I used to go here for the happy hour menu a lot with friends. It was a regular thing. The service in the lounge has always been less than perfect. Still, the vibe was good and divey. Didn't mind spending $40 bucks on drinks to get $15 worth of food. About two years ago, service got worse. And then worse. Went there three times one week, and each visit, the service was incompetent. One of those days, we witnessed the server completely screw up two table's orders, as well as our own. This same day, they couldn't even figure out how to use the coffee machine. (<---no joke). Then they changed the happy hour menu. Can we get this? No, that's no longer on the happy hour menu. Can we get this? I'm sorry, we are not making that today (<---she said, as she pulled the food list away from us and crossed it out). Around this time, they stopped letting folks sit "upstairs" in the dining area. That was almost a year ago. I went against better judgment recently and suggested that a friend and I meet there for a drink and some food. I cannot believe I ever recommended this place, and I am embarrassed that I made it such a regular place for years. It's so sad that it has become a complete s-hole. The service is not only rude, but incompetent and uninformed. (I do refer to the lounge, not the restaurant--just for the record). The food was never spectacular, but now it is just plain bad. It was bad the last time I swore it off, and it is worse now. What a waste of a potentially cool space with what was once good food. I hope for the sake of downtown Portland that the owners sell this place soon. It couldn't get any worse.
Pros: Used to be good food and service. At least we have the memories.
Cons: Inept, rude service. Inconsistant to subpar quality of food. Waste of time, money and hunger. Go someplace else.
