Great strip club, but need better security!

by Jay1212

The new downtown location is a great place to party and see

hot male strippers. But it draws in some rougher types.

They need professional security instead of the former go-go

boy who wanders the floor.

Good crowds on weekends, with a good beer bash late

Sunday afternoons. Upstairs balcony, outdoor patio

and quieter pool room give you some options to move

around. Enjoy!

  • Pros: Stylish, large club
  • Cons: Security, parking

Typical gay bar with good stippers

by computerweasel

Great strippers. Lots of eye candy. It's definately the "meat market" of the Portland Gay Bars. 3 bars, an outer area for smoking, a cat walk, strippers, pool, video poker and some grease food.

Not in a good location, despite the move to a new building. Brings in a lot of the transients off the street and sub-standard clientele.

Good place for flirting and dropping singles in strippers thongs though!

  • Pros: Great Macho Nachos!!! Average drinks, atmosphere with eye candy strippers and a great place to flirt
  • Cons: NO DANCE FLOOR, Sub-standard clients, a little trashy

Fun club, some rude, burned out staff

by Magician07

The new club downtown is great! Large stage with video screens, and plenty of room

to move around to a balcony, back patio, and quieter pool room and lounge. Much better

floorplan. However, they kept the same staff, many who have " cold " personalities. The

African American " floor manager " pushes customers around, throws attitude and jumps

onstage to mess up the shows. The doorman seems more like a jail warden, no warm

welcome here. Even if you've been coming here for years, many staff will look right thru

you, like they don't know you. Some have burned out, and they need to refresh the staff.

They have brought in new dancers which is great, but still need to replace a few of

the same, tired dancers. Great crowd on weekends, probably your best bet, if you are

from out of town. Maybe some creative events during the week, like stand up comics

would bring in a weekday crowd. Limited parking, you may just want to pay in the lot

nearby.

Interesting, entertaining, but not worth the effort to figure out

by Patrick97214

I have mixed feelings about the Silverado?s new location. I?ve been going to the Silverado regularly for several years and am starting to question why. I often leave wondering whether there are things going on in the club that I?m better off not knowing. For example, are the dancers straight, gay, hustling? Why is the staff sometimes very friendly and other times aloof? Why are so many customers (of all sizes, shapes, and ages) so self-absorbed? Why do some of the cutest guys there bring a ?girlfriend? with them? The traffic pattern at the new club is horrible on a busy night or on a Sunday afternoon. Going to the bar to get a drink and navigating customers who will not move an inch only encourages me to sip my drinks very slowly. The new club appears to have retained its loyal following of customers and stable of male ?performers,? so they must be doing something right. I suppose I should just accept that I?m stepping into another world for a couple of hours ? a world where the rules don?t necessarily make sense and where people aren?t always behaving at their best. The one bright spot at the new club is the cocktail waiter ? he makes everything else tolerable.

dirty, filthy excuse for a bar

by woodsyowl

Why the gay men in Portland flock to this dump I will never know. I used to go occasionally just because that is where everyone went. I got so tired of the flith and the rude employees I quit going there and have not been back in over a year. It is obvious they are making alot of money but spend none of it fixing the place up. I was hoping they would take a clue from the new Scandals and update the place but the owners are more interested in how big their bank accounts are than running a clean bar. Makes me wonder what visitors from out of town must think. i will spend my money elsewhere thank you.

  • Pros: love the clientele
  • Cons: dirty and sleazy

Rudest Staff at a Gay Bar in the USA

by trexxster

I have been to so many gay clubs while traveling around the united states and I can promise you I have never seen anything as bad as the Silverado. The guy at the front door was so rude to some of the people coming in the door in front of us. We were watching the whole scene and the two guys coming in were nice guys visiting from out of town also (we talked to them on the way in). If this is how Portland caters to visitors, I have no desire to return. Another bar, called CC's was not that crowded, but the staff were super sweet and they had good priced drinks. Honestly, if you are coming to Portland and you are gay, you should just change your flight and find another locale. This place is terrible and I wouldn't come back for the gay community.

  • Pros: None that I could find
  • Cons: Terrible staff

Best Hot Bods In PDX!

by sylvia_m_berrios

I love coming here! Ever since Mardigrass (my first time here) I was pleased! I've gotten to know most of the dancers who are really cool but some have their little stories which you can't figure out (lol), other than that they are fun! Not a bad cover charge ($2) from Th to Sat, and I love karaoke nights (mondays), latino nights with Meesah Peru (wednesdays) and 80's nights, which bring so many memories (I grew up in the 80's ;-)). The bouncer is a cutie pie who gives good back massages and loves them in return ;-). The bartenders are sweethearts especially Adam, Chad, and Trevor...awesome boyz and bods!!! I've gotten to know so many great people and for me being a straight female this is perfect for me! I feel so much safer here and I love showing off my dance moves every now and then! Overall, my experiences have been pleasing to me, and if you want to celebrate a b-day, here's the place to be at any time!

  • Pros: Staff-friendly, service, people friendly
  • Cons: Dirty bathrooms and too crowded!

The worst of gay PDX.

by monkeyboykp

I visit Portland a lot and have given this place more than one chance, but no more. It is just a dive!

The dancers have horrible bodies and cannot even dance!

The staff are RUDE!

The drinks are good, but thats because the bar caters to Portland's elderly, gay alcoholics.

The main reason to steer clear of this place is that it is so dirty. You always feel the need to shower as soon as you leave.

  • Pros: Strong drinks.
  • Cons: Everything else.

The first g-bar you should visit in PDX!

by rpg1377

This is the first bar on Stark that I ever visited. It wasn't a disappointing experience. I have been going to it for the past 2 years. There is not a regular cover on weekdays usually. Silver usually has a cheap drink night or beer bust on the weekends. For a 21 and over bar, I have always felt safe in it. The seating area and dance floor tend to keep clean. The bartenders are pretty friendly for the busy crowds they may get, and I never have any issues with them.

The crowd here is pretty decent. Sometimes, you may get a group of sissy boys or drunken girls who come visit for the heck of it. You usually leave the bar with a crazy story. That is how you know you did it right. The dancers are a mixed bag. Some of them have come from 3 Sisters or have been there forever and have major ego problems. Others are just teases, but some of them are pretty cool. A downfall to this place is that they ALWAYS LOSE ITEMS IN THE COAT CHECK. My roommate may not be the most responsible person in the world, but he was given the wrong jacket twice! My roommate sometimes doesn't get his coat until the next day, and the coat checker gave his coat to a different number (checked out by numbers). The bouncers at the door are generally great, but the one taking the coats was rude. In addition, sometimes the bathrooms are scary. The "trough" is dirty and can overflow onto the floor as does the sink. I hear stories of people getting grabbed in there... It is funny that the women do have to use stalls in the men's room. Besides that, I recommend spending a few hours in Silver!

  • Pros: Fun dancers, good crowds, cheap drinks and cover, great atmosphere
  • Cons: Peak hours are tough to know, dancers/coat checkers are rude

Amazing!

by btrflyprncs

This bar has become my Cheers! I love this place! I can't stay away. Between the gorgeous, hot-bodied dancers, the amazing bartenders, and the awesome music, I just can't contain myself in this establishment. I have met tons of people, creating several new friendships. It's an overall happy place. Where else can you get strong cheap drinks, naked men, and a dance floor?! Everyone has to go see Billy aka Ryan. He is GORGEOUS!!!!!

  • Pros: Dancers, Cheap, loaded drinks, Music
  • Cons: Crowded on weekends
