More than just family photos
by pdxscotsman
I have a 15y/o Shiba Inu dog named Toby, and wanted to get some nice professional shots of him so that I could have some lasting memories. The folks at Campbell Salgado were great, they worked with us to get some really nice shots. (Toby's not particularly good at just sitting still.) I had originally thought I'd just want a photo of Toby alone, but I ended up getting several of Toby and I together. Every part of the process was exceptional, from the initial consultation, to the photo shoot, to the review, and the final prints are just what I wanted. Thank you Campbell Salgado!
- Pros: works well with animals (and kids and family)
Top notch photography

Campbell Salgado always delivers beautiful portraits. They make you and your family feel welcome and special. Their studio is amazing. The photographers are very creative and compassionate. It is a real treat to have your photos done here.
- Pros: caring, likeable photographer
Beautiful photography

Kim is such a delight to work with. I felt so at home and comfortable having my pictures taken in her beautiful studio and gardens. I recommend Campbell Salgado Studios to anyone who wants high quality photos taken for business or family treasures!
- Pros: gorgeous work in a comfortable setting
terrific portraits, remarkable experience
by eggdrop
Beautiful portraits that capture those expressions that you're not even aware of in your child, but recognize in an instant. Sessions that are fun and playful. Portraits that are never posed. Photos that capture spontaneity and joy. Kim has a tremendous knack for capturing just the right moment, whether its the turn of a head or the way the bubbles are floating down around a dancing child.
Kim has photographed us at 4 or 5 sessions now, beginning with pregnancy. Because they counselled us well, early on, to try to keep some of the mat and frame sizes the same, we can rotate them on the walls, remembering years past and seeing the changes that have happened. Each experience has been delightful and it's been exciting to see them fine tune their business so that they offer not only exceptional photographs, but also a complete experiential package and many different ways to think about and assemble your portraits. It is a joy to go through all of the photos during the slide show. It is always hard to pick just a few from each shoot to print. The number of great shots is always amazing and fun to see. And it is ever so handy to have them mat and frame the images. Something I find hard to follow up on myself.
And while they may be a bit spendy, good luck creating images like these at home. Not only is it a lot harder than you think, but kids react differently to Kim and Francisco than they do to their "usual" photographers. I doubt they see the number of outstretched palms and screamed "no"s that we do when trying to capture moments with our 4-year old! We have found the photos they have taken over the years to be truly invaluable.
- Pros: cherished memories artfully captured
- Cons: choosing from among the many great photos
awesome and inspiring experience, phenomenal products!!!

We have been going to CS since our first born was 10 months old. Having never experienced more than cheesy smile type photography, both my husband and I were hooked. I remember watching the intro slideshow representing their styles and could not believe that we would have pictures that looked like that. The photo experience brought out the best in all of us and I cried when we saw the slideshow of our first session-- I was so touched to see our little family up on the screen like that! It is now 4 years and another child later. We have gone back every year. The staff is excellent and very professional. Each experience is unique. I think the prices reflect the excellent quality of the whole package, not just the photo. We end up choosing just a few each time but over the years their photos are the main art of our whole house. I recommend CS to everyone. We even brought our family from the east coast to have a session and they were impressed. Kim is a fantastic photographer and become a good friend in the process. All around thumbs up!
- Pros: experience, staff, products, snacks!
- Cons: wish we could buy more
Top quality product and professional treatment by Campbell/Salgado

