Biggest, dullest boutique hotel rooms in town. Creepy big and boring dull. If sheer square footage is your goal, this is your hotel - otherwise, keep shopping.

Rewards Program

by KA11 at Citysearch

I have been staying at the Paramount Hotel for business trips. They are only two blocks from Nordstroms and across the street from the Fox Tower. I travel a lot and the rewards program is great! I get my Alaska points for everything I purchase at the hotel! Plus, they have everything ready for me at check in! If you are traveling to Downtown Portland, this is the place to stay!

  • Pros: Example: best croissants in town
  • Cons: What are the drawbacks?

Perfect Relaxing Weekend!

by AnnaBat at Citysearch

My husband and I stayed at the Paramount last weekend for our anniversary and had a fabulous time. We booked the "Romance in the City of Roses" package and loved it. There were lots of cute little gifts placed around the room when we arrived: roses, chocolates, special bath salts and lotions, a gift certificate for breakfast, etc. A few minutes after we settled in, the front desk called to make sure that everything was okay and asked if there was anything else we needed. They were very prompt responding to our request to bring up a few robes. Our room had a great outdoor patio, which was a nice touch. The view wasn't great, because we were only on the 2nd floor, but that's my only complaint! We ate dinner in the lounge at Dragonfish downstairs, and it was outstanding. I loved the jetted tub and glass shower in our bathroom, too. I thought that the King-sized bed was fantastic, but my husband complained that it made his back sore. I did notice that our credit card was charged an additional $50, but when I called they were very polite and friendly in explaining it to me. They explained that they charge everyone an additional $50 at check-in, and it gets refunded a day or two after you leave (which it did.) Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we will definitely be back!

Fabulous Hotel

by ryan2000 at Citysearch

The Paramount Hotel is wonderful! I had the best stay while at their hotel. I was in town for a wedding and enjoyed that the hotel was in walking distance to everything...shopping, entertainment and restaurants. The happy hour in Dragonfish was quite tasty, I highly recommend. The bellman and front desk were very helpful in giving us direction and recommendations on where to eat during our stay. The accomodations were great, really liked the glass shower...unexpectant upgrade than most hotels. Next time we are in Portland we will stay again at the hotel!

Not a good experience

by alis78 at Citysearch

Ugh...we just stayed at this hotel. First and foremost, check in is at 4pm on weekends and checkout is at noon. The people checking in next to us at 4:30 were told that their room still wasn't ready and it would be 20 more minutes. While they promised a king size bed, they delivered two "queens.". When we asked about this they said these rooms are the same price and therefore equivalent. We booked throught the "big deal" website and our room was supposed to come with free breakfast or 7.50 per person off of breakfast. They only gave us one ticket and we had to ask for the second one. When we picked up our car from valet it reeked of smoke. No individual incident was that big of a deal but altogether, it made us mad that we spent a fair amount of money on a hotel that is seriously lacking in the customer service/attention to detail department. Go to the dragonfish for drinks and sushi, but stay somewhere else!!

  • Pros: location, dragonfish room service
  • Cons: customer service

Great Hotel

by jsmith_24 at Citysearch

I love this hotel! They have a great happy hour in the lounge with bargin priced sushi and lively atmosphere. My room had a glass shower and jetted tub which was a nice upgrade from most hotels. This hotel is in walking distance to everything...shopping, restaurants, movie theatre across the street. The bellman and front desk staff were all very helpful and friendly. I felt at home staying at this hotel and look forward to coming back soon!

  • Pros: Ambience, friendly staff, location.

Boutique style?!

by n750il at Citysearch

ok, so how does this hotel, part of a giant hotel group called Coast Hotels, which specializes in historic properties, qualify this as a botique hotel?

and if this is, what isn't?

It's definately not historic, it is not one-of-a-kind and it is made of stucco, think Disney Botique.

  • Pros: location
  • Cons: fake-ness

Clean place to stay, but there are much better places for the money you pay.

by daytrip at Citysearch

The rooms are nice enough and the hotel is kept clean. The staff seem to be lacking in the customer service department, unfriendly front desk, and a lazy door man. You will get a 6:30 am wake up call, like it or not from the construction going on directly across the street. Overpriced for what it is.

  • Pros: Hmmm...
  • Cons: Noise across the street, unfriendly staff

Dissapointing, and impolite staff!

by sybersprite at Citysearch

This hotel is in the heart of downtown Portland, right where we needed to stay. We were excited to stay in a "luxury" hotel, a special treat. Unfortunately, right from the start we noticed annoying little problems. The room was very nice, with a nice large bathroom and spa tub, and the mattress was good too. However, we were given a room directly across from some major construction in the city. It would have been polite for them to at least warn us about that - we shouldn't expect to sleep in past 6:45am because of the noise. Then, we find out that in order to get Internet in the room, you have to pay $10 for wireless for every 12 hours. So, if you want to use Internet from 11am until 3pm, you have to pay $20! They do have a business center downstairs, but there are only two computers and they are almost always in use (undoubtedly because of the ridiculous fee). The rooms have no ethernet port, so you either pay, or wait in line at the business center. How ridiculous! Every Motel 6 in the country has free ethernet in room, or even free wireless! We decided to just use dialup from our room, since you can get free dialup. However, then we find out that LOCAL phone calls cost 75 cents each. We haven't had to pay for a LOCAL call from a hotel room since 1983! Then, at one point during our stay, we got "stranded" at a restaurant because my credit card was declined. I was so confused, as I knew I had more than enough for our entire trip. As it turned out, the hotel not only put a hold on the funds for our room, they put an additional $75 PER NIGHT hold (in case we trash the room??), which they DID NOT tell us about when checking in. I asked my friend who also had a room there, and they didn't tell her about this either! It was such a mess. After a big discussion and quite some upset, they made it right, but it was just the last straw. There's other hotels for the same price downtown. Not worth the hassle. Stay somewhere else!

  • Pros: Nice spa tub, nice bed
  • Cons: Unfriendly staff, missing door-person, lack of basic amenities

Really nice hotel, friendly staff, great location, free internet

by annewicke at Citysearch

My boyfriend and I stayed here for the weekend and had a really great time. The staff was very friendly and professional, the dragonfish happy hour was fun, hotel was really clean. We liked using their free computers downstairs to check our favorite citysearch to see what there was to do around town. We have nothing bad to say about this hotel and will definitley stay there again when we return to Portland!

  • Pros: Great location, Service, big rooms
  • Cons: Happy Hour has to end sometime!

A European-style, 15-story boutique hotel with both traditional elegance and cutting-edge amenities.

by Contributor at Citysearch

In Short
Across from the Fox Tower, this is a beautiful hotel tailored for the business traveler. The stunning lobby features 30-foot ceilings and Italian-marble accents. Rich tapestries and elegant furnishings adorn rooms and suites, but modern amenities like two-line telephones, data ports, coffeemakers and 25-inch TVs make you feel at home. There's also complimentary use of the business center, fitness room and valet service. The suites sport whirlpool tubs, fireplaces and terraces.
