Owner is rude, crazy?
by Ari Gold at Citysearch
I called the owner to tell him about a bad experience at his restaurant. I was extremely polite. His response was so unbelievably rude, and unprofessional, its hard to fathom that he's actually a business owner. During our very brief conversation, he inturrupted me twice, and ended the call by saying, "We don't need your business." Then he hung up. I felt like a practical joke victim. I've never seen a situation handled so poorly in my life.

The Worst Customer Service by a Hostess Ever!!
by 22bb at Citysearch
I have never felt the need to write one of these before but the customer service I received was so outrageous that I felt compelled to after my experience. My party was treated with so much disrespect and rudeness from the hostess that I will never go back!! We put our name in for four at 6:45 on a busy Saturday night. We knew it would be a wait, so we went to a pub across the street to wait. After 20 minutes, I went back and added two more to our list and the hostess said it would be another 20 minutes, which was fine with us since we knew how busy they were. No problems yet. She even asked for my phone number so that she could call and let us know when our table was ready, which I thought was gracious and nice. We got a call from her at 7:30 telling us it would be ready in 5 minutes. So we sent one person from our party to get it while we closed our tab at the other place. Not more than 5 minutes later she called again to say that she had been saving it for 15 minutes and was ready to give it away. Someone from our party was sitting at the table! She called again a few minutes later as the rest of us walked over and said she had been saving it for 30 minutes (not true!!) and needed to give it to someone else. When I got into the restaurant she told me that she was about to give it away and I told her someone from our party had been sitting there the whole time and she told me that wasn't true. When she looked back she saw him sitting there but said he must have been in the bathroom (he had never gone anywhere!). As we waited for two more of our party to arrive, she came back twice within ten minutes to ask us where our other friends were. I have never had a hostess be so blatantly rude!! We told her they were on their way and ordered salads and drinks while we waited. She came back AGAIN and asked where they were!! A few minutes later, our friends arrived. I am very disappointed and saddened that a restaurant I once liked would treat their customers this way.
- Pros: dessert
- Cons: hostess
Horrible customer service.
by j100 at Citysearch
We stopped in for a lunch on a very hot and sunny Sunday afternoon and after waiting ten minutes (not bad) for an outside table, a very rude and unenthusiastic hostess sat us at a table in direct sun. When we apologetically asked to get seated at a shady table (that happened to be dirty at the time- and one, which we would have been fine waiting for) she informed us that there were four other couples waiting in line and our names would go back to the bottom of the list before she'd reseat us. Seriously? We left on the spot. The food at Papa Haydn's doesn't warrant poor service.
- Pros: Desert, food
- Cons: Service, parking
Disappointing sunday brunch
by eatnow2007 at Citysearch
I went there last weekend for sunday brunch, and it was a very disappointing experience. Chorizo scramble was very dry and plain, no veggies, no nothing, only couple pieces of peppers mixed in, and breakfast potatoes were undercooked. They've also changed their potatos from regular house potatoes to large cubes of something partially boiled and then quickly fried, they were aweful! I will not go there for brunch for a long time.
Service worth hurling up over
by yoyojo at Citysearch
This place used to be a great place to eat dessert. The regular food menu is not worth the price. I used to endorse this place, but I can no longer. This is not a place where you can walk up and buy a whole cake, rather they like to send you down to the market down the road for a cake that's a couple days to a week old. The service the last time I went in recently was horrible!!!! I was ignored for much of the time. I've noticed the last two times I've been in the cake I was served was rather rigid and stale. It's hard to get anything somewhat fresh anymore in this establishment. My espresso also was sour instead of bitter. I should have just gone to the green and white super chain if I wanted a sad excuse for coffee! May I suggest Moonstruck down the street or one of the other dessert establishments for a better dessert option on 23rd.
- Pros: Ambience, Selection
- Cons: Parking, Stale Desserts, Unsavory and Snooty Waiters

Visited several weeks ago with my wife and another couple. The service was very slow (and they weren't that busy). The desserts were visually very nice. Eating was not so great. Flavors were flat and had the impression vegetable oil was used instead of butter. Overall, was very dissapointed from a quality view.
Never again!

I work in the 23rd district, and am always referring people to this restaurant but NEVER again will I refer anyone here. I went in on a Saturday night (knowing that they would be busy), but could barely even get through the door to just say, I want some dessert to go. Once I finally got up to the dessert case, that was fully covered by even more people and rude waiters yelling "I need by." About 45 minutes later, I finally got out and when I got home to finally enjoy what I had spent so hard getting, my desert was dry and almost stale. You would think that a successful restaurant would realize that they need more space, mannerisms training for their staff, and a better way to keep their food fresh. I'm sad to see that one of my favorite places went so downhill!!!!
- Pros: Can't think of one!, How sad!
- Cons: Overly Crowded, Dry/Stale Food, Rude Staff
