Great way to fail

by Deaconpdx

Call in @ 10PM to get a pizza. First off I can barely understand a single word because they've got the music absolutely blasting. Now I'm a fan of very loud music but not when I have to say everything 2 or more times to get anything across.

Then the price was different from what the online price was.

Instead of taking 45min to and hour it was 1hour&45min and by that time the pizza was cold and smashed to one side as if had been set on its side.

I hate complaining like this but I'm sure this pizza would have been great if everything didn't happen as it did. but it did and this place (city search wont let me use the words that I want to use.)

  • Pros: Better than Dominoes
  • Cons: Just about everything

Absolute best pizza, especially at this price

by MechaXian

This is the best place for pizza in Portland. The wonderful mural might be even more fun to look at than the hypnotic stream of Burnside traffic, but service or atmosphere is not why this place is here. This is the very best pizza I've had in my life. The crust is thick and crispy, so if that's not your thing I can understand if you prefer others, but few other let you build your own slice. With only a few of your favorite toppings added, even just a single slice will leave you perfectly sated (and I'm no micro-stomach starving hipster). Even if you are in a group and inclined to order a pizza out of habit, I would still advise you all go wild and build your own slices - somehow they seem a bit more substantial, it means there's no compromises, and if you get just 3 toppings it often ends up being cheaper. Other than that, beer is served, which is nice, and pitchers are available, which is great, but I think I'd rather drink a 40oz in the street -- this place is great as somewhere to sit while you consume your fantastic pizza, and little more.

  • Pros: best pizza for the best price, build your own slices
  • Cons: the service seems like it's just there to keep the pizza-cook company

great pizza - bad service

by foxglover

It's true what many people have written about Pizza Oasis; the pizza is very good but the service is very poor. Inattentive service is one thing, but straight-up rude service is another. The ladies who work here have always given me nasty looks when I've walked in and it's not uncommon for them just to literally DROP your food onto the table and walk away. What gives? I'm always friendly and tip well. Is this anyway to treat people, let alone your customers? I've also waited up to 45 minutes for a slice of pizza here before (with no explanation or apology of course, just the same food-drop I've come to expect there.) And the salads are really lousy too. But alas, the pizza is so good! Come on ladies, I'm not asking you to jump through hoops or something, just basic decency.

  • Pros: pizza
  • Cons: abysmal service

by linzzzeee

The pizza at Pizza Oasis is the best in town: from the crust to the sauce to the quality of ingredients. This place is not helping me to break my pizza addiction!

Yum! MOSF

by Jazzy11111

This is my favorite pizza place in town. The slices are huge; the crust is crispy and chewy and wonderful. Staff is really friendly and they play good music. Thanks Pizza Oasis. See you in a few days, as usual. xoxox

PS: Mushroom, olive, spinach and feta is delightful. If only I could eat it every day.

  • Pros: Pizza
  • Cons: if i eat it every day i'll be poor and fat

Realaxing Pizza, MMMMMmmm

by henstep

Simply AWESOME! There are complaints about service, it's a relaxed place take your time. It's a long wait for a slice, so i pick up a newspaper, order a pop, free refills, don't be afraid to ask. think of it like staying with family. I love The Meaty Chad. spicy and enough meat to hold me over. The speedy Gonzalez only if you are alone, they put a lot of garlic on, which my girlfriend didn't like :| It's a good place to Sit and study for an hour, sit and take friends to be filled up on a good meal. It is more than enough, they serve your pizza with a fork and knife. Price isn't bad. expensive, but it's not a cardboard crust or some lame pepperoni it's delicious! You get what you aid for and a $5 slice isn't bad at all.

  • Pros: Great atmosphere, relaxing meal, GREAT pizza and breadsticks.
  • Cons: time it takes, and the fact i'm not there now.

Unfriendly and rude employees

by noeticdove

I agree with a couple of the previous comments made about this place. Their employees are rude and not very friendly. My husband and I sat down to eat and were not greeted promptly, and once we asked for someone to help us we were treated as if we were a problem child. No refills on our drinks, and we had to ask for our bill. Not once were we given a smile or a friendly greeting.

You would think that a local business would make some effort to give courteous and friendly customer service so that they could try and create a local franchise. Its hard to believe that this place has stayed in business for 15 years with the kind of service they provide(d).

The food is great, dont get me wrong. But there are many great pizza places in Portland, and alot of them provide better service than this place. My family will not be returning.

  • Pros: good food and good location
  • Cons: ill mannered employees

Extremely bad customer service

by realityinmind

I cant believe the customer service I was given by this place.

I called to place an order for delivery and was rushed to get off the phone quickly. I had questions regarding toppings and sizes and didnt even get them all answered. Then as I finally made my order, the guy rushed me to get off the phone after giving him my credit card information. I was told it would take an hour or so to get a pizza delivered 12 blocks away.

I get into the shower and get out 25 minutes later to find that I have a voicemail from them. Obviously they copied my credit card information down wrong. So I called back and a girl answered and she said she knew who I was. I said "Since you copied my information down wrong, have you started on my pizza so that I dont have to wait another hour or so for it to be delivered?". She said they had not started on it and that I would still have to wait. I proceeded to say "Well that makes no sense, now I will have to wait..." and she HUNG UP on me.

I called back. The first guy answered and I said "Why in the hell did that girl just hang up on me?" and wanted to speak to the manager. He said that SHE was the manager. She gets on the phone and I said "Why in the hell did you hang up on me in the middle of talking? That is extremely f*ck*d up." and then she hung up on me again.

I called back. She answered "Hello" and I said "What are you doing? Why are you hanging up on me?" and she said "You arent going to talk to me this way and Im hanging up on you again." and she hung up on me again.

i called back (this time more to humor myself) and they never answered.

I can not believe that a manager treated me this way. It is already rude that they rushed me to get off the phone quickly, but they actually screwed up writing down my information and had not even started on my pizza.

I have eaten at this place multiple times, and I will never go back. I do remember that the calzones are good, but the salads are nasty.

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!

  • Pros: calzones are good.
  • Cons: poor customer service, extremely nasty salads

Worst place to eat!!

by ccookie400

I want to let people know to watch out for there food it is very good but you may get sick. I have been sick a few times only light stomach problems but my husband got deathly ill the other night.

The customer service is horrible you may sit there for 15 minutes to even order your food, is you call your food in for pickup it will be allot faster. Once I sat there for 20 minutes and the waitress was just talking to her her co workers then finally came up to me and asked if I wanted something! Dam

best slices and cheeeeeeeeeap!

by pawtown

i love the cheese pizza slice. they start by-the-slice orders with an already cooked cheese pizza and add either more cheese for a cheese only slice-i think i would like to type the word cheese again-or add whatever topping you like, and there are many. we used to live nearby and go all the time and always had competent service. as for the unapologetic waitress mentioned in another review i assume she is of the same ilk as most northwesterners. i notice many people have an abnormal aversion to using their P's and Q's in these parts and for those of us who do it can appear ungracious. chef, greek and garden salad are all solid, the smalls are not small either. crust is neither too thick nor tnin and is good enough to finish the edge with some marinara. there is no atmosphere but that makes it ok to go out in your fat pants, sweatshirt or whatever monstrosity of fashion you were loafing about the house in. no hipsters, no scene just awesome pizza and PBR flows for very few dollahz.

  • Pros: best by the slice pizza
  • Cons: i find the whole pies to be less addictive than the slices, but still good
