I meet at the Lucky Lab on Quimby every month with a large group of people (average 20.) We are kind of noisy but no one seems to mind. There is a great selection of beer on tap. The food isn't the best in the world, but has always been appropriately cooked. They offer some neat sandwich options. I wasn't impressed with the corn chowder- it wasn't thick at all. The waitstaff are attentive, but not talkative. Overall- a great place for groups but probably not somewhere you'd want to go for just dinner.
Pros: large beer selection, great for groups, interesting sandwiches
Cons: the corn "chowder," can get drafty, can get noisy

The menu is as odd as the cows dispersed throughout the bar. Deli and Thai? Seriously? But to their credit they do both well. Their Italian grinder is delicious. I have yet to find that one beer, although Black Lab and Top Dog or both certainly drinkable. If you enjoy thai try the Bento with Spicy Peanut Curry.
Pros: Bring your Fido and enjoy the covered poarch together.
Cons: Having to wait in line at a counter to order.

My husband and I have been going to the Lucky Lab since it first opened. We had our first date there, and have made many important decisions in life over a pint with our pooch out on the back patio. We love you guys..."...drinkin' a beer with my four legged friends and a coupl' a strangers it all depends, it doesn't matter that it's gettin' late, for now it's time to celebrate!" (FLG) Keep on brewin' boys (and ladies) - and welcome home Flem, keep kickin' it over the top!
Pros: Great Beer, great people and a great patio
Cons: sometimes there are a loooooot of dogs, but I like dogs soo...

I occasionally meet friends at the Lab on Miser Mondays for beer and dinner. I'm always dissapointed with the utterly boring menu, that hasn't changed in years. They just don't seem to care whether or not their customers are satisfied, as long as people still come through the door. They often run out of certain foods; for instance, if sandwiches are practically the only thing on your menu, make sure you have enough bread. Beer is good, but not consistant, and dogs are a huge plus. The managers could stand to read some of these comments.
Pros: good beer, dogs, good for groups
Cons: crappy food, poor service

Ah, the lab! The lab consistently has the best beer in town. Dog Day IPA is a classic. And they have a nitro and hand pump tap with rotating varieties. But watch out, their alcohol content is high (higher than they claim?). The indoor area is spacious. The atmosphere is rustic with unfinished vaulted ceilings that look untouched for 80 years. Outdoor seating is spacious, and now they have outdoor heaters for those cold winter nights. There are typically a lot of dogs on the porch and things can get rambunctious. Service is "too cool to be friendly. The food is overpriced and not good, but tolerable in a pinch. BLT is the best meat sandwich and the three cheese meltdown is the best veggie. Bento is decent. Caesar salad is the highlight. The soups are not stellar. Don't come for the food, come for the beer.
Pros: Beer, Bring your Dog, Funky SE atmosphere
Cons: Food Menu Overpriced, unfriendly Staff

Ray Oldenburg would love this place as much as my wife and I do. Clearly the Lucky Labrador meets the requirements of a great third place. Friendly atmosphere, good food and drink, and, most of all, a relaxed place to meet and spend time with friends.

I've been going to the LuckyLab for just over a year now, and let me tell you - It is mind blowingly great. Because I'm only eighteen, I cannot comment on the state of the various beers that are served (Though my parents are quick to announce that the IPA is one of their favorites). I can however, comment on the food. The menu consists almost entirely of various sandwiches, and while that may seem like a let-down to some, their outstanding quality more than makes up for the lack of a broad menu, in my eyes. The Deli Club inparticular is rather awesome. The LuckyLab's environment is also rather nice, sporting some nice music, and a large dining area.It is not without flaws however, as some of the tables tend to be a bit wobbly. At any rate, the LuckyLab has earned the oh-so-coveted 'ZopharX's-Favorite' award. Hurrah.
Pros: Great Sandwiches, Good Service, Nice Music
Cons: , Limited Menu

This is not the place to go if you are looking for the real brew pub experience. There were neither fries nor burgers which is the standard at most brew pubs. However, the sandwhichs are great and the bentos looked very appetizing. It would be a wonderful place for a man/woman and his/her best friend to relax on a good sunny day. The dogs may not go inside, there are a large number of picnic tables to choose from. They did not have decaf coffee and while we were there they ran out of soup. We might go back on a nice day to relax with our dog and have a good sandwich. There ared mixed reveiws.
Pros: Good beer

I guess this place was perfect for hosting our large group that included vegetarians. However, given the option I probably wouldn't return. Brewpubs are supposed to have grease at least in the form of fries or pizza. Lucky lab has neither. The bentos can temporarily sate the carnivore, but I would visit this place on a full stomach.
