I like that it's dark inside
by hollywood38 at Citysearch
I want to eat in a dark, intimate setting when I go out. If you want a bright diner, you should go down to the Original. This place remains relatively unchanged since the 70s, and that is half of the charm. The staff is just great, the vibe is warm and welcoming, and the food is right on the money.
- Pros: Fantastic food
- Cons: None that I know of
Best Steaks in town!!!
by RandyWill at Citysearch
I love going to the Ringside for the best steak in town! Friendly people with just the right atmosphere! I know that there are others in town that try to compare, but they don't quite reach the mark when it comes to the overall review. The Ringside staff remember your name, their prices are great...and sometimes that corner booth in the lounge is a nice place to just hang out!
Amazing Steak, Good service
by rockelita at Citysearch
My husband and I just moved to Portland from Texas. We have had our fair share of good prime steaks, so we decided to try Ringside for my husband's birthday. He had the bone-in ribeye and I opted for the choice filet. I was hesitant to try the filet since it was not prime, but I was surprised at how flavorful it was. The choice filet was just as good as other prime filets I have had at different steakhouses. My husband said his ribeye was the best steak he has ever had. Like any other native Houstonians, we are pretty picky when it comes to our food. The service was a little slower than I would have preferred, but it was not a problem. Our waiter was very nice and told us all about the history of the restaurant. it was a great experience, and we will be back many more times.
- Pros: Great steak, many steak choices, great special occasion restaurant
- Cons: Service can be a little slow sometimes, a little dim inside
Absolutley oppulence!!

We had dinner ther over mother's day. It has been a while and the fabulous meal is still on my mind. I have been to a number of nice steakhouses and few compare. From the friendly staff to the overall experience. I love the decore and dim lighting. The food was exceptional. You cannot go wrong, regardless of what you order. A beautiful atmosphere while still being comfortable. I have every intention of going back!!
- Pros: everything
- Cons: parking
Like stepping back in time

My husband and I had dinner here last Wednesday night and had a fabulous time. Our server Frank was very knowledgeable and entertaining. We were seated promptly at a great table and the food as always was delicious. My husband and I have both worked in the restaurant industry for many years and have found few other places in town that are as consistent and tasty. Not to mention old school.

Excellent, excellent, excellent food. Did I say the food was good? The waitress brought us a flashlight to read the menu. Very reminiscent of the good old boy's club but you leave full and content. This is good eats folks.
- Pros: There aren't many places like this still around, enjoy it while you can.
- Cons: Not a "con" to be found
Portland's Best Steak
by b00pi3flak3s at Citysearch
Simply one of the best steakhouses on the west coast, period. The food is a bit pricey, but the quality of service, food, and experience make this place the one to beat in terms of steakhouses in the area.
- Pros: Steak, Service, Datespot, Parking
- Cons: Expensive, Reservations
Excellent steak, service and wine

My husband and I love to go to Ringside for a great steak and wonderful evening! The crab cocktail is wonderful as is their onion rings, (large order! for 2). We always call for reservations ahead of time as you will be disappointed if you don't on busy Friday and Saturdays. They have onsite valet, very convenient to PGE field for those Friday night games. The New York comes sizzeling on a plate with potatoes. The French onion soup should not be missed or their lettuce wedge for a salad. The wait staff are all excellent and always know the best of the wine list. For those of you who like specials, they have a special before 5:45 menu that has excellent prices. Ringside's banana's foster is also quite yummy. We also love the funky chimney and fireplace in the main dining area. The only downside is the space is quite cramped and if you are out in the middle the traffic is a bit much. Otherwise, relax, enjoy, slow down and have a wonderful evening!
- Pros: Steak, Wine list, Location, ambience, service
- Cons: A little crowded, need reservations at least 24 hours out
The most delicious meal

I took my boyfriend to dinner at the Ringside on Burnside for his birthday and dropped a C-note between the two of us, and I'm glad I did. It was the best meal I've ever eaten. The steaks were incredibly good, the onion rings were super. We had the asparagus side. I still dream of that meal.
great steak, dark atmosphere
by juniper420 at Citysearch
I love to eat out at fancy steakhouses, so I am little biased already. There are two locations for the Ringside, one near Gresham and the Burnside location that this review showcases. The Burnside location has a better atmosphere and waitstaff. I have had good service here always, so I am surprised by the reviews with bizzare waitstaff behavior. The wine list is long, but disorganized and our waiter didn't know what to recommend when we described to him what we liked. I think a waitstaff should always know the wine they serve, especially at a steakhouse where the wine can compliment your steak so well. However, this is one of the few steakhouses where the hefty pricetags actually include a starch and green, whereas most of them are just as spendy and the items are ala carte. The restaurant itself is very dark, tradtional steakhouse feel.
- Pros: good steak, not ala carte
- Cons: dark inside, parking
