Loud. felt like a cafeteria
by portlandgirl101
There was a crying baby, loud teenagers to one side, a father and young couple talking about the pros and cons of marriage on the other side. We asked to sit in the bar area by the windows because it was less crowded, but it was all reserved. Don't come without a reservation if you want it a little quiet. I couldn't even hear the music at all.
food.. i had the orange chicken. it was dry, and the broccoli was too crunchy. my husband did like his soup, and the cocktail was good.
overall for the price I expected more.
- Cons: the restaurant was so loud
Great If One Supports Slave Trade
by scothighlander
After I read the Oregonian article about how the multi-millionaire owners use deportation tactics with their help the food that I previously enjoyed left a kick to my somach and a bad taste to my integrity. If you enjoy this place then one is really going to enjoy the North Korean Presidential cuisine coming to Portland in late 2009.
- Pros: Great Food
- Cons: Loss of Dignity
Good Food and Service
by FloralDriver
Great food. Lots of flavor. Not super fast but I mentioned it to our server and they said they would hurry it up. They were allowing us time to talk to each orher. In their defence we should have said we were pressed for time. Once mentioned our food came promptly. Everything was tasty.
- Pros: Flavorful.
One of my absolute favorites!!!

I hadn't been a big fan of Thai food before. But a friend kept trying to convince me to check out Typhoon. I am glad I did. It's now one of my top two favorite restaurants in all of Portland. Love it!!! Incredible flavor in every dish.
- Pros: Flavor in every dish. Unique creations.
- Cons: Can't think of any.
Nothing short of an EXCELLENT dining experience. VERY authentic

EXTENSIVE Tea and Cocktail menus
by stevewestin
The food at Typhoon is colorful and well prepared. Some entrees are also works of Art.
Their Cocktail menu is creative with many Asian and Tea inspired Cocktails.
And their Tea Menu if the largest that I know of in Portland. If you are a Tea afficianado.... you must stop in to Typhoon for the Tea.
The appetizsers are delightful. Their Pad Thai is good.... but dishes like their deep fried Halibut aqre magnicifent. This is a more elegant version of Thai than many of the other Thai restaurants throughout the USA.
- Pros: GREAT TEA LIST
Good place

It's worth trying out if you are in Portland and like Thai cuisine, especially on a moderate budget.
- Cons: not responsive to customer problems; hair in food
Trendy Thai. Good food, good service at Everett location.
by hanuman68
Have been to the Everett location a few times, and the food has been consistently good. Appetizers (get the nibble platter) are great, and the entrees have been consistently good. I don't know what's up with Gresham location. Went there for take-out, and the service was awful. Unhelpful and inattentive. Thankfully, the food was still good.
- Pros: Food, service (at Everett location)
- Cons: Typical parking problems on NW 23rd.
awesome thai!
by myswami
I am new to the area and have had a hard time finding good thai restaurants and this one surprised me with how good it is. I've only been once but loved the chicken cashew. They also have a full bar which most thai restaurants don't have. I will definitely be going back here. It is a little spendy than most, but well worth it.
- Pros: good food, hip atmosphere, full bar
- Cons: a little pricey
Great Food! Awesome Service!

I love Typhoon! Sam the manager is so great and always so helpful! The people who work here will do everything to ensure you enjoy your experience. The food is awesome and I'm really sad to see the Massaman Curry with Beef go away for the summer :( But now I'll enjoy my noodle dishes until it comes back!
