I thought adult theaters had gone the way of the 8-track tape. I expected something dusty and nostalgic, or on its last legs, stubbornly fighting obsolescence. But the Jefferson Theater is very much alive and kicking. The smallish front lobby sells DVDs and adult toys. The real deal is behind the curtain. You buy a ticket for $8 and sign an agreement that makes you a "guest member" of their private club. The architectural details inside indicate the theater has had a long and varied history. The huge screen lights up the room with new release type movies (not the Marylin Chambers I expected). I have been surprised repeatedly by women actually coming to the Jefferson, usually with their significant other. Suffice it to say, folks get real friendly with each other. The Jefferson changed my concept of adult theaters altogether..
Pros: open 24 / 7, surprisingly clean, friendly staff
Cons: on street parking, limited concessions, sometimes crowded
