OK

by djwif at Citysearch

It didn't live up to our expectations from what we heard about Lucy's. I am not saying to stay away or it's a bad place or anything like that. It just was an OK place to go. Nothing to rave about. The meat was overcooked, even after asking for rare. The ribs were dry and tasted like they were warmed up from the night before and the special, which was the most expensive thing, wasn't all that special. Service was just OK as well. Our waitress had been eating food in the back, her own admition, and still had some sauce on her face. Asked for a refill on my iced tea when the main course came and didn't get it until the bus boy noticed it was empty when he was clearing our plates. Again we weren't impressed based on the hype we have heard. There are a lot worse places to eat though and I know our experience was a rare one, at least we hope so.

  • Cons: chairs are really cheap

Sophisticated wine selection and elegant dining experience

by jont15 at Citysearch

Having experienced dining in some of the upper end restaurants in the Napa Valley wine country, I was impressed with both the wine selection and the knowledge of wines by our server. The dining was equally matched in style and quality

The restaurant is located in a trendy part of town and gave a sophisticated charm and elegance to our dining experience. The music and atmosphere was good for either a special occasion, romantic night out, or just a nice meal for two.

The service was impeccable, and the food quality was that of what I have seen in some of the upper restaurants in the bay area. I also liked the valet parking which made things convenient.

If you go, make reservations as the first time we went it was filled to capacity and most often a reservation is required.

Overall we really enjoyed our dining experience.

  • Pros: wine selection, elegant dining experience, vallet, sophisticated charm, romantic atmopshere

Cozy corner atmosphere... new twists on the staples

by erin314 at Citysearch

We went to Lucy's for my birthday on a Wednesday night and had a lovely meal and courteous service. Our waitress was really kind and knowledgeable about the menu and the wines that could accompany the food. Ambience is really cute and cozy - I recommend reservations so you can get a table you'd prefer. It was still daylight when we dined so we were grateful for a window seat right at the corner or 21st.

We liked the Lucy's Plate which was a sampler of the chef's choice of a few starters - at $12 it is a good value to try some interesting special apps before dinner. They had a great wine selection of international and locals. Two of us had the rib eye, which was delicious... served familiarly but with some unexpected pears and savory cabbage across potatoes. I would have preferred more veggies, but the taters were really smooth and tasty. My father in law enjoyed his meal as well - I think it was a shrimp and scallop citrus dish. I did not try it, but it looked and smelled really nice!

I think some others have written about the dishes being on the small side with not enough food - You'd have to be used to buffets to think about that... Yes, the apps might have been smaller but it was the preparation and the presentation you're paying for. The entrees, however, were large. My mother in law could not finish hers! Lots of food.

For what we ordered, I think the prices are relatively normal at Lucy's compared to other restaurants serving similar dishes in the area. Check it out.. the menu changes so each visit will likely be a nice surprise!

  • Pros: Cute little unassuming spot in the heart of NW
  • Cons: Parking might be tough if you're not into the valet

Train Wreck

by pandora2817 at Citysearch

I have frequent guest to Lucy's Table through-out the years and have ALWAYS been pleased.....however upon our last visit only one regular server could been seen and unfortunatly she was in another section. If you know of Lucy's past, ask for experience....our server was unknowledgable about wine or service style and never smiled, not once. I am used to informed, educational, and engaged servers at Lucy's who have always enchanced our experience and unfortunately it seems not to be the case anymore. The food was good, but Lucy's has always had service....until now. The space seems confused, but I will still return for the goat cheese ravioli's or happy hour, but if for dinner I will return on the gamble that I get a server who knows the job.

  • Pros: Portland Classic
  • Cons: inconsistent service

Quiet romantic atmosphere

by foreigner06 at Citysearch

Went there recently. Menu was interesting. We had ribs for appetizer, the postion was good, enough to share, and very flavorful. Lam chop was a little on the smaller side, but extremely good. Steak was exellent! Service was good overall. I would recommend this place.

Flawless

by robharrison at Citysearch

Had our company Chrstmas dinner at Lucy's table and couldn't be more pleased. Had a round of appetizers for sharing and all chioces were excellent One standout was the Goat Cheese Ravioli. Each main coarse earned the hightest praise and we ended up sharing those around as well. Usually you'd see a doggie bag leaving the table but in this case the food was so delicious, every plate was cleaned dry.

  • Pros: Spot on Perfect!

Wonderful Ambiance

by lexie013 at Citysearch

If you're looking for a sensual and cozy place for a first or second date, Lucy's Table would be a good choice. With its plush interior and great NW wine list, Lucy's Table offers good food in a superb atmosphere.

The wait staff is very helpful and accommodating. While there recently, one of the members of my party mentioned to his seatmate that the pork he was eating was good, but seemed just a little dry. The server overheard, and did not charge for the pork even though my friend had not meant for the server to hear his comment. This is a sign of a restaurant that truly cares what it customers think.

Rumor has it that the happy hour here is VERY good.

  • Pros: Valet Parking, Atmosphere
  • Cons: Can spend a lot of money if not careful

A Portland gem!

by vanessa2415 at Citysearch

One of my favorite places in town, consistently great food and service keep me coming back. The happy hour provides great values on some of the most popular dishes on the menu (goat cheese ravioli, beet salad) and you can also get great value on wine and drinks. If you are looking for more romance, the dining room is wonderful and the food is worth every penny.

Nice atmosphere, good food

by deadw at Citysearch

The atmosphere here is nice without being stuffy or too loud. The food was good. My major complaint was that the mixed drinks were on the weak side. The best food was the goat cheese ravioli.

  • Pros: Atmosphere, friendly service, goat cheese ravioli
  • Cons: Weak mixed drinks
