Good Burger but not much else

Stanich's has great burgers; I even like that they are grilled on a flat top. I like the bad cheese and too salty ham. It is a burger, after all, and I would rather that than foie gras on my burger. The fries are fresh cut and taste like it; in other words, it is really hard to get them crispy and not greasy tasting. Stanich's has beer, which is nice, but the selection leaves something to be desired. Besides, burgers this good call for a milkshake. The decor, I am sure, appeals to some, with penants from every college in America (or real close) and formica topped tables. Unfortunately I would rather not have a TV on while I am eating. The service is fine, a little slow but friendly. All in all a nice neighborhood place and an even better place to get a burger to take home.

Told not to come back!

We got there and it was busy so we expected it to take a while. But, when 4 other groups came in a half hour after us and were served before us I was understandably upset. Two of the groups were even done eating before we got our food. We waited 15 minutes for our order to be taken and an hour for the food. The food was delicious. But after having waited an hour for it and seeing others served first I asked for a discount. The manager was understanding and did so but not without the "waitress" all but calling me a liar behind him. As I left she yelled, "DON"T COME BACK"! Don't worry lady, I won't.

Best Burger

Stanich's is excellent! I have been going there for close to 24 years sense I was a little kid. We used to live across the street and go there for dinner once a week. The Stanich Burger is good. The Bo Burger ( not called that anymore I dont think) is my favorite. Not many people have French Fries with the Patatoe skin still on them which is how I like them. The atmosphere is good. What more can you ask for. Its not a place for a uptown burger. This is the kinda burger joint you dont go to if you want to loose weight. It is however the place you want to go if you want a good old fashioned home style burger.

• Cons: Parking is bad during busy times

This is the burger that Portland has bragged about for years?

I could have tolerated the smoke, the tacky atmosphere and the sticky table if the burger had been as good as I have heard for years. The bread fell apart before I was able to take a second bite. I guess I expected the meat itselft to be something spectacular. It was dry which made it difficult for the other ingredients to compliment it. I won' t be going there again.

Great place, amazing atmosphere and GOOD burgers

My dad and I used to go here to have our special "dates". I was younger then and he has since passed but I remember the service always being amazing. Not a huge restaurant so the service was decent. Family owned. There Best Burger really is just that, the best. This is the perfect place to just go sit, relax, bs around, and have a great burger.

I am not a ex-employee and not a friend of one. This was not the best burger in town. I'm sorry to say it used to be 20 years ago. Now what a dump. grease everywhere. Not good at all. City seach needs to do a better job of rating places.

A bad employee, writes a review...then has his/her coharts write some too. So got fired? Stanich's is and will always be a place to go for a burger. If you are looking for the Snooty-UpTown Burger, this is not for you. This is a place that has the charm, excellent service, and great burgers that many of you have not had the pleasure of enjoying. I have never had a bad experince, there is a wait...yes, not fast food, gosh, maybe they just really cook it slow and right. Go and Enjoy!!

The messiest but not the best

I read the hype in the Oregonian one day about Portland?s Best Hamburger at Stanich's on Freemont. I was excited to try it and I did yesterday, I was very disappointed. However it can be said that it is Portland?s messiest hamburger. The fries we good, fresh not frozen. If you want THE BEST hamburger go to any Burgerville, their shakes are supreme as well as the Walla Walla Sweet Onion Rings.

So just skip Stanich?s and head straight to Burgerville.

Great Burgers, Service Sometimes Slow, Get it To Go

I've been going to Stanich's for years now and their burgers have remained tasty. Normally I get my order to go as the service in the restaurant is often slow though friendly.

Their fries are a little on the greasy side, but this place is all about the burgers. If you don't want to wait, call ahead and get it to go!

Bad burger

This place stinks. Bad burgers. Dry. Slow service. One star at best. Do not bother going here, Burgerville is better. Sad but true!
