The staff was so rude when I called that I should have hung up right then and tried a different service. But being new to the area I figured I'd try them because they'd been recommended (how could that be possible). Never again. The nanny they sent me was twenty minutes late. She didn't even offer an apology. She smelled of cigarette smoke when she came in. When I came home and asked the kids how they enjoyed themselves, they told me all they did was watch tv while the babysitter talked on her cellphone. As I said, never again.

My family had some bad luck with babysitters in the past but once we found the Auntie Fay Agency, we've never used anything else! With our past experiences being so poor, I was very cautious. Once I found out that Auntie Fay conducts a screening process and background check for their sitters, I felt a little more at ease. That was about 2 years ago. We have been pleased with the caregivers they provide. As a service, they have been excellent - doing their best to accomodate shorter notice requests, timely response back on every request. Also, once they know you have a preference for a particular sitter, they'll mark your file as such and always go to that person first for your next request. I'm sorry to hear about the previous reviewer's comments but have to say that they don't match my own whatsoever. We will continue to use the Auntie Fay Agency and highly recommend them to others.

Pros: Very good caregivers, responsive staff

Cons: No drawbacks.

Hi My family and I have tried several Caregiving agencies in the Portland area. We were most unhappy with Auntie Fay. Their promptness in returning phone calls left something to be desired. The caregiver they sent us, Isabella, was dressed so scantilly that her breasts were almost hanging out. The other caregiver, Laura, smelled of cigarettes and alcohol.

Prompt, friendly service provided us with excellent childcare providers, even with very short notice. Billing was easily understood (nanny and agency fees were separate.) This agency has come through for us several times when we've needed help for short term placement, and I've always been very pleased with it. I recommend it very highly, and expect to use it again.

Auntie Fay Agency uses an annoying billing system which sends an extra hourly placement fee (billed on top of the nanny's rate) that was sent to us separately in the mail. Thinking we paid the care provider already we dismissed it as paid. When I called the service, in a VERY rude tone of voice, she denied my possible reasoning and demanded her $9.60 plus late fee. I NO NOT care about the paying $9.60 fee or the silly late penalty. Confusing billing additions take time out of our day and our time is also worth money. I do not recommend this service purely as a result of the rudeness and disrespectful tone of voice over the phone. **Just put it all on ONE bill and work out the take with the care provider.

Cons: Rude phone skills

They check their backgrounds and find them for you even last minute. And the babysitters are $8/hour. That's the best price I know of in town for babysitters with criminal background checks. And Loyce is always very personable when we speak on the phone. Ask for Loyce. Frances (who helps sometimes in the office) is sometimes forgetful about getting back to you. But Loyce is prompt and on the ball.

Pros: Best Value, Good Service, Mostly great nannies

Cons: Some mediocre nannies, Forgetful Frances
