Parking Lot and sidewalk by steve s. at InsiderPages

Contributor at Insider Pages

We visited on Xmas day thru the weekend. We and other guests asked the staff several times to remove the snow and ice from the parking and sidewalk area, but got excuses and nothing was done. They're very lucky no one was injured, as a lawsuit was waiting to happen. Not very smart!! I doubt that we will come back here again!

I travel from LA every few weeks and stay at The Northrup Station every time because it has great service, wonderful rooms, and is just fun!!! I would never stay anywhere else in Portland EVER! They are the best!

A super-trendy place in a the stylish Third Avenue neighborhood.

by Contributor at Citysearch

The Scene
Visitors be hard-pressed to find a more design-conscious sleeping establishment in Portland. Local architect Steve Routon has created a sleek, stylized monument to the modern vibe of the neighborhood. While this establishment has an exclusive feel, it is actually quite casual and accessible, like a San Francisco boutique hotel.

The Details
The impressive facade is made of brick and industrial materials. Inside, the rooms are filled with energetic colors and touches of granite and marble. All the units are suites, decorated with a contemporary flair. Full kitchens and fireplaces make this hip hangout homey. The sleek breakfast bar is a civilized spot to start the day, and the rooftop garden is a pleasant place to pass a warm evening.

Great As Always

by kdixon4444 at Citysearch

I will continue to stay at this hotel. It is different than most. Great rooms and a great staff. They fill up fast though, so sometimes it can get tricky getting a reservation. Call ahead.

  • Pros: Location, Location, Location!

Fun place

by stinel at Citysearch

My sister and her husband were in town for a wedding and stayed at the Inn - with the rest of the wedding party. I went there and hung out with them a few times and was quite impressed with the location, the staff, and the rooms. I know that they all had a wonderful stay. I glad to have a place to recommend to family and friends when they come to town.

  • Pros: location, rooms, staff
  • Cons: amenities

Not worth your time!

by kernsjoe at Citysearch

We made reservations to stay at this place, but needed to cancel. Their policy states that cancellations must be made at least 48 hours in advance for a full refund. We canceled a WEEK in advance. They still charged us $130, which happens to be considerably more than the price of the room we reserved. We called them and have received nothing but rude service AND they refuse to refund the money. I suggest finding a more accomodating place to stay.

  • Cons: Rude service, Not accomodating

Beware

by stantoa at Citysearch

Overall, the hotel was nice. We were excited to stay there. The rooms were nice and people friendly. However, after our trip to Powell's, we left our truck (nothing in sight) and ran to the room to get our coats. In the 10 minutes it took us to go to the room and back to the truck, our passenger window was smashed and the contents of the truck rustled. According to the police officer who took our report, this is a common occurance at the hotel.

Great location, but becoming shabby

by tp2000 at Citysearch

I stayed at Northrup Station for four nights, and I loved the location and nearby streetcar station. The breakfast bar in the lobby was a nice extra. The staff overall was very pleasant, although the front desk clerks weren't very polished and seemed too casual.

One thing I noticed was that the room furniture and amenities are becoming shabby. The armchair upholstery had several holes in it, and the sofa was looking tired and worn. The ironing board cover was falling apart, and the dresser drawer pulls kept falling off. Although I was there for four nights and tipped the maid each day, I never received additional bath amenities during my stay, even after the bottles were empty.

The rooms are nice and large though, and the location can't be beat for the price. But the hotel's rooms need some TLC and reinvestment.

  • Pros: Location, Streetcar station, Breakfast bar
  • Cons: , Stingy maid service, Shabby upholstery

Wonderful

by bettyboop21 at Citysearch

I travel a significant amount of time, as a corporate business member. I was booked at a chain hotel and attempted to checkin to be told they did not have my reservation, I looked around and found this terrific boutique hotel in a fun part of downtown Portland. The room was huge and the bed was more comfortable than I could have dreamed. The staff was very inviting and when I asked to leave my compliments with the manager, she came out to the lobby and greeted with me, that was a first. I have booked my next reservation and requested my travel agent to continue to only book me here for future travels. Great, Great hotel and a lucky find!

  • Pros: bed, staff, colors

If I didn't live in Portland...

by acidtest_69 at Citysearch

This is where I would stay when I visit!

When the heavy snow and ice hit, my employer put me up in a room here. When I checked in the hostess had called local dining establishemnts to make sure I would have somewhere to eat!

Highly recommended.

P.s. The decor is to lively for you to leave with a frown!
