Phong is an exceptional bodyworker. He appears to have an innate talent to feel the body multi-dimensionally and multi-directionally, assessing lines and patterns of tension throughout and even beyond the physical body. Combined with a superior understanding of anatomy and therapeutic modalities, the result is a truly fantastic massage. I have struggled with a very complex physical injury for many years. It is difficult to assess and difficult to treat. Phong is the first professional practitioner I have encountered in three years to do both very quickly, very efficiently and very skillfully. An amazing experience and excellent work. As a massage therapist myself I say confidently that his work is not to be missed. Thank You Phong!

I've been getting massages for the last 20 years. It's my one self indulgence that I will not sacrifice or compromise. I don’t care if the massage is in a spa, office room or home visit setting. The massage and specifically the masseuse are the key. I met Phong about 7 years ago. Every visit he asks if I have any specific areas he should address. He reminds me to tell him at any time during the massage to increase or decrease pressure or to focus on any other trouble spots as they became apparent. Originally, my main issue was the work stress I carried in my neck, shoulders and upper back. But over the years Phong has helped me with lower back pain, a pinched nerve in my neck, tendentious, stress headaches and overkill gym workout soreness. A year ago I moved to Florida. Phong’s massage is the first appointment I’ve scheduled for all 4 return visits to Portland since then. If you’re looking for a professional masseuse with a personal touch, look no further.

I knew before the massage was even over that Phong had made more progress on my shoulders than any other attempt I have made over the past 5 years. I had alot going on, from lower sciatic pain - my main reason for needing to stop everything and get a massage - to mid back, both shoulders, and finally neck issues. We planned an hour and a half massage but Phong couldn't stop at that because I needed more. He wasn't even going to charge me for the full two hours, but I paid him appropriately anyway. I practically skipped home! I recommended him to everyone I work with and would definately use his services again. The pressure can be intense at times, but that's what I wanted, that's what he told me to expect (and to communicate and let him know if at any time it was too hard or painful) and that's what worked! Thanks Phong!

Well, that's very interesting. I'm an experienced consumer. I read all these great reviews and thought I would undoubtedly find exactly the kind of skilled therapeutic massage I've been looking for. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. Pressure and massage techniques were applied without any sensitivity at all (OUCH!!). I felt bruised in areas for over a week. I booked an hour-and-half massage. I specified some areas where I wanted extra attention, yet I specifically asked for a full body massage. The masseur did not manage his time appropriately--he spent the entire 90 minutes working on my back, primarily jabbing at hip and waist areas with his forearm and elbows for 85% of that time (OUCH, OUCH, OUCH!). He never got to other areas I had specified at all (like my neck--Jeeze!!!!!)---with no effort whatsoever to even try get to them. That's it, ding, ding, the party's over. The guy was pleasant enough as a person, but the massage was not a particularly pleasant experience. Strength is nothing without awareness, consideration and sensitivity. I always base my final judgment on results. Based on results (I was very sore and I could not tell that anything at all had changed for the better), I would not return to this masseur. Later, a clerk at Kiehls' down the street told me that, based on the recommendations, she'd been to him too and that his massage was so rough that she'd never go back either. So, I'm left wondering just who is writing these rave reviews.
Pros: Pleasant enough person.
Cons: Parking, outside walk-up. Lack of sensitivity. Poor time management.

Phong gave me the best massage that I've ever had. And not only was he a talented masseuse, he's a lovely conversationalist as well, so I was entertained the whole time and didn't feel uncomfortable (it being the first time I had seen a male LMT). I'd had a shoulder injury for at least 3 months and a day after the massage, it feels almost completely better. I went home and slept like a baby. Phong is awesome.
Pros: Great price, great value, strong hands, and funny too!

This man is the most talented masseur Ive ever found. He is masterfully skilled in a variety of techniques, possesses in-depth anatomical training and pays attention - which when combined with years of experience and awareness, provides an entirely new, elevated level of precious relief and comfort. His flexible use of technique and attention to my muscle responses created, hands-on, the most exceptional massage Ive ever received and Id had few massages in my 53 years of living since my back suffers with an elaborate scoleosis. He is masterful. From a new, but grateful client
Pros: Really strong and perceptive, adaptive and focused

I had two neck surgeries and have been to many massage therapists. Over the years, my neck and muscles surrounding it became very tight. My left arm can't rotate fully. My husband decided to schedule an appointment with Phong. I wasn't sure if he could help me. I was wrong. He was able to get into the problem area and relieve a lot of pain and tension I have had for years. I was so surprised that my arm can rotate almost fully around. I would definitely go back to see him. I have been to the nice beautiful spas, but was disappointed with the massages. Phong is not about the fluff, but if you want results, he is the man.
Pros: Great massage.

While living and working at a residential massage school, I had the very fortunate position of having so many offers for free sessions that I actually had to turn some of them down - we were in a isolated rural setting, and the 70+ students all had to practice on someone! Since then, I've become rather picky about the therapists I go to (ie, am willing to pay for). The "relaxing full body"-type massage can be very pleasant, but it is so popular among the general public that it can be difficult to find a therapist who is able and/or willing to really get to work on those problematic and chronically painful areas that we all have. Phong is both willing and able! His technique is excellent. He was able to relieve pain that I struggled with for a solid year prior to seeing him. Very highly recommended!

The atmosphere is relaxing, the massage was incredible and Phong is very personable and professional. I have had many, many massages in my life and being a soldier in the Oregon Army National Guard muscle work is sometimes necessary. Yet no one has impressed me enough to be a returning customer. I have been to Massage Therapeutics twice now and have been more than satisfied each time. Phong has a customer for life, for sure.
Pros: technique, skill, atmosphere
Cons: NW style parking

The studio was warm and inviting and the masseuse (Phong) was absolutely delightful. Hands down (no pun intended) the best value for the best massage I've ever had. I cannot recommend this place highly enough! Thanks!
Pros: Inexpensive, Attentive, Friendly
