Good Chinese food in Portland?
by CSMobileUser2
Pretty good food, great for takeout as atmosphere is not increadible. Extremely friendly and understand seriousness of peanut allergy.
My Favorite Chinese Place
by xDylanx
I go to Fu Jin all the time. I always get the Sesame Chicken, extra spicy. It is fantastic, so hot I cry, but that's how I like it. I always get the same waiter, and he is extremely gracious and nice. I don't know his name, but he's there whenever I am.
- Pros: Great Sesame Chicken, Good service whenever I've been, fair prices.
- Cons: Rice now costs extra, parking on Hawthorne in the middle of the day :/
Good food, nice people
by knudsenmj
I had General Tso's chicken, it was wonderful. Slightly crispy with a hint of spiciness. My wife had KungPao chicken and was equally happy. Serving sizes are large enough to share. They had about 10 specials on the white board on the wall.
I didn't like the wonton soup much. Wontons were a little doughy and the soup was a bit salty.
The waiter said they made everything at the restraunt (except soy sauce). Definitely will be going back.
- Pros: Good food, fast service, nice people
- Cons: some menu items leave a bit to be desired.
Best Chinese Food in the City
by webwunderkind
This is my favorite Chinese food in any city, and I've lived in NY and LA. The service is phenomenally quick and responsive, and the dishes are tasty beyond compare. I've always been partial to the seafood and noodle soup on rainy days, it has a really good broth.
Beware of false bad reviews, I think Fujin may have some here, also Flying Pie Pizzeria, which if phenomenal. Reviews saying the food had bad ingredients when I go to these restaurants for years, it seems like competitors put in lousy reviews on these boards. Fujin is top notch.
I like it!

We go here about once a month and we've always enjoyed the food and low key atmosphere. Our favorite waiter is the son of the family. He is always gracious and manages to get a good short conversation in when there is time. If you are looking around for good, cheap chinese food in portland, this is the spot. woohoo!
- Pros: food, service
- Cons: hawthorne
Mixed Bag
by tomj888
Fu-Jin has been a mixed bag for me. When I moved here 4 years ago, the food there was fantastic: always arrived steaming hot, good quality meats, nice sauces. Suddenly, it went completely foul. I had bad food on several occasions: overly battered, poor cuts of meat, bad taste and I was once a victim of undercooked chicken there, very pink on the inside, when I sent it back, they brought me more that was overcooked and burned. I didn't go for a while. A month ago, I decided to give it another chance. It was vastly improved with a new menu. The sweet and sour prawns had a very light panko bread crumb coating, not the usual heavy batter, and were delicious! Hopefully, they are on an uphill swing. The woman who works there is a grade A b***ch! I don't know what her problem is. Hopefully, Fu-Jin will once again have great food and that lady will get on Paxil or something.
- Pros: good sweet and sour shrimp, excellent hot and sour soup
- Cons: until recently, food wasn't so good, mean, rude lady working there
Not Bad...
by malxndr
But not great. I got the crispy eggplant because that's all anyone I've ever talked to about this place could talk about and it was good. Not bad, not great, but good. Definately better than a lot of Chinese restaurants in town, but I don't think I'd go out of my way to go here. If you want a quick pretty cheap Chinese food fix though, it'll take care of your craving.

Family-owned restaurant in the Hawthorne neighborhood proffers Chinese staples and is well known for its hot and sour soup.
Not Greasy!
by enail5
My husband usually doesn't like Chinese food, and he loved this. The family owned restaurant is really friendly, and the food is good. We really liked the potstickers, General Tso's chicken, and Dry Sauteed Stringbeans.
- Pros: Food, Service
- Cons: Atmosphere
Bad Food and Mean Hostess!
by tastybits
I have very little to say for this spot other than the food is a sloppy excuse for Chinese food and that the hostess was very mean and rude to my party and I. Twice this happend! And twice the chicken came to our table pink and cold on the inside. I should have never gone back a second time.
Good Luck!
- Pros: Cheap!
- Cons: Everything else!
