I'm surprised...
by copprandstars at Citysearch
that nobody mentioned the obscene amount of fruit flies swarming above the tables. Also, twice in a row, we didn't receive the correct meal. Our pancakes were uncooked, there were vegetables on our plates that we specifically requested to NOT have, and our servers were inattentive. However, the food was decent.

The Worst Breakfast Ever!
by harmony503 at Citysearch
The biscuits and gravy tasted like it was made with cream of mushroom soup in the can. The black beans in huevos rancheros were dry, old, cold little pieces of awfulness. The absolute worst potatoes I've ever had, they were not fresh, flavorless, and ice cold. The place is cute, but unfortunatly we sat with a view of the kitchen where we could see them microwaving most of our meal. What is the point of using "organic ingredients" if your just throwing them in a faulty microwave?
- Pros: ambience
- Cons: disgusting food
Opposite reaction
by oregonc at Citysearch
Okay, so I don't go places at busy times, with a toddler, I really can't- and I had the opposite experience of many posted here. The staff are always nice, helpful, bring small cups and are totally cool about my kid leaving a huge mess, BUT the food is really inconsistent- last time it actually made me sick! It seems that the better chefs are maybe reserved for peak hours? In any case, we love finding little diners that are nice to young ones and also can manage to handle a post concert hangover table but we won't go back.
Rude servers
by astuteuser at Citysearch
Although the food was good, I was very put off by the abrupt unfriendly service. I ordered maple syrup, but did not receive and as I tried the ask about it, I was too late for she brusquely whipped around and was gone before I could get one word out. Later, I reviewed the bill, and noticed a "tax" charge in a city and state that has no sales tax! The servers didn't smile and acted like our presence was an imposition. There are too many other decent restaurants for this reviewer to recommend this cafe.
- Pros: good food, and real maple syrup option
- Cons: horrible service
one of the worst
by tundrahdesert at Citysearch
Worst breakfast I have had since I moved here. Nothing like having them serve your food cold and half the country potatoes were uncooked. The service was horrid though not the worst I have experianced in town but maybe the 2nd worst. There are so many better places to eat in town. Do not waste your money here.
- Pros: none, none, none
- Cons: service, food, value
Food ok, Hawthorne attitude
by yazfan at Citysearch
It amazes me that this district is founded on being casual and unpretentious, so heaven forbid you decide to wear some nice clothes to this resturant. You see, nice clothes are associated with yuppie money hungry capitalists. This Hawthorne establishment charges ridicoulus prices, but it's in the name of mother earth, organic and local ingredients, but not profit. Give me a break, who are the real capitalists here? The stuck-up service here more than takes away from anything that's good on the menu.
- Cons: politics

To sum it up: The service was less than what I expect at a truck stop resturant! Our food sat at the window for 15 minutes...without a heat lamp. When finally presented with a classic ham and cheese omelet...something that you can't screw up...I again was discouraged!
service?
by quoyledog at Citysearch
i stopped going to the cup&saucer because i've never had such bad service in my life. i lived a few blocks away so it was convenient but every time i gave them another try i would end up dying of thirst because for some reason full service doesn't mean drink refills. do us a favor, do your job or find another industry because if anyone asks me, i'd recommend McD's over this wasted store front on Hawthorne
