An early weekday lunch led me to find Vincente's. When I attempted a visit to the Mcmenamins down the street and found it closed, I decided to give this pizza joint a try. Once I sat down and heard the special I was a bit skeptical, as walnuts are not exactly my idea of a great pizza topping, but once I saw their beer selection and had a slice of pie in front of me, I was a believer. Their crust is a wonderfully thin, crispy and sweet piece of heaven - just substantial enough to support the toppings, but thin enough to fold well, with hints of cinnamon and nutmeg. The pizza was piping hot and not loaded down with a thick layer of sauce like most pizzas. On my visit, I ordered up a pitcher of an old favorite, the Alameda Black Bear Stout. I was unaware that you could find any of Alameda's brews anywhere other than Alameda, but the server informed me that they do have a distribution deal. Once I was finished, I wandered over to their beer cooler, which houses some great brews that can be somewhat hard to find in town. After mulling over the selection, I walked out with two bottles of Pelican Pub and Brewery's award winning India Pelican Ale. Our server, whose name I didn't get, was extremely friendly and helpful, going so far as having a chat with me about the fact that they sell Schlitz Ice 40oz bottles, something I found both astonishing and brilliant. Overall, Vincente's is well worth a try for anyone who enjoys truly exceptional pizza, top-quality beer and service second to none.
Pros: beer selection, pizza crust, friendly staff, location
Cons: none

Potatoes are my favorite food staple... Add them to a pizza... True heaven! Their pizza dough is great, quite authentic tasting pies. But I would get the pizza to go, or sit outside on the sidewalk... The service is okay but the inside gets stuffy in the summer months...
Pros: Variety

We are new to Portland and thought the restaurant looked very nice. The menu was imaginative and the pizza and salad were awesome. Great beer list too. But... where was the staff for a Friday night? The blonde who was the waitress barely acknowledged us and someone else took our order. It took forever and we had to get our own box for leftovers. I have never left no tip before but this was so bad. Not rude but severely understaffed.I'm surprised there was no one else working.Probably won't go back. Too bad.
Pros: excellent pizza
Cons: lackluster service

Actually, the service is horrendous. It's riddled with flies and always dirty.I went there out of necessity for years and never dined in. My mind was briefly changed by a server by the name of Jason. We would only come in on nights that he worked and always ask to sit in his section. Any other time was a nightmare and a regrettable mistake. Without him there, the pizza isn't worth the hassle. If anyone knows where he is working now, could you please post it.
Pros: none
Cons: bad music

I came in on Monday night only to find a super-friendly staff smiling to greet me. I don't know what these other reviews are saying, because I've been coming in to Vincente's since I was in second grade. This neighborhood place is truly wonderful, and has some of the best pizza around.
Pros: Beer selection
Cons: Sometimes it gets a little busy

I dined at Vincente's the other night, and am very surprised about some of the reviews posted here. Not only were all of my requests promptly and politely taken care of, but the server - a young woman who was also taking care of the bar - paid close attention to all of the other tables as well. The pizza's pretty good too - not the best in town, but that's hardly a critique in Portland. Nightly beer specials are decent too.
Pros: Great service, convenient location, nice atmosphere.
Cons: Pie could be a little cheaper.

Vince's secret "old world" sweet crust recipe and unbelievably delicious cheeses make any type of pie you order completely out of this world. Unbeatable pizza, flavorful salads and an outstanding selection of bottle and draft beers make Vincente's, along with Old Town Pizza the two best Pizzerias in Portland. And don't let the other reviewers fool you, Vincente's has solid, if a bit quirky, service and a great atmosphere.
Pros: Best Crust Ever, Smoked Mozzarella and Fontina cheeses, Great Beer Selection
Cons: Parking can be lame

Inconsistent pizza and pretty rude staff if you have a group larger than 2. There are PLENTY of awesome pizza joints in town, so there's really no reason to waste money at this one. Try Tom's sports bar on Lombard, Bella Faccia on Alberta, Flying Pie on Stark, etc.. OH! And Dante's has some delicious, underrated pie. Basically anywhere else in town. I love pizza. It's really hard to bum me out on pizza, but Vincente's staff succeeded.
Pros: 40's of Old German
Cons: Pizza, service, prices, ambieance

bad/rude service and mediocre pizza for the price. I suggest spending your money elsewhere. there are many better and friendlier pizzerias in town.

I've been eating out almost daily for 30 years and live within walking distance to Vincente's. I act pleasant and tip at least 20% so it's rare for me to have service troubles. yet I've been to Vincente's 3 times and all 3 times gotten horrible service with an attitude, so now I go elsewhere.
