I read the last review from over a year ago and I was shocked that this is the same place this lady was talking about. This nursing home is far from abusive. My mom has been there for the past 4 years and I visit her almost daily and have grown familiar with the staff there. I sleep well at night, knowing she is well cared for. My overall, general experience is positive. We've had some rough spots, but the staff has listened and resolved my concerns. I understand they have a tough job and appreciate what they do. The aids work so hard and are often under appreciated. It's not unusual for mom to loose things (she has dementia and will put her dentures in a napkin and has almost thrown them away several times). When these things happen, the care center has shown concern and have helped locate the missing items. On one occasion, they even paid to replace a pair of glasses that accidently got stepped on by another patient. They recently got a new director of nursing, who I have spoken to and whom I've been very impressed with. I have recommended Glisan Care Center to friends of mine who needed a temporary place for their dad. My understanding was they had a positive experience, and their dad will ask to stop by and visit his friends there on occasion. I think it's unfortunate that people tend to only focus on negative experiences in nursing facilities and totally ignore the daily heroic efforts that are made by people who take on the challenge of caring for our loved ones that we are unable to care for at home. If I didn't work, I still don't think I could take care of my mother at home. She requires so much care and attention. I am grateful for the staff at Glisan who will do that and who care so much for my mom.
Pros: Friendly and caring staff, willing to communicate and resolve concerns
Cons: There's no place like home

Not impressed at all. Staff rud, not clean, slow service. Dad was dirty & his room, he & room smelled. No proper utensels when requested or trimet lift. Left in diappers for hours. Therapy discontinued after 4 weeks. Told would never walk or use right hand again. Lost includs, $3,000.00 new hearing aids, teeth, wallet, checkbook, leg brace, & etc. There for 5 months where family was repeated informed by staff that he could never leave yet doctor told us he could. I brought Daddy home, & hes great now. Walking with help, feeding himself again, shaving himself, Learning to write with right hand again. Has put on proper level of weight again. No longer on all the downers the home had him put on. Daddy made the rams head doorknocker at Timberline lodge in 1938. 70th Reunion was this month & he was an honored guest. One of only 6 men there. Hes 93 yrs old now. You can find pictures of him on it or on my space under my name, that is on the Timberline webpage. It shows more pictures of Timberline lodge and stuff of great interest on him & a lot of the original builders. Ps ,all of a sudden his checks where mailed after his representative was told he took it all with him when we left, (10 months ago. Why the overly positive review from someon this week & his checks mailed to him (this week), but no teeth, hearing aids, or wallet. ???? Seems a bit odd!!!!!! Id be interested in knowing if a staff member wrote that review. Ive worked in nursing homes, hospitals, and foster care. I lived in Hawaii when he fell ill & took a few months to get the airfare home. Now Im trying to figure out (How to replace his teeth & hearing aids) . I bought and old mobile home, wheelchairs, walkers, etc with what little money he did have to bring him out of that place instead of going back to live in Paradise. I couldnt leave him or anyone I love in a place that leaves you in soiled pants, bed, and dirty. Youll be old soon, make unanounced visits so it isnt you
Pros: If they hadnt lost his teeth & could use his right arm to eat with, they did have good food.
Cons: Rude, dirty, very slow, lacking in person one on one respect or care. No water ever at meals.

I love Glisan Care Center. I get a good feeling just thinking about the place. The staff were so friendly and professional. The administrator brings her dog, a mixed lab who is very gentle and cute. She visits people and adds so much to the facility. Any concerns I had were not major, and were promptly addressed and attended to. I was so impressed with the knowledgable nurses and care managers. They were able to answer all of my medical questions and put my mind at ease. The rehabilitation team is beyond fabulous. They have a huge therapy area and are incredibly competent. I would highly recommend this facility to any of my friends and family. You will be well cared for!!
Pros: Great customer service, professional, friendly, competent.
Cons: The building is a little older and not in the "best" part of town.
