire staff. george was very informative on the process, the care, and the STTP studio support after initial piercing. i was in and out in about 20 minutes.
in a nutshell, this is a cool, edgy studio, but don't let the decor distract you from the reason you are there. these people are well-trained professionals who will take excellent care of you before, during, and after your piercing.
- Pros: clean, professional, friendly, and knowledgable
- Cons: none

Short and Sweet!

I got a VCH piercing yesterday at Straight To The Point. Nick was my piercer and was super mellow and non-intimidating. I felt very comfortable upon meeting him and he definitely helped calm my nerves.
The preparation did not take long at all - I was in and out in about 15 minutes. Nick explained the procedure and an idea of what the pain would feel like.
Last night the piercing location was quite swollen, but not painful at all.
Now, less than 24 hours later, the swelling is down quite a bit and there is minor bruising. The pain is pretty minor, and would probably not be noticeable if it were not in my "private parts".
If I ever have the urge to have a needle shoved through my flesh, I will definitely have Nick do it!
Overall a good experience! Thank you!
- Pros: clean, well-trained staff, good location
- Cons: cost

I love sttp, because they answer my questions. They are professional and clean. And i've had to come back on several occasions and they've helped me figure out what was wrong with my piercing or they've made great suggestions.
Pretty much they rock.
- Pros: legit
- Cons: medium priced in comparison to some other joints.
