Excellent experience so far.

I have felt very well taken care of at this clinic. My doctor/midwife was so personal and thorough and always took the time to talk over everything with me. I ended up switching over from my "traditional" doctor after I got fed up waiting 45 minutes for 2 minutes of the doctor's time. Here it's the other way around, I wait 2 minutes and I get 45 minutes of doctor time. While I admit that a few times the front desk staff seemed a bit busy and rushed and therefore could have come off as rude to some, I have never felt even an inkling of that from my doctor. She's always been extremely attentive to me. I'm due to deliver very soon and couldn't be more comfortable with my choice to go this route.

Bad Customer Service

Unfortunately I have to leave a bad review for the NCFC. I'm sure some of the docs there are great, but the front desk staff have been less than professional several times that we have been in. The last time we went we were treated very rudely by one of the front desk staff and one of the doctors when a question came up about our insurance (they had incorrect info but refused to believe me, even after I verified with the insurance co). The doc later apologized, but I was put off with how it was dealt with. Another time I was in, one front desk staff member was scolding another for how she had done something and it was right out in the open for everyone to hear.
I really tried to like this place but will not be going back. I do like Dr. Ed and his talk on vaccinations that he provides. My midwife highly recommended him too, but I have not been in to see him.
- Pros: Play area for children
- Cons: The people that work there
Terrible Midwife Experience!
by portlandmama27
My experience with this birthing center was so bad that I abandoned my midwife just a few weeks before my due date. Rude front desk staff, difficulty getting appointments, pressure for routine medical tests, disinterested midwives and doctors that were consistently and grossly late for appointments and a general feeling of being rushed are just some of what you can expect here. That is, after the kissy kissy first appointment where they promptly get you to sign up for their care. Literally not much better than an HMO. I would highly recommend finding an independent or smaller midwifery center, as NCFC left way too much to be desired for a woman seeking a gentle, natural birth alternative.
- Pros: absolutely nothing!
- Cons: docs late for apps, pushy about routine tests, chilly disposition of midwife
