Great steak, excellent service!
by jrod119 at Citysearch
What can I say? This has been named one of America's top 10 steakhouses and it certainly did not disappoint. While the flavor of my 14 oz. New York was immense, it was not as rare as I had ordered (I ordered med rare and got a steak closer to done). They also seared the outside almost too much, as it was quite crunchy - almost too much so.
Overall, I can't wait to go back. The rest of the menu looked extremely appealing, and I cannot wait to try the Prime Rib Eye.
Lastly, the service was top notch! Our waiter called us by name and made sure the entire dinner was perfect!
- Pros: service, employees, atmosphere
Good solid steakhouse

I went here with my husband and father, both enjoy a good steak. They were pleased with the quality of the meat and the taste. I was informed if it needs to have sauce, it is not good. I say this because I am a vegetarian and usually am a litte short changed at a steakhouse ( broccoli and a baked potato -rah) Not here ! I asked for a vegetable plate and they made me a platter with several yummy vegetables. Love that customer service ! I do not think you will be disappointed.
- Pros: Great customer service
Great food!!

My husband and I prefer this location. We normally eat at the bar. The dinning area is for older people. We ate there as a family but our parents thought it made them felt old. Older people tend to cut in the bar too. Even though they see you waiting for the next available table, they still walk pass you for a table. We liked the previous waitress better. She was there for awhile. She always remembered us and even saved us the best table in the bar. We brought our friends there several times. They loved the food, but felt the atmosphere was too old for them. We feel the same way, but the service is a notch better than the other location.
Ringside caters to a very specific crowd
by theveggie at Citysearch
This place has an overt 'old boys club' feel, so you'd better brush up on your wine and steak trivia if you want to get in good with your waiter. The restaurant is cozy and intimate (in fact, my knees got very intimate with the extremely low tables) and is a great place to spend a lot of money on dinner.
That said, the food, notably the onion rings, was delicious.
- Cons: valet parking seems to skip out early
Best Onion Rings I've Ever Had
by jinanddavid at Citysearch
If you order nothing else, order the onion rings. Perfectly battered, perfectly fried, not greasy at all, you could make a meal of onion rings, salad, and desert. Steaks are good. Really enjoyed their burger at happy hour. As steak houses go, prices are reasonable to expensive. But the onion rings are worth every penny of the entire meal!
Did I mention the onion rings?
- Pros: Onion Rings
- Cons: Lighting
Except for the waiter...
by donunder at Citysearch
The prime rib was everything I could ask for although I still don't know whether it was
Dry-aged or for how long or what. My waiter either did not know or did not care to answer when I asked him. Instead he looked up at the ceiling in some effort to avoid
the question then excused himself and returned with no answer just the question - "Are
you ready to order?" The wine list was big but with no organization and the reserve list
was full of baffling pricing (either far too high or incomplete discriptions). All in all, Good steak, typical Northwest waiter, clubby atmosphere, could have been better.
- Pros: Good steak, big wine list, traditional decor
- Cons: Terrible service, typical wine list, no information
Great service, good steak

The wife and I went here with friends and I can say had some of the best service I'd had at a restaurant in a long time.
My prime rib was fine and my wife has a steak she drenched in a sauce (great beef stands on its own). Very old school, food not that impressive. Grandpa would love it but that because he's afraid to go to Ruth Chris's.
Ringside is a far second to Ruth's - spend the extra $20 and do it right.
Again, service was excellent, feel I need to say it again it was that good.
- Pros: service
My Favorite Place in Portland
by sfmelissaz at Citysearch
I use to live in Portland, but everytime I visit I make a point to have a meal at the Ringside. From the first cocktail & order of onion rings to a bottle of wine from their amazing selection & a NY Strip medium-rare, I am in heaven. The service is old school immpecable- there are some servers that have been there for years and clearly know what they're doing and talking about & take great pride in working there. You could see a Blazer or other local celeb. No matter who shows up your treated special from the attendant parking your car to having one of the owners stop by and make sure everything is going well. One of my all time favorite restaurants in the country- and living in the restaurant mecca of the US this is indeed high praise.
- Pros: Valet Parking, Service, The steaks- Filet/NY
- Cons: Busy on weekends
A Gamble Every Time!
by logandurgen at Citysearch
I have gotten really good steaks here. My wife and I always order the same thing, Filet Mignon Medium. A sign of a good steakhouse is if our two exact orders both taste and are prepared the same. We have been there 4 times. 3 at the northwest Portland Location and 1 time at the east location. My steaks have been GREAT all four times. Hers have been GREAT 1 time and on the poor side three times. Poor because they tasted Fumey and because they were waaay overcooked. I say its a gamble at ringside because almost half the time we have gotten bad steaks. Important to note however is that the times we get good ones, they are WONDERFUL! Great service and atmosphere though.

My steak was cooked as I ordered it. Service was prompt. Meal and drinks were worth the price.
