Service Terrible... Food Eh...
by nannahs_evol at Citysearch
With less than 3 tables occupied you would think my table could get someone to take our order or deliver us food and drinks. Getting seated... no problem. Our unpleasant waitress was astonished that we wanted our beers WITH food, not as an after dinner chaser. Once we did get our food (well all but the rice) it was mediocre at best and the portions were soooo small! We kept on begging the two other men waiters for rice and water, but apparently our table not being in their station trumped customers choking on naan. I would rather go to McDonalds than back to this place again. Beware. Only the check is delivered fast.
- Cons: Poor Service, Bad portion:price, Not authentic
Mediocre

It was o.k., pretty standard Indian restaurant food. Too creamy, not really like Indian people eat, after you are done you feel sort of fat. It wasn't bad....but it wasn't great either. We did the lunch buffet.
- Pros: glad it's there, cute building
- Cons: mediocre food, sort of creamy, not really healthy

This is my favorite Indian place in Portland so far!
The food is good, and the atmosphere is fun!
I definitely recommend giving it a try.
Bombay Cricket is the place to go!

Having been in the restaurant business, I sometimes compare it to people: "if you catch them on a bad day, that doesn't necessarily mean they're bad." But this is a need-to-do review! Our reservations were for 2 @ 7 on a saturday evening, but arriviing 20 minutes early for a cocktail. They did not have a bar (which was fine) so we sat downstairs in the cold "waiting area" until we were seated 10 minutes AFTER our reservation. We were handed menus & after our decision, we placed them on the edge of our table, with 14 MINUTES going by without service! We waited patiently & attempted to grab the waitresses attention, but received only glances & turns in the other direction. After a total of 23 minutes of waiting, we got up & left. Maybe they were having one of those "bad days"... or something like that...!!!
- Pros: 2nd floor dining
- Cons: terrible service, decor isn't cozy, long long wait
Simply amazing food.

The food here is simply amazing. It is best with a group of people. Order a large variety of entrees and keep the rice and garlic naan coming. Try anything you get a chance to. When I go to this restaurant I will typicaly eat three times the amount that I would eat at another restaurant because it is so good. Strongly reccommended.
Best in Portland

I eat from here about once a week and love the food. Take out is especially good value (the portions are huge). Curries are excelent. Service is very good. Price is reasonable.
Overall - a great Indian food experience. Try it - you won't be disappointed.
- Pros: Food, Take out, Service
- Cons: Friday evenings busy!
Gem of a restaraunt.

I went on monday and really enjoyed their food and service. They are not pompous and surly as other indian restaraunts in town are, but very friendly. I ordered several dishes and really enjoyed all of them. Also the prices were very modest for such great food. They are also child friendly and this is very important to me,providing high chairs with a smile!
- Pros: friendly service, Child friendly, good food
Indian food is my new cheeseburger!
by frog304soda at Citysearch
I have always loved cheeseburgers so much that I could probably eat them everyday. Since my first experience at India Grill I have found a new favorite food. The Chicken Tikka Masala is my favorite! Also they have fantastic veggie samosas! I have always found the food to be excellent and quickly served and the service to be above and beyond. Every time I go I enjoy it more!
- Pros: food, service, price
Have not found better....
by joepass at Citysearch
I have not found better Indian food in Portland. Even Plainfield's Mayur does not have the simple aromatic qualities that India Grill so easily assembles. No, this is not a 5-star restaurant and you should not expect perfect service. However, for a family run operation (as good restaurants should be), India Grill accurately captures every flavor longed for in Indian cuisine. They are masters with Lamb, which I highly recommend.
- Pros: true flavor, presentation, authenticity
- Cons: small-business, stairs
food: good / service: bad

With an immense amount of hunger and an undeniable craving for Indian food, we set our sights on the highly recommended India Grill. Upon arrival, we were promptly seated and after a reasonable amount of time, our server came to take our order: vegetable samosas to start, a side of garlic naan and two vegetarian dishes. We waited and waited until our bread and main meals arrived. Where were our samosas? Apparently he forgot to write them down, so after diving into our main course, we asked if he could bring them out. Which he did, *after* we were finished with our meal. Overall, the food was good, though the portions a bit small especially in the naan department, four small slices wasnt adequate. The service is seriously lacking, our server wasnt so much rude, as he was detached. I most likely will not be returning to the India Grill.
- Pros: good food, decent atmostphere
- Cons: poor service, overpriced, small portions
