Wonderful experience!

by Tatertort at Citysearch

Great place! Food is fabulous, service is outstanding, and the atmosphere perfect. Only minor complaint is that the small plates were just a bit larger than we had anticipated, but that's a very minor complaint indeed. Wait staff was superb - knew the wine list and recommendations were spot on. Wine flights would be great and chefs recommended special would complete what is already a near perfect menu. Would we repeat? No question that we will!

Amazing food and impeccable service

by Owen06 at Citysearch

Our group of 4 had a great assortment of food- we tried the roasted romaine heart salad, beet salad, mescaline greens and the goat cheese ravioli. All dishes included fresh and local ingredients. They were all top rate- the ravioli's would be our top recommendation. We tried the risotto, ribs, rib-eye and the boar ravioli. Again- all excellent. The service was appropriately paced, the noise level perfect for a conversation. We are conisseurs of fine food and are from the San Francisco area. This food and service was by far the most excellent we've had in Portland and up in the top 3 of our favorite restaurants (including SF). $4 valet parking made it convenient and simple.

  • Pros: Wine list, valet parking, great food
  • Cons: chairs a bit uncomfortable (but the pro was that we were able to sit for so long and enjoy!)

Great Service, Great Atmosphere, and Great Food

by kitrimae at Citysearch

My fiance and I recently visited Lucy's Table to enjoy my birthday dinner. Having been there before and always enjoyed great service and even better food, we were excited to visit again - and we were not disappointed. Their wine list was varied but provided an excellent selection of mid-range, local wines. Our server was friendly, knowledgable and attentive (without being TOO attentive). We enjoyed several courses and the pace of the meal was perfect. We shared the goat cheese ravioli and house marinated olives as our appetizers (be sure not to leave Lucy's without trying those raviolis!). My date very much enjoyed his pomegranate glazed baby back ribs and I was delightfully surprised by the new and unique flavors in the chicken breast dish that I, well, devoured. Dessert was white chocolate bread pudding - with and candle, of course! The whole experience added up to a great evening. Visitors to NW 21st should not miss Lucy's Table!

Missing Foie; Better Alternatives

by anujezekiel at Citysearch

The setting at Lucy's Table is one built to make a good evening great. The lighting is intimate and tables are comfortably separated. Good for a date (who?s not looking for the most exciting food). The service is prompt and friendly; even the bread is delicious. I would recommend Lucy?s Table to those Pearl District-ers who find themselves in the neighborhood and don?t mind dropping some dough on dinner. I was most satisfied with the small plates and would recommend that menu over the large plates?that selection seemed to be missing the rustic comfort which captions the name ?Lucy?s Table.? Further, my pheasant (which generally speaking, I cannot complain about) was missing the promised bit of Foie Gras that was supposed to accompany the petit scoop of jasmine rice. This conclusion?that the small plates are a better selection than the large plates?leaves me with a few lagging questions in mind: Why not go to lolo?a joint who?s specialty is tapas plates? And if we?re still in the mood for large plates with a twist, why not make my way to Le Pigeon? Where Gabriel Rucker?s masterful knife will undoubtedly serve up a unique and memorable meal. Simply put, the alternatives to Lucy?s Table should strongly be considered before committing.

  • Pros: Ambiance, service
  • Cons: food

Great food, atmosphere and service

by TimHodgson at Citysearch

My wife and I have been looking for an intimate restaurant with exceptional food and great service. We found just that. We ate early on Saturday evening and enjoyed it all. The restaurant was 3/4 full when we left at 7:30. This is the first(best) time we have had a quiet conversation eating out. The staff was attentive and not intrusive. We will keep you informed if we find a better place...don't hold your breath.

Great simple food, from local growers

by mattyinthesun at Citysearch

A short weekend away in Portland led us to make reservations at Lucy's. I am a big time foodie, and wanted a couple of places that really said what Portland was about foodwise. We got exactly what we expected - a great little bistro that was pumping with activity, fabulous food, and great service.

The lamb dish I had was cooked perfectly, and was simply just lamb, jus, and roasted potatoes. My wife had a hawaiian seabass with Israli couscous, which was equally as good. Some of the best lamb I have ever had.

Rave About a Fave!

by teacher73 at Citysearch

We are regular customers at Lucy's because it is consistently excellent in all categories. We are always made to feel welcome (never punished because we may have walked in without a reservation) by the amazing staff (proprietor, hosts, servers, bus persons, bartenders, etc.). We know the dining scene in both Toronto and San Francisco quite well and Lucy's Table reigns up there with the very best. The food is delicious, prepared with care, and presented beautifully. We know that some folks will consider it a bit spendy, but it is certainly of great value. We especially like the Lucy's Sampler and have it every time!

  • Pros: Everything!
  • Cons: Nothing!

Great little NW Portland bistro

by hctech at Citysearch

I just made my second visit to Lucy's and both times the food and service were superb. I visit Portland often and this is now on my "must stop" list of restaurants. It may not be a Paley's Place, but it is right up there. I had the halibut which was as good as any I've had in Alaska, and that's a real compliment. My experience has only been during the week but it hasn't been crowded, even on a warm summer night. The wine list is good, but the selections by the glass are somewhat limited. I travel extensively and try to find the best restaurants in the area and I highly recommend this Portland spot.

Charming night spot

by portlandmoneymaker at Citysearch

This place is very nice. Dates will feel special and the food is awesome. Try the Lavender Creme Brulee for desert and you'll crave it about once a month. Make reservations, though, because it's a popular place.

  • Pros: FOOD, DRINKS, SERVICE, AMBIENCE
  • Cons: parking, but that's 21st for ya.

Great place to take in-laws

by abronnert at Citysearch

This is a great restaurant to take your visiting in-laws. My in-laws, visiting from Manhattan, were very happy with the food and pleasant service. I also thought the food was great. Everything from the bread, gazpacho, halibut, and coffee was terrific quality. The waitress was very attentive as well.

  • Pros: Very tasty, savory dishes
