Still loving my rings!
by Christine Cavanaugh
I was first exposed to Gilt by a friend who knew the owner and worked there part time. I thought the pieces were beautiful and amazing and talked about the shop to my then-boyfriend (now husband!). He surprised me by going in to the shop and talking to the owner and my friend. They both had been there when I was admiring rings so they were able to give him hints/tips about what I had liked. He picked out the most beautiful ring and I love it more every day. I get compliments about it all the time and I love telling people it is a piece of estate jewelry from the 30's. I really like having a ring that is not a cookie-cutter engagement and wedding band set.
Thank you, Gilt for helping my husband way back when... I plan on sending him your way soon... we just moved back to Oregon and just celebrated our 4th anniversary. :)
- Pros: Beautiful unique jewelry and expert staff!
awesome

I purchased my wife a gift here and she loved it ... they helped me a lot.
We did have to get our ring repaired, but Gilt took care of it for us with no problem. We also had other jewelry items from family that needed repair so they sent us to their jeweler at , the girl there was great and real inexpensive. $60 to repair a ring... wow.
- Pros: alot of inventory... great service.
- Cons: parking
My wife is going to stay married to me because of Gilt
by masageef
My wife is obsessed with antique/vintage jewelry and so we bought her a wedding ring from Gilt (last year, the ring is still looking great!). Our anniversary was a few weeks ago and I decided to head back to Gilt to see what I could find. With some help from the staff I ended up buying a pair of Victorian bracelets. Needless to say (but I will anyways) my wife loves them! Also needless to say (but again, I will anyways) I will be going back to Gilt whenever I need to buy a romantic-ish gift.
Thank you to the people who work at Gilt for being so friendly (and patient) with me!
- Pros: excellent selection, even better staff
- Cons: can't think of any...

We, too, are addicted to antique and vintage jewelry! We value our fellow collectors and we are grateful that they help us to preserve all the little pieces of history that occupy our cases. Our specialty is present-buying assistance and we love to help people find just the right piece. We are happy that you have found success with your gifts from Gilt and we appreciate your feedback!
Poor Settings
by aliciabree
My fiance and I were really excited about finding jewelry for our engagement rings - and although we didn't find one for him... i found a perfect ring. I had walked in not wanting gold or diamonds - and left with a white gold ring with five small diamonds - but I love it! It's amazing.
Unfortunately, a week and a half after buying the ring, one of the diamonds fell out. When we brought it into a local jeweler to find out how much it would be to replace - they found all of the diamond settings to be severely worn, and also found a fissure in the gold that needed repair. We paid the same price to repair the ring as we did to buy it. I only wish the sales person at gilt had told us there might be repairs needed - we would've taken that into account in our purchase decision. I'm really happy I got a vintage ring, and I love it, but I just want other people that might also be new to jewelry shopping to know that repair may be a hidden cost in your purchase.
- Pros: beautiful jewelry, nice local art
- Cons: vintage jewelry in questionable shape

We sincerely wish that you had called us as soon as you had questions about your ring. We would have refunded your purchase or replaced the missing stone and repaired the issues at hand FREE OF CHARGE. We stand behind our products and want to make sure that each and every one of our customers remains happy with their pieces. Some pieces have quirks that do not become apparent until regular wear and we are glad to help our customers with any pieces from Gilt.
Praise for Gilt!

There are not many bad reviews but even seeing some makes me sad. Gilt is wonderful! We need more small businesses like Gilt! That store is what makes Portland unique and beautiful. Every time I go in there the owner is always engaging and nice to talk to! They always offer to steam my ring and check it for wear.
I love Gilt! Hip hip, hooray!
- Pros: Great location!
- Cons: Not the best parking but whatever!

It is because of our customers that we are able to be here and we appreciate all of you. Being a small, local business affords us the chance to form relationships with our clients. We are thankful for the opportunity to get to know you and others. Come by anytime to chat, we are always happy to see you (and revisit the pretty pieces you got from us) and we are happy to help!
Definitely worth a look

Stopped in three times as I visited multiple states searching for the perfect antique engagement ring and other family gifts. First the positives: friendly, knowledgable and well-staffed; cozy shop atmosphere; good selection and pricing on low to mid-level items. Now the drawbacks: few parking opportunities (but who cares when you are looking for a special gift!?!); for high-end vintage look elsewhere (I recommend Margulis); didn't get the impression that they would come down in price; they rarely stock aesthetically risky items--in other words, they choose vintage items that are close enough to contemporary tastes that they should easily sell but this means that their collection is sometimes less interesting. Finally, I was fascinated by a religious piece, but I could tell the clerk was holding her nose a bit over my religious affiliation. This was odd and unfortunate. Otherwise the service was excellent.
- Pros: warm staff and atmosphere, many items
- Cons: selection is too "safe" on the whole--take some risks!

Thank for the positive response! We try our hardest to make our customers feel welcome and we love to share what we have learned over the past 25 years about vintage and antique jewelry.
I apologize if you felt anything less than a friendly vibe from us. We feel that all the estate jewelry we carry is important to the history of adornment. This includes a great appreciation for the religious pieces no matter what affiliation they carry. Again, we appreciate the feedback and hope to see you again.

Amazing Antique Jewelry
by ocendade
Gilt has the best antique pieces I've seen around. I stopped by the other day just to look around, but as always looking around turned into much more than that, anyway the staff was amazing. They were extremely attentive and very helpful when it came to helping me decide on a ring. One of the ladies was even nice enough to take time and measure my index finger to make sure I'd be getting a comfortably fitted ring. The staff was amazing beyond belief and the selection for antique jewelry is just to die for. Absolutely fabulous!!
- Pros: Great Staff and Amazing selection
A great place to find a wedding ring
by mmmmlattes
My wife and I have been to Gilt about a half dozen times in the past year (we were shopping for a wedding ring) and each time we were warmly received. During our first visit, we let the salesperson know that we were in the market for a wedding ring. She was eager to help and quick to offer neat little details about each of the rings we were interested in. It took us a few visits to find a ring (after our 2nd visit, we noticed a vast change in the selection, so we thought that it might be a good idea to show up often). The salespeople at Gilt began to recognize us as regular customers but they never showed any sign of frustration with our relentless browsing. After 4 or 5 visits we found the one ring that my wife couldn't live without, a gold 1940's sapphire and diamond engagement ring (she uses it as her wedding band).
We later went back to buy a gift for the woman who was performing our wedding ceremony. Since we weren?t sure what to buy, the salesperson began to ask questions about our officiant and eventually pointed us in the direction of a Victorian brooch. Needless to say, she loved it!
We will definitely be going back.
- Pros: friendly/knowledgeable staff, great prices
- Cons: none
