Great facility by Hannah B. at InsiderPages

This Humane Soceity completely dispells the stigma one usually associates with an animal shelter. The Oregon Humane Society is clean and bright. Dogs are put in very large cages, with their name/age/weight/circumstances clearly displayed on an attached piece of paper. There are at least two playrooms where prospective owners are encouraged to play with the animals before they adopt. Their Web site is also excellent; it is constantly updated and when an animal is adopted, their picture comes down almost immediately. There is a well-stocked gift shop, with all monies going right back to the Humane Society. This is a great place and if you're in the market to adopt a pet, definitely check it out.
PROS: Clean & bright, lots of animals for adoption
CONS: ...lots of animals for adoption...

Purebreds, mutts, puppies, kittens, rabbits, ducks, rodents--young and old, the Humane Society has them all for adoption.
OHS is a worthy charity

In the past six years alone I've adopted three dogs from the Oregon Humane Society. The new shelter on Columbia boulevard is pleasent for both the animals looking for a new home and the humans looking for an animal companion. The staff and volunteers make sure the person looking to adopt an animal will be able to properly care for it. If you're looking to add a dog or cat to your household the OHS should be your first stop.
- Pros: clean, good parking, non-euthanizing
