My first impression of Breu Experience was of greatness. The store has wonderful antiques and collectibles. Then I looked at the prices. Way too high for familiar merchandise. The rugs there are also overpriced and are of poor quality.

If you haven't been to the Bernadette Breu shop yet hurry up as she is, apparently, retiring. What a sad moment for Portland if she does quit as Ms. Breu has one of the most eclectic, interesting, esoteric and eccentric shops I have ever seen. Daily in comes -- and out goes-- a wild array of things: Giant papier mache giraffe? Check. Exquisite 18th Mesopotamian carpet? Check. Real Bidermeier chest? Check. Bizarre and beautiful shell encrusted mirror seemingly scraped from the bottom of the seas? Check. Clock parts for a buck? Old Photos of families, farms or boats? Carnival games of a bygone era? It's all here, all gorgeous and all for sale. Amazing.

Pros: Everything

Cons: None to note
