Something for everyone

by norcal1

We were unsure what to expect but were pleasantly surprised. Large, airy dining room and lots of outdoor seating. The menu was very varied and has something for everyone. Huge portions! Desserts were beautiful but were massive. Great value. Only downside was the sketchy service; our waitress was overly familiar and made inappropriate comments about what we ordered, she also forgot to bring various items that we had to remind her about. Will definitely try this place again, though.

  • Pros: Varied menu, great value
  • Cons: Service, loud music

WoW do you like dessert?

I eat out a lot and I have never had a bad meat at 'Perry's.' There is nothing on this menu that is not excellent!

In Arnold's wor\\\

by dsmiller

A great surprise. A bit of a wait is well worth it since the dishes look and taste like they were prepared just now for me rather than by the batch earlier in the day to just be warmed. Consistency in quality has been impressive. Desserts are rich and varied and seem homemade.

Portions are big enough to take home the leftovers for a snack. The staff do well with all they juggle and provide personal service and check back to make sure everything is OK. This owners and staff circulate in an easy going way rather than some snooty fru fru affair. We have been served several times by Ruby who is a star - friendly with a good sense of humor who has made suggestions in a way that is appreciated. An outdoor seating area in a garden setting expands the dining options in good weather. Prices are very reasonable.

Try this!

by udig

I live in the Pearl where there is no shortage of good restaurants. I wanted to try something new, so I went to Perry's. The menu has a wide range for all tastes. The Halibut was the best I ever had. The food didn't appear instantly, but arrived hot and fresh. The server was great, and the place has a real ambience. I'll be back with my friends. Dr. Rick

Worst All Around

by tberg

As a local to the neighborhood, we love to eat in and around our "digs". We tried Perry's almost 3 years ago and thought it was mediocre (at best) as well as way overpriced. Well, unfortunately, we gave it another try and this is what has prompted this review. It is really TOO bad that such a wonderful location has such a terrible restaurant taking up so much space. The menu is all over the place, the food, while I think it has potential, is completely underminded by the unprofessional waitstaff and slow service. All in all, we took some out of town friends here and ended up completely embarrassed by our choice of venues after having bragged about the amazing restaurants in our neighborhood. Take advantage of the other amazing restaurants in Portland- Perry's leaves A LOT to be desired.

Ok food, service could be better

by mc250

I live fairly close to this restaurant though it is not on my list of places to go. I've eaten there several times over the years but nothing about it was special enough for me to want to make it a regular destination. The service was a bit snooty and I never hear anyone talk about this restaurant like I do about so many other places nearby. It's an ok place, give it a try you might like it better than I do.

  • Pros: Tasty fries
  • Cons: Service a bit snooty

Consistently great service and food!

by papamcqueen

The food, service and atmosphere is always great. This is where we go for special occasions, when you want to enjoy the company you are with in a relaxing atmosphere. Price is more than acceptable for what you get. This is not a chain restaurant, the wait staff doesn't wear buttons informing you they have a special on ribs. The desserts are wonderful. I am going there tonight, and can't wait.

Great food, and Great with Kids

by tassiegirl

My friends and I were a slightly concerned about taking their 2 year old to such an "adult" restaurant, and were pleasantly thrilled at the lovely manner in which the waitresses charmed and amused our little friend with books to read and a generally friendly presence. It was a completely delightful experience, the desserts were wonderful, and the service was perfect. Well done, Perry's!

  • Pros: Great service, Outdoor Seating, Desserts

Luscious Desserts!

by emersushe

As a kid my parents took us out to Perry's quite a bit. All I remember from then was an abundance of interesting masks and yummy food. Recently, my boyfriend and I happened to drive past Perry's and decided to stop by. It was wonderful! The service was astonishing, the food was good and the ambiance was warm and inviting. But our dessert is what stole the show. I ordered a slice of black and white raspberry swirl cake, the thing was immaculate! I've never had a hunk of cake that large and that good. The only downside was the cost, nearly $8.00 for a slice of cake. My entree was pretty pricey as well. If you're a young, poor, college hooligan like myself Perry's may seem out of the question, but save your pennies, its worth it!

  • Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere
  • Cons: Price, Not open Mondays

Cozy comfort food and fantastic homemade desserts in a subdued neighborhood setting.

by Contributor

The Scene
A mix of well-heeled locals, families and couples fold nicely into the relaxed dining room to appease their sweet tooths over candlelight and Tony Bennett tunes. Weekdays, the verdant patio fills with ladies who lunch, and the bar hosts a mellow happy hour.

The Food
The encyclopedic menu focuses on the familiar. Start with the French onion soup oozing with cheese or dig into one of the substantial entree salads. Try good, honest versions of favorites like chicken pot pie, juicy burgers on house-made rolls, or familiar pasta dishes. Truthfully though, most people are here for dessert. The list includes 21 choices, like the gooey chocolate-caramel mousse cake, three varieties of bread pudding, five types of pie and the quintessential impulse dessert: Hot-fudge brownie sundae.
