that nobody mentioned the obscene amount of fruit flies swarming above the tables. Also, twice in a row, we didn't receive the correct meal. Our pancakes were uncooked, there were vegetables on our plates that we specifically requested to NOT have, and our servers were inattentive. However, the food was decent.

So they have a great menu, excellent variety. Some times a little inconsistant in quality. Great service, and happy staff! Mochas are now $450 for 16oz and they don't taste all that good, so Id stick to house coffee!
Pros: great staff
Cons: expensive coffee!

The biscuits and gravy tasted like it was made with cream of mushroom soup in the can. The black beans in huevos rancheros were dry, old, cold little pieces of awfulness. The absolute worst potatoes I've ever had, they were not fresh, flavorless, and ice cold. The place is cute, but unfortunatly we sat with a view of the kitchen where we could see them microwaving most of our meal. What is the point of using "organic ingredients" if your just throwing them in a faulty microwave?
Pros: ambience
Cons: disgusting food

every time i brunch at the c&s, the food is always exactly as ordered, and the wait staff is always conscientious and thorough. even when it's packed, the staff remains cool under fire and the wait itself hasn't ever been as atrocious as many other popular brunch spots in town. also, they're really accommodating for vegetarian and even vegan preferences, and without attitude about it.
Pros: yummy scones!

Okay, so I don't go places at busy times, with a toddler, I really can't- and I had the opposite experience of many posted here. The staff are always nice, helpful, bring small cups and are totally cool about my kid leaving a huge mess, BUT the food is really inconsistent- last time it actually made me sick! It seems that the better chefs are maybe reserved for peak hours? In any case, we love finding little diners that are nice to young ones and also can manage to handle a post concert hangover table but we won't go back.

Although the food was good, I was very put off by the abrupt unfriendly service. I ordered maple syrup, but did not receive and as I tried the ask about it, I was too late for she brusquely whipped around and was gone before I could get one word out. Later, I reviewed the bill, and noticed a "tax" charge in a city and state that has no sales tax! The servers didn't smile and acted like our presence was an imposition. There are too many other decent restaurants for this reviewer to recommend this cafe.
Pros: good food, and real maple syrup option
Cons: horrible service

This cafe has impressed me each time I have dined here while shopping/killing time in the Hawthorne district. This is the place for you if you enjoy unique specials, eating breakfast at 7:00 pm, enjoying EXCELLENT baked goods, savoring the diner/cafe experience, or just enjoying a very reasonably priced, vegetarian friendly menu! The service has always been pleasant and I haven't found any reason not to return!
Pros: Meal prices, seating availability, convenient location
Cons: Parking may be an issue (try the side streets if you have troubles, it worked for me!)

Such a great place for post party hangover breakfast! The blueberry pancakes and garden sausage are so delicious and since most of my friends are vegan, it's a great place for all of us to go grab a bite. Food's cheap, service is usually good, and the no cell phone policy really makes my experience that much better. The rice krispie treats are fabulous, lots of marshmellow!
Pros: Garden Sausage, blueberry pancakes
Cons: it is often REALLY REALLY busy

This place is always busy during peak meal time because it is just always high quality, fast service and just fantastic food. It is worth waiting in line but if you go before or after the rush you don't have to wait.
Pros: Great fresh quality and fantastic tasting food!!
Cons: NONE!!
