Excellent classic American food.. Everyone has a weakness. Mine is club sandwiches. I always try to find the best club sandwich in town. It's like a quest. I can't stop until I find the best. I've been looking for Portland's best club sandwich since 2003, and this is it. I usually order it with fries and a cup of gravy. Not the healthiest meal, I know. But it's a passion. Country Bills has never served me lumpy gravy or limp lettuce. The bacon is always crisp and the tomatoes are always fresh. The fries are light and crisp.

Don't eat at Country Bill's on Woodstock. We went to Country Bill's on Saturday for a nice Prime Rib dinner. That's not what we got. We ordered, our salad was OK. Our meals arrived, 16 oz CEO cuts of prime rib for $27.50 each, and a baked potato. We were then offered margarine for our potato (which is only one component away from plastic). However we were assured that the sour cream was real. The prime rib was the worst I've ever had in my entire life. It was absoutly flavorless!!!! No seasoning on the outside, plenty of tasteless fat on the edges and inside, the meat was pure flavorless. Good thing for us we like horseradish and au jus juice. The meal was so blah that we took it home for the dogs. We love our dogs but din't want to spend $55.00 on a meal for them. Do yourslef a favor, don't eat at Country Bill's!!! I will never go there again and will most definetly tell frinds, neighbors, and co-worker not to go there.  View Less View More

Great for steaks. For years, people have been telling me about Country Bill's -- the best place for steak. We finally went; everything good I heard was true. Great wholesome meals, served up promptly, at a moderate price.

The atmosphere: a bit overlit and not very fancy. But, you can't eat the wallpaper!

Recommended for lunch or dinner.  View Less

Great Food!. This is some of the best food we've had. The steaks and chicken and dumplings are outstanding (better than Tad's) and the attitude of the people that work there is warm and friendly. Good food at a reasonable price. Give this one a try.  View Less View More

Cozy family restaurant. I don't know if my opinion counts because I used to work here, but I love the food. I've been to a lot of fine dining restaurants and the steak her is very similar just at a better price. The service is great and staff is very friendly.  View Less View More

Bacon Wrapped Filet-Melts in your mouth!!!. We have visited this restaurant 5 or 6 times a year for the last 10 years. I have never ordered anything else except the bacon wrapped filet Mignon- It is Mouthwatering and perfect every single time!!! The other food I can't vouch for, and some of my friends say their meals were okay but once they try the filet they won't go back to anything else. Steak in its purest and simplest form!! Tender to a T! And to help your budget they take the etertainment card over and over again! What a deal $$$!!!!  View Less View More

family restaurant with reliable fare. I have been going to Country Bill's for some 20 years, at least once in a while. It is a family atmosphere with reliably decent food. Sometimes gets busy with loyal senior citizen regulars, but have usually been seated quite promptly. Service decent, and recently had outstanding service (prompt, attentive, personalized from energetic young waiter!). Prices are the usual in Portland (which is not cheap), but my steaks have always been good quality and cooked just the way I asked. The razor clams are to die for!! And you can order just one or two as a side if you have just a wee craving:-)

My most recent meal had the usual crisp green salad, tender and perfectly cooked (for me, MW) ribeye steak, fresh and hot garlic bread, a succulent side of razor clam, and my ice water constantly topped up!  View Less

User review by davejann. Simply the best hamburger I have ever tasted and friendly, family type service.
