My husband and I love steakhouses and we love to travel. The one thing we always do when we travel (several times a year) is find a new steakhouse we have never been to. We made reservations at the Ringside because they feature a Kobe Steak. Unforntuately we left before we ever got seated because the staff / manager was very rude. We walked into the bar and grabbed two seats at the bar - other customers who were outside the bar in a waiting area for a table came in and tried to take our seats we were seated in - the manger was called over and stated that we "took" their seats. I am convinced that we were asked to get up because there was a pre-existing relationship between the manager and customer and because we were younger - I felt like I was discriminated against because of my age. I was truly offended. We left immediately went to another steakhouse in the area where we were treated very well and had delightful evening.
- Pros: There are NONE
- Cons: Out of the way - Rude Staff -
Great food!!

My husband and I prefer this location. We normally eat at the bar. The dinning area is for older people. We ate there as a family but our parents thought it made them felt old. Older people tend to cut in the bar too. Even though they see you waiting for the next available table, they still walk pass you for a table. We liked the previous waitress better. She was there for awhile. She always remembered us and even saved us the best table in the bar. We brought our friends there several times. They loved the food, but felt the atmosphere was too old for them. We feel the same way, but the service is a notch better than the other location.
Not our favorite anymore

I called for a reservation and was greeted with "you guys", short, rude by girl answering the phone during a week day morning. Not a good start for such a "fine dining restaurant". Our dinner for my son, daughter and myself was okay, server forgot my glass of wine (told him to forget it after I had finished with my dinner) and seemed to be in a big hurry to get us out by piling dishes of food right after another, we felt rushed. Used to be our favorite place, but we're going someplace else!
- Cons: don't call customers guys when calling for reservations, servers remembers drink orders, don't rush the customer who is paying the bill and your tip

Excellent, excellent, excellent food. Did I say the food was good? The waitress brought us a flashlight to read the menu. Very reminiscent of the good old boy's club but you leave full and content. This is good eats folks.
- Pros: There aren't many places like this still around, enjoy it while you can.
- Cons: Not a "con" to be found
Living on its reputation

I recently treated family and friends to a special occasion dinner at The Ringside. I come from a family that owned a restaurant meat supply company so i know good beef. The steaks at Ringside were too much fat and grisl and not enough meat. We ordered the bone in New Yorks and the flavor of what edible meat was available was just so-so and definitely not worth trying to carve around the grisl. Salads were good and onion rings OK but not that great. The service was acceptable but very slow. All in all a big disappointment and not worth the price.
Portland's Best Steak

Simply one of the best steakhouses on the west coast, period. The food is a bit pricey, but the quality of service, food, and experience make this place the one to beat in terms of steakhouses in the area.
- Pros: Steak, Service, Datespot, Parking
- Cons: Expensive, Reservations
Excellent steak, service and wine

My husband and I love to go to Ringside for a great steak and wonderful evening! The crab cocktail is wonderful as is their onion rings, (large order! for 2). We always call for reservations ahead of time as you will be disappointed if you don't on busy Friday and Saturdays. They have onsite valet, very convenient to PGE field for those Friday night games. The New York comes sizzeling on a plate with potatoes. The French onion soup should not be missed or their lettuce wedge for a salad. The wait staff are all excellent and always know the best of the wine list. For those of you who like specials, they have a special before 5:45 menu that has excellent prices. Ringside's banana's foster is also quite yummy. We also love the funky chimney and fireplace in the main dining area. The only downside is the space is quite cramped and if you are out in the middle the traffic is a bit much. Otherwise, relax, enjoy, slow down and have a wonderful evening!
- Pros: Steak, Wine list, Location, ambience, service
- Cons: A little crowded, need reservations at least 24 hours out
Good Food, Not-So-Great-Service

We went here on a busy Sunday night, and while the food was good, the service was not! Our waiter had zero personality and was extremely slow. Slow taking our dirnk order, slow bringing the drinks, slow taking our dinner order, slow bringing the food...you get the idea. I know there is such a thing as a "leisurely" dining pace, but this was beyond that. Food was good, though, and the atmosphere is nice. Friendly hostess, valet staff, etc., just not our waiter. Too bad...if he had been a bit nicer, we probably would have raved about the place.
The most delicious meal

I took my boyfriend to dinner at the Ringside on Burnside for his birthday and dropped a C-note between the two of us, and I'm glad I did. It was the best meal I've ever eaten. The steaks were incredibly good, the onion rings were super. We had the asparagus side. I still dream of that meal.
big price and big letdown

I recently made reservations here for a special dinner. My boyfriend just graduated from college and I wanted to take him someplace where I thought he would get special attention during the dinner service, as this restaurant advertises special occasion dining as a specialty. In fact when I made the reservation I was asked if I was celebrating anything special, and I told them of my boyfriends graduation. There were four of us in total, with reservations at 7 PM. We were there 15 min early, attempted to get a drink in the bar while waiting for our table. Getting the drink took 15 min, the bartender ignored me. We were seated 10 min. late, and the hostesses were snotty little things. Our waiter dragged his booty taking our drink order, starter order and took FOREVER to take our main course down. We were there at least 1 hour before we even ordered our main dish. During this entire time there was not one mention of my boyfriend's graduation by our reluctant server. Why was I even asked when I made the reservation if they were not going to acknowledge it? I was really disappointed and I don't know what the big deal is about this place. The only positive was the steak, which although good, was not the best I have ever had. I guess when a place becomes established they can afford to treat some of their new customers like poo-poo.
- Pros: steak
- Cons: everything but the steak, but it really isn't worth it