One of the reviewers above said this was a "cultish" experience? Oh give me a break. Are you paranoid or just scared of the dark? Or both? Our family had photos taken there and it was one of the most relaxing, fun photo sessions I've ever been in. Yeah, you go into a room and view your photos on a big screen. Ever seen a slide show before? C/S goes way beyond that. There was nice music, a big comfy couch, refreshments (beer!) and yummy snacks served. The photography was light-years beyond anything else we'd ever had done before. There were a ton of shots to choose from and the photo review was highly organized by the C/S staff. My wife and I argued over which shots to get because there were so many great ones to choose from. They don't take your ordinary grinning-like-an-idiot studio photos. Their facility, which is built into a large house, is extraordinary. The photos are artwork, not like the junk you get at Sears (or even any other pro studio for that matter). C/S has its act together. You get what you pay for - top quality work, including framing and matting. Everyone who sees our family photos is awestruck by them, wondering how we got them. I just send them to Campbell/Salgado. Every one of my friends who has followed up and gotten their photos there was very happy they did. And I'm picky as hell.
- Pros: Awesome facility, results beyond expectations, fun experience, excellent staff
- Cons: None.
WONDERFUL experience and PHENOMENAL portraits!
by rodrigoandcam
Wow! We love this place. We've had professional portraits taken before, but have never had an experience anywhere close to what we had at Campbell Salgado. We felt like VIP's from the moment we walked in the door for our complinetary planning session. It was so nice to see how invested the studio was in ensuring that we loved our images. (And for me, who is not the most creative, artistic type, it was really helpful to have the slideshow to watch to get some ideas of photos we might want to create. ) When we came back for the actual session, we felt so welcomed and accommodated--particularly our (sometimes recalcitrant) six-year old! None of us would ever be likened to models, and with other photographers the experience of 'posing' always felt awkward--and the resulting pictures reflected this. At this studio however, they seemed to focus more on capturing our natural interactions with each other, with warm and wonderful (and sometimes hilarious) results. We were absolutely amazed by our pictures when we went in for our viewing. It's true they were more expensive than other photographers we have used in the past, but the images that were captured of our (rapidly growing) children and our connection to each other as a family are worth so much more than money. ( And with the time, heart and energy the photographers (and the studio as a whole) seems to invest in each client, I can totally respect their prices!) We will definitely be going back!
- Pros: best photos we've ever seen (particularly of ourselves!), individual attention, gorgeous studio with a TON of options
- Cons: could potentially feel expensive, especially if looking to only buy a single image.
Kind of like visiting a Christian Science Reading Room...?
by reason17
We went to their studio to discuss booking a family photoshoot there and we were uncomfortable. They made us wait forever even though we had an appointment and the person we were waiting for just seemed to be doing office work. She invited us into the next room and then pulled down a movie screen that blocked any possible escape. She never asked us if we would like to watch a slideshow (we would have said no--we had already seen their work on their website). Then they explained that we would not be able to own any of the photographs. We would have to buy overpriced prints from them anytime we wanted one. If we wanted to use a digital version of one or more, we would have to pay a licensing fee up front. I know this is how photographers make money, but it just felt weird and...sort of manipulative. My husband and I walked out and we both knew without saying anything that we would never go back.
- Pros: Nice studio spaces and good results
- Cons: Cultish sales practices and the studio name stamped on every print

We decided several years back to offer potential clients the opportunity to come in and meet with us for a complimentary thirty-minute portrait planning session.
This is a chance to see more of our work via a brief slideshow and to have the opportunity to discuss what is important to capture. We pride ourselves in customizing the photo experience to each family by listening and sharing.
A federal copyright law does protect the rights of photographers from having their work reproduced without their permission. This is a standard practice for professional photographers.
Our photographic products are priced to allow us to spend quality time with each family that visits our studio. All orders are professionally retouched, printed and matted using archival cotton rag board mats and signed by the photographer on the mat - no studio name stamped across the photo.
Amazing studio for tranforming connection into art
by elilily
My 10 year olds and I enjoyed a relaxed, playful afternoon with Kim Campbell in her new outdoor studio this summer. Kim easily engaged my reluctant kids into giggles and expressing themselves. She captures expressions and feelings in her work. She and her assistant made us all feel comfortable and enjoy our connection with each other. The photos she took are works of art that not only captured the twinkle in our eyes but also the unique connections between us. I know many people who have had wonderful experiences at this studio.
Creative photos done in a peaceful setting with great results!
by abcdoula
Our family shines within the lens of Campbell Salgado Studio's photographers . . .They are the best photographer we've ever worked with, in both the experience and the results. Their work with our babies has been phenonmenal, and it is such a family friendly time vs. the other experiences we have had trying to get photos of our squirmers. Try out their magic, but be prepared to get hooked. We are spoiled now and can't go anywhere else. Your family as artwork for your walls - what a great concept!
- Pros: stress-free, lots of time to shoot, friendly staff, excellent results
- Cons: hard to pick which shots to buy, expensive for some
