The BEST!!!

by mitchk58

A co-worker told me about the couples spa day, so I took my wife for our anniversary and WOW. Fantastic massage and the water treatment was out of this world! The food was great, the staff was great, the whole day was great. We will be back!‎

RUDE customer service

by allisonr

Took my husband for a couples massage and the massages themselves were just OKAY. The atmosphere was not romantic, the tables were tiny, and the therapists made us uncomfortable. The worst part of it all- the RUDE receptionist. We will never go back simply because of her attitude.

  • Cons: being treated like garbage

Great massage & facial!

by 44Robin

I was referred to Spa Sasse by my hotel concierge and could not thank him enough! I arrived in Portland for business and after a long flight was in need of some pampering. My massage and facial were heavenly, especially because my therapists were so attentive to my every need. I came in achy and drained and left feeling renewed and pampered. Highly recommended!

Best massage I've ever had

by lap

I have been at this spa 5 times for various treatments. Massages, pedicures and facials.

All were great but I especially enjoy the massage.

The lmt's are very professional and wont talk to me

unless I initiate conversation.

The product's they use for massage smell heavenly and

are all natural. The massage frappe' is made of all natural products and leaves the skin very hydrated!

This is a must try.

I have read some of the reviews and realize how many people are just unhappy.

I will continue to get massages etc. here whenever I

am in Portland.

  • Pros: wonderful natural products
  • Cons: parking

horrible spa experience

by floregongirl

I was excited for my day at the spa after participating in the Shamrock Run 2009. I read the reviews and said they can't be that bad, and to my dismay, they are that bad.

I arrived 20 minutes early and the spa hadn't opened yet for my 11am appointment. So I should have know that I wasn't going to walk into a warm, relaxing, calming spa environment.

The receptionist arrived 10 minutes before my appt and none of the staff was there to even begin setting up for my so called spa experience. I walked in right behind her as she was turning on the lights and computer. It was freezing cold, no heat, no candles, no relaxing sounds.

My greatest fears had come true, the reviews were right. It was 11:10am and still no employees. I told the receptionist that I would stay for 1 or 2 services but there was no one to work on me.

I then said that I wanted to cancel my appointment and she said she understood and that my card wouldn't be charged.

Well two weeks after my canceled appointment they charged my card $185.00 for services never rendered after I was told that I wouldn't be charged for canceling especially since none of the staff was present for my 11am appointment. At 11:15 am they still weren't there.

I finally talked with the owner Sarah who seemed to be an immature 18yr old confirmed with her yelling at me instead of acting like a business owner. She yelled that many people write bad review about companies everyday. I said of course they do and I ignored the ones I read about Spa Sasse and still showed up to my appt and discovered they were all true.

Please don't go to this spa you will be disappointed in so many ways.

I would suggest Dragontree, they are totally awesome.

  • Cons: owner and staff are unprofessional and lacks spa atmosphere

Overpriced under-satisfying

by funluvin8122

My hubby and I wanted a romantic way to enjoy our anniversary, so we signed up for the Couples Spa Day. First we had to wait, then we were offered stinky robes and used sandles...gross. We were supposed to have a hydromassage bath together, but the tub only fit one of us it was so small.

We had a massage that was supposed to have rose petals...which we paid extra for...and didn't get. (I could have paid for a regular couples massage if that's what I wanted.) Then off to a vichy shower treatment which apparently my therapist couldn't handle...he was breathing really hard the whole time...creepy.

Then we were rushed into their extremely cramped dining room where we had a less-than desirable lunch and when I said I'd like champaign, they said they had white wine...champaign was in the list of what was offered online. The entire time we listened to the laundry room across the small hall, and people talking and laughing very loudly in the reception area.

So much for romantic anniversary!!! They could not pay me to come back.

  • Cons: After $400 spent no parking validation either.

Be Prepared to Wait - Even when you have an appointment

by wlcourt

I have been to this spa 2 times. The first time was for a massage. Unfortunately they were running late. I stayed for my massage and it was okay. The second time, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and scheduled a manicure appointment. Once again, they were late. I was on my lunch hour. After waiting 20 minutes past my scheduled appointment, I needed to leave. This was a very big disappointment. Be careful if you have limited time. It was really nice that they offered tea, but it was luke warm. I hate writing a bad review, but this was my experience.

Unprofessional, rude, unskilled

by HealthyLifePDX

I went in with my sister to get brow waxes because it was close to both of our offices. The ambience in the waiting room was OK (a little cheesy) but from the get-go the staff was rude, they did a terrible job with our waxes, they were unprepared, and to top it all off, it was incredibly expensive! This was not a relaxing spa experience.

  • Pros: Downtown location
  • Cons: service, very expensive

Quite disappointing

by reerae

My daughter and I were very much looking forward to our facials. But Spa Sasse was disappointing from the moment we walked through the door. We were made to feel like we were interrupting the young man behind the counter. Then as we were led in to the back to fill out the paperwork, we were told we had to find our own pens because they were out. The waiting room consisted of two chairs in a very tight space. It was very definitely not clean or tidy or pleasant . There was none of the ambiance you expect in a day spa. The young woman who gave me the facial did not communicate to me whatsoever. At one point I asked if what she was using was chocolate, and she said,"It sure is!" and that was our total conversation. She left me alone, in the middle of the facial, for a very long period of time without explaining before or after where she was going. I've had facials before, and this lacked many elements of a typical facial experience even though this was one of their more expensive choices from the spa menu. Possibly I should have asked for someone with more experience. Rather than leaving there feeling relaxed and blissful, as has been my previous experiences elsewhere, I left feeling very taken advantage of.

  • Pros: Open on Monday.

a pretty big let down

by IdahoGrrrl

I was given a gift certificate for a facial to this place and was really looking forward to it. The website had me looking forward to being pampered ala celebrity style (many celebrities were name-dropped on their website. Needless to say, i was disappointed. I arrived about 30 minutes early, was brought back to a cold, dark waiting room with cheap slipcovers falling off of the matching sofas, an amateur sponge-painting job on the walls and a cup of luke-warm inexpensive tea (in a paper cup... in my beloved green Portland!) By arriving early, I had hoped to relax in a robe and slippers but one was never offered to me and there was never anyone around for me to ask. About five minutes _after_ my appointment was supposed to start, I went to the front desk and asked if they knew the status of my appointment, she responded "oh, she should be done soon." Finally someone came and got me and took me into the treatment room. It was very cluttered looking and the choice of teal sponge-painted walls with matching cheap wall sconces didn't give me the feeling of "luxury." The facialist was good - she did a great job actually. But I must say that the ambiance leaves much to be desired and I'm certain that the celebrites mentioned on their website never returned.

  • Pros: Great facialist
  • Cons: Ambiance leaves MUCH to be desired
