One of my faves!
by gjportland
We generally do a lunch a NOL, and have yet to be disappointed. I always order fries dark and crispy -- and they are great! Burgers to order, excellent. And with no more smoking, air is breathable. And the beer?
That's the best part of dining here.
- Pros: Great Beer, solid pub grub
- Cons: Atmosphere might not what people like
Overcharged by rude staff. Twice.

Forget about it. I had gone to this place for ten years, but never again. The service was often lacking, but two consecutive trips where my change was not returned and the waiter acted like I was doing her a favor has made my decision for me. An email to the website received no response. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. Try the Hawthorne St. Alehouse instead.
Excellent beer but worse service than Guantanamo Bay..

I've loved going to the Lompoc over the years. The food tends to be pretty good with emphasis on the soups but the real reason to go is really the beer, which is extremely delicious.
Be prepared for some atrocious service though. On a good night you'll just be treated poorly and ignored. If its bad they might get in a pissing match over something random or petty. I don't know what's going on at that place but its always been pretty rough and over billing is somewhat common though reluctantly corrected if you catch it.
More recently I went in there with a couple friends on Monday on which they have a special "Miser Monday" which is $2.50 pints all day, which I would normally recommend. However, our tab arrived tab with everything at full price. That's odd. The reason is was that apparently starting that Monday they decided that all the beers we ordered were exempt ? though there was no mention or note of this anywhere in the bar except for some scribbles on the chalkboard on the other side of the pub. The waitress was typically annoyed that we mentioned it and wouldn't budge on for some people but knocked some change off of the others. Ridiculous.
I won't be going back any time soon but I'll miss the beer.
- Pros: damn good beer
- Cons: Service is like the Spanish Inquisition
Good food ruined by secondhand smoke

We wanted to meet some out of town friends someplace in the NW area of Portland. As regulars at Oaks Bottom Public House, we thought New Old Lompoc might be a good bet. Boy were we wrong! While the food was good and the beer was fine, the atmosphere was lacking. It was so dark we had a hard time reading the menus, and the 4 of us had a hard time breathing while we were there. I was embarassed to have invited my friends to meet me there, and felt badly that we chose a place so completely smoke filled. As the sister pub of Oaks Bottom, a non smoking establishment, I figured we'd be looking at the same environment. I couldn't have been more wrong.
If you can handle the smoke it's a decent place to eat, but it's not so good that I can look past the smoke. We will not be returning.
- Pros: Good food, good beer, nice location
- Cons: parking, smoking is allowed
Amazing Beer.....Great Dark Pub Atmosphere!!!
by dlicious
These guys are great!! I've been to there pub a few times and had a great time with friends and just myself. I usually never just travel to a resturant/Pub without expecting good food and Beer, but New Old Lompoc is the rare exception that Food comes secondary to the Beer! Also, the actual bar is so tiny and faces you in such a way that they have to greet you when you walk in!! Nice and Dark on a Saturday night for times you wish not really see that blind date sitting across from you. Toilets are classical pull chain (or used to be) and lend to old dirty, great pubs. If you like Horse Brass with the lights turned way down, this is your joint!!
Ordered lunch to go...

Was looking for restaurants close to my work and I found this place. Ordered the Brewer's Club and fries, which was ok, but a little dry (might want to ask for some mayo on the side.) You can tell that they DO NOT serve your average greasy bar food. The menu looks like it has some great items on it and I will definitely be trying them. (Check out the website) The bartender was friendly, and made sure I had everything I needed before I left. I will be back and also recommend to my co-workers.
Lompoc rocks

One of the best burgers in town. Stoked that they went back to fresh cut fries.
The service is solid, sometimes a little slow, as it is a bar and they are only staffed as so. Patience IS a virtue, or so they say.
Lots of regulars (I am one) and that makes it comfortable. The servers are quick to recognize you when you frequent the place.
One of my personal faves is that the girls that work there actually seem to care about the place and if you sit at the bar they will make you feel like you are at home. So, yeah, kinda like Cheers in a good way.
- Pros: Dinner service, food, decent parking unless peak work times
- Cons: Bathrooms, day service staff, out of stuff a lot
Thumb in my beer!
by d_weil_e
I've been here four times now. The first two were great. The portabella mushroom sandwich is the best I've had anywhere, and the fish and chips were very good. The beer is also excellent. And It looks like they went back to the homemade fries. The last two times I was there though the service was from the same waiter who served each of our pitchers with his fingers around the handle, and his thumb in the beer! We all looked at each other and thought "ew, I'm not sure I'm so thirsty anymore." The first time he said he was just at the register too, so we got the feeling like he was just handling money and then stuck his thumb in our drink. He also had the attitude like if you rubbed him the wrong way, he'd hock in your burger or something. I would say the service has been typically "less than friendly." I hope it improves, because the food and beer is worth trying them again.
Except for the service and the food, it isn't too bad

Remember Cheers? Remember Carla? The New Old Lompock tries to be that bad, and they succeed. And if you've been looking for some really greasy limp fries, not even McMenamins cooks them up as badly as the Lompock.
- Pros: Beer and tables
- Cons: Everything else
Tasty Northwest brews, eats and one of the city's finest patios.

The Scene
The low-key atmosphere at this neighborhood brewpub is a refreshing change from the bevy of trendy shops and restaurants that line the rest of 23rd Avenue. Named after a bar in an old Mae West movie, the Lompoc has been crafting its own brews since the mid-nineties, and features a variety of ales and lagers with memorable names. The John Outhouse Special Bitter, for example, is an English-style beer, and tastes much better than it sounds.
The Draw
The beautiful, vine-covered patio out back is reason enough to visit. When the weather cooperates, everyone heads outside to eat and drink alfresco style. Complement your libations with a full menu of pub snacks, burgers, sandwiches and salads. Don't miss happy hour on weekdays from 4pm to 7pm, and all day Saturday and Sunday, with $3 pints, $2 off appetizers and $3 well drinks. And stop by for a $2 bloody mary every Sunday Bloody Sunday.
