Rude, rude service
by annie B
I'm piggybacking on the "Rude Service" entry. Last night, my good friend and I had dinner and a drink, each, at County Cork. Much like the chagrined Paddy's Day Poster, we were rudely treated by the waiter by the same moniker. He took away our dishes when we were barely done, didn't ask if we wanted additional beers and then blaringly told us that we "were invited to sit at the bar now since other people were waiting for tables." We were not pleased with the rude service and we left tips to reflect the waiter's horrible service. We won't ever go back to this establishment.
- Pros: Close to home
- Cons: Horrible service
Rude service.

I just had a really bad Saint Paddy's day experience that this Pub. I met up with 3 friends for a late lunch and support a friend's band playing there. We got there EARLY to get a table and had beers and some decent Irish pub food but nothing can compare to how rude a server "Chris" was. As soon as we were done eating he came and wiped off our table and placed the menus back in front of us and asked very rudely if we intended to order more and if not we could go stand by the bar since people were wanting to sit and eat. We remarked that we just finished eating (he had just taken our dishes away) and were waiting for the end of the set (which was in a few short minutes). He left for only a few seconds, in which we are stared at each other dumbstruck over his rudeness, and then returned insisting we give up the table. Nothing excuses horrific service. I won't ever be back. I called to try and speak to a manager but got the run around.
- Pros: The booked a good Irish Band
- Cons: Inexcusably rude customer service
Family friendly+ they pour a mean Guiness+live music
by gurrli5
Hi-This is hands down one of the best joints to hang out at,share a beer with friends and feel comfortable with kids. They have good happy hour 4-6 and on Friday nights they have live music-usually of the irish variety. our 19 month old daughter loves the shepard pie!Our daughter loves to dance up front with the other kids or read the kid library.I do wish they'd add a toy box to the mix to help entertain the munchkins and perhaps a couple more highchairs as they seem to always be in high demand. There's a cool outside patio when the weather is warmer, dartboards and overall great irish comfort foods. I really recommend this place to all ages and especially families lookin to chill out without stickin out!cheers****
- Pros: family friendly,live irish music,patio
- Cons: none really
RE: Review by rbag from 2/6/07

I was the one that rbag spoke to on the phone regarding her claim that our fish 'n' chips made her and her friend sick. Immediately after our conversation, I contacted the department of health and relayed the information to them. They told me that food borne illnesses typically will not make you sick overnight. In fact, if rbag would have complained through proper channels (the department of health) she would have discovered that they would have investigated everything and everywhere she ate for the past week prior to her illness. Had we received anymore complaints, I would have reported them IMMEDIATELY just as I had with rbag's. The fact that I didn't leads me to believe that she got sick from another source.
The County Cork is a neighborhood pub with a regular, local customer base. We take great care to insure all of our food products are handled and stored properly. I appreciate everyone's comments and opinions (negative or positive) about our food, service, and atmosphere. However, I do NOT appreciate slander or accusations that I negligently taint people with my food.
In the future, refer all health-related restaurant complaints to the state department of health. It is much more productive than dragging someone's reputation through the mud on a website review.
Good fish 'n' chips but slow service
by mzwong
Really good bar food in a nice atmosphere. Great back patio. Kids are allowed in there, which is nice, though the slow service can make for some pretty cranky kids. Great beer selection, and multiple dart boards are a nice touch. Really appreciate that it's non-smoking! An alternative to the Horse Brass's super smoky bar.
Service could be (much) prompter, but all in all a good place to go.
- Pros: Food, beer selection, patio, non-smoking
- Cons: slow service
Lovely place to watch the game with your babe!
by bexmonster
This place is awesome. I can take my babe in there with me. I ate there for the first time this week and had a wonderful experience with our waitress who was very thoughtful and sweet. I love that I can eat fish and chips (fried in soy oil...no trans fats!) and watch baseball with my kid.
- Pros: sports, baby friendly, great beers, not trendy, great happy hour
horrible service

The staff was rude and argumentative. Will not be returning. There is plenty of good beer elsewhere.
- Pros: beer list
- Cons: rude staff
unfortunate expreience

My friend and I ate fish and chips from County Cork, which are usually good, however, this last time we both ended up quite sick. I normally wouldn't write a bad review, but when I called to explain my concern to the restaurant they handled it very poorly by denying it. It's clear that that is where we got sick as it was the only thing that we ate together. Unfortunately these things happen, but it's even worse when they aren't responsible when it does happen. Just look into it - that would have been a simple solution.
A neighborhood pub with great atmosphere, friendly service and a jolly crowd.

In Short
This Irish public house-themed bar is less over-the-top than many, with just a few bits of Irish memorabilia. But true to the pub spirit, there is a weathered bar and a darts area. Pub-goers here sip on Irish, English, Belgian and Northwest brews or chow down a hearty Irish meal. The menu features sandwiches, beer-battered fish-and-chips, bangers and mash and the Ploughman's platter, consisting of cheese, carrots, eggs, apples, pickled onions and soda bread.
